I started a thread about something similar to this a while back about whether or not to open your toys. I started opening the ones I buy, transform them, pose them, etc. I find a bit more enjoyment out of them rather than having dozens of them in boxes. I still keep some in box, (Metroplex) for space, but overall, yea I "play" with them.

I also have a 5 yr old son, and I get a lot of enjoyment from him admiring them, asking about them, and watching him "transform." It's cool to see him get into it, if even for now.

Not since my Beast Wars toys. Now I just transform them from time to time and keep them posed.

I definitely play with my Transformers. That's what I bought them for! That and taking photos, but the two sorta fit together for me.

Much of my "play" has changed to photography and introducing characters to my nephews. "Play" is also "the hunt" for the figures as they come out, or are found in weird places like junk shops or garage sales.

Can't say I play with them anymore. That ended around the time of Armada...think I was about 25 or so. Since then, they're mostly display pieces that I occasionally bring down to play with the kids. Most of my G1/Beast Wars/RID displays are collecting dust, though. :(

Well, what I meant wasn't playing like a 4 year old kid.

Does posing them on the display shelf count as play? If so, then yes.

Recently, I've been staring at them right immediately after browsing BBTS and seeing my Combaticon preorder still not show In Stock. Random transformation noises and pew-pews occasionally.

Definitely! I get a few out every day and mess around with posing, transforming a few times, and just generally enjoying them. My kids don't really share my love for them, but if they did, I'd probably get them out to actually play too.

Yeah. That and also transforming it was what I meant by "playing".

    Yup.

They are toys, they're meant to be played with.

    ^That^

I fiddle, transform them back and forth multiple times in a row. Theres just something about the conversion engineering that is simply amazing.

I'll admit it. Alt mode Voyager Brainstorm got a quick fwoosh around the flat the other day.

    I regret nothing.

    100%

If I ever get some time to myself (which is rare with a job where I'm away from home 24-36 hours at a time and a 9 month old zipping around), I love to just go shelf by shelf and alternate them between modes. Currently, most of the shelves are in vehicle mode.

I also can't wait till my daughter is old enough and we can play with them together

If you don't play with them, you might as well be buying statues.

I like to fiddle around with them making cool poses and then transforming them again and again. I've been doing that since I was a kid when the Unicron Trilogy was out. So glad I didn't grow up with bricks!
