Hello all, rather than tie up the Tracks thread with our issue I have created this new thread so we can keep each other updated, coordinate responses etc. Briefly put, Nippon Yasan overcharged a number of us on shipping for this figure due to them receiving the wrong information from their suppliers. A number of us (myself included) informed them of this error and were told we were wrong. Now the final shipping costs are known and many of us have way over payed. Nippon Yasan is refusing to do anything about this because they are claiming that they paid the same amount to the post office and cannot recoup their losses. I have told them in no uncertain terms that this is not our issue and we should not be footing the bill. Follows my transcript thus far:

I am a reasonable man and I know that management would not want to. For now I have removed my post from Facebook advising a boycott until we have resolved this matter. Printer friendly version Message: If the price were to have increased or shipping turned out more expensive I know you would have asked for more money. You see I have an unpaid order. May I suggest you apply the difference between the reality and what you charged me (again, I did tell you the information was wrong) to my unpaid order and we can consider the matter closed. Once more, you got the wrong information, I (and many others) told you this was wrong and you ignored us. the error is with either your supplier (so you ask for the money you lost back from them) or with yourselves ignoring your customers (so you have to accept the loss) in no case should the customer have to foot the bill because YOU made a mistake. If you are incapable of comprehending this there is no point in my communicating further with you so you must escalate. I (and many others) informed your company several times that you had the wrong information and you ignored us. You have taken 9100 Yen for 2700 Yen shipping. you must either reimburse the difference or at least give store credit, anything else is purely and simply theft. Where is it MY error that YOU and YOUR suppliers had the wrong information? Why do I need to foot the bill for you? Tracking Number: Message: Hello, this is my second contact with you, previously I requested you look into the shipping fees as they seemed too high, I was informed that there was no issue. I have received my package today (thank you!) and I can see that you paid 2690Y shipping, however I was billed 9,310Y for shipping... Obviously there was an issue in spite of what I was previously told. Please could you address this issue as soon as possible, I have always used NY for my importing needs but due to this issue I have made other arrangements for the next few figures to come out. I would like to return to NY but I am not happy with this delivery issue, especially not having been informed there was no issue when there clearly was... Best regards, . .
Sorry to hear about this dude. Thanks for sharing the story as it is helpful to a lot of us here. I know I'll be taking my orders elsewhere after those too overcharged me. So far anime export has been the cheapest total price for me. I've used HLJ, NY and Anime Export multiple times to date. This is my first problem.
same here which is why I am shocked, been buying from them for years and they're willing to lose a loyal customer over $50. Hence what I keep telling them, they obviously don't know business.
well, I just noticed I am within my Paypal protection window... Gross misrepresentation of shipping fees is what I'll be claiming. I'll give them until tomorrow.
Don't think I ran into this problem with NY... they charged the right amount for shipping (EMS Express) for 2x items. Transformers Masterpiece MP25 Tracks Item# 11285-0 $46.27 USD 2 $92.54 USD Subtotal $92.54 USD Shipping and handling $44.02 USD Total $136.56 USD Payment $136.56 USD Charge will appear on your credit card statement as "PAYPAL *NIPPONYASAN"
Wow, that is a lot of money, I paid 58 with shipping from HLJ. What is the point of them? They are similar to HLJ but that shipping is ridiculous. I Shipped 3 Tracks for 24 bucks.
Tracks is only LESS than 2,000 Yen shipping on HLJ. Sorry, dude, but you've just been ripped off by Nippon Yassan..
I just looked at their website and HOLY CRAP, their figures are (in most cases, and not just the Transformers) more than double what HLJ is asking. It's very clear why they still have some sought-after figures in stock. But I'm sorry that happened. I really hope they make it right. Shop at HLJ instead. I know that some businesses DO pay the shipping company in advance (usually an annual fee, but correct me if I'm wrong), so the advanced payment isn't unheard of, and I can imagine the post office being unable (or unwilling) to refund the difference, but I assume they'd apply that extra money towards further shipping later in the year.
If they paid it to the postal entity they used, they should have receipts that proves such that they can provide unless laws don't require it there.
yeah, that one just got a flat out bullshit from me. Thinking of showing my HLJ preorders and letting them know that by ignoring my comments and adjusting shipping they have already lost out on around 45000 Yen that would have been orders with them. Add to that the UW Devastator that they can forget about me paying for.
Amen brother. There will always be hogwash business tactics anywhere. Lesson learnt, so better to move on and go to other more reputable Asia Etailers. ;P
Same situation here, as also already mentioned in the Tracks thread. I might still choose to cancel my four outstanding pre-orders with Nippon Yasan, if I can pre-order these items elsewhere still; Ironhide, Hot Rod, Shockwave and Ratchet. Any good alternative webshop? How do HLJ and Anime-Export for example deal with customs? HLJ seems to have all of the items available for pre-order still, except for Ratchet. How are their shipping costs?
I've had experiences with both HLJ and AE. I have issues with HLJ, but their shipping prices are very fair for both SAL and for EMS. If you choose to ship with SAL, do note they do not provide a track & trace code: in effect, your package is 'lost' until it reaches you. Secondly, HLJ ALWAYS marks full value of the items on the shipping slip on the outside, AND they ship in highly recognizable HLJ logo marked boxes, which means (Dutch) customs always pick them out, hold them back a few days and charge you the regular customs taxes and import fees. I much prefer AE, due to several reasons. First of all item price, which for TF pre-orders have a standard 30% reduction compared to Japanese RRP. Secondly, they only mark shipping price (!) on their packages, which means they do not trigger customs taxes alerts. Also, their boxes are usually plain cardboard, without company logo's, which also means they move somewhat more anonymously through customs. Let me put it this way: my MP-22 Ultra Magnus was shipped by SAL and reached me within two weeks, no customs interference, in what is relatively speaking a HUGE box. Thirdly, if you request SAL shipping, they do charge a very minor extra standard fee for adding a track & trace code, which, for the Netherlands, allows tracking up till delivery. AE actually still has their pre-orders open for Ratchet. If I was you I'd definitely give it a go, even for just that one item, to see how you like their service. Pre-order payment for the item is up front: shipping costs are only requested once the item is in stock.
Oh I noticed in the latest shipping button on HLJ website, they're now offering both SAL without tracking & SAL with tracking options. I chose the SAL with tracking options on my recent MP pre-orders.
