Meet Godert Walter, a Dutch Transformers fan who has accomplished more than most during his time in the hobby. He’s built Autobot City in a farmhouse, he’s helped create the infamous Trypticon Races, he’s walked into Hasbro’s offices and secured endorsement for the Dutch Transformers conventions he’s helped to conceive and organise. Having walked away from the hobby once and returned, Godert is now extremely particular about how he curates his beautiful Transformers collection, one we can all appreciate for its imagination and ambition, much like the man himself. I recently commented on Godert's collection in the collection forum, I've never seen anything like it. Also, I wasn't introduced to TFs by Fun Factory, but when I lived in Germany in the late 80's I watched it all the time, mainly to see M.A.S.K. and Wheeled Warriors Godert, what was your handle on ATT? I was a semi-lurker who went by Delserik and Smokescreen. Just curious if I recognize the name.
A beautiful looking collection. Everything gets plenty of space to breathe and he actually sets up little scenes on each shelf! It looks way better than "50 Transformers shoved onto a bookshelf shelf all standing straight up and looking forward" Amazing collection and set-up.
An incredible interview with great stories. This man has seen and done a tremendous amount. The autobot city diorama is terrific!! Very interesting to read how he was able to sell his entire collection except for a few items and never regretted it. That's impressive. But I'm glad to hear that he is back in the game, there is so much great stuff out there these days that I feel all transformers fans should have a chance to experience.
A truly insprational display, really. One of my favs and another great read Maz, very interesting stuff. One question though, what is "that countdown thing" in relation to AFA? Am I missing something?
I love how each shelf tells different stories - little snips from different episodes and I can picture them perfectly!! His 'Fight or Flee' setup was sweet! Great interview.
From what I understand and read, there are different reasons for collecting. AFA collections certainly opposes pretty much everything collector Godert Walter believes in. He has a history of love rather than monetary value. I'd love to see and hear from a collector, particularly an AFA collector, that would break that stereotype in the collecting world. What's the Countdown thing?
If you want to see an interview with a very pro-AFA/sealed/graded collecting personality, we interviewed Jon Krause a while back: Collector Interview 08 – Jon Krause | Source Blog All the best Maz
Wow, didn't know this guy with the episode-cabinet display was the same guy who made the Autobot City set. This guy's got an eye for it.
Awesome stuff. Really like this guy's collection and display. And if he is looking for an MP Raoul he can have mine for free!
Beautiful display in the cabinet. Not just the Transformer toys but what you love about the fiction, the dynamics. Also very boxarty.
