FINALLY.... I wake up with tears in my eyes...... after a long LONG wait for HASBRO to make TOYS again instead of simplistic garbage. Most lines since TF3-4 have been mostly crap and it is so nice to see that they have a change of heart.

I don't mean this for collectors but for our children and other children as well.... Yes toys don't pull in kids like they used to but making 1-3 step transformers that look like crap isnt the answer either. Giving the children something that might actually challenge them for more than 3 seconds is.

I realize that yes, these new Titans are still not the solid limbed figures we'd like but they are both cheaper to make, very detailed, and simplistic yet challenging enough to keep both children and collectors involved. Whats funny is that I see a lot of G1 inspired transformations here, proof that they still hold up.

I am so excited for this line I can barely contain myself. I hope whoever thought it was a good idea to make 1-3 step huge leader class toys is on the curb. This is the kind of thing that will save toy makers, not simplifying toys sooooo much that all kids/teenagers/collectors lose interest. (goodbye RiD!)

    Thoughts?

#EDIT: This is not targeting the Combiner Wars Line but other lines that have reduced simplicity.

These toys don't look any more complex than the ones from Combiner Wars. Bigger, maybe and the lack of a combiner port in every figure means more design variety but the transformation look to be on the exact same level.

The last leader class toy I bought was Generations Jetfire. While he was ok, I felt like I got robbed back then for what I paid for it, I won't get suckerd in again. Will have to wait and so what the deluxe look and feel like in hand.

Combiner Wars figures have been the only ones keeping the line somewhat alive. I realize they aren't extremely intricate but they are a lot more than RiD or TF4 lines before them. I love the Combiner Wars line I think its a perfect fit. No stores in our area even CARRY the RiD line because they sold so poorly at first but have kept Combiner Wars on shelves.

Jetfire seemed to be a very polarizing figure.... Personally I loved him for what he was. Do i wish he was more solid? of course! (he sits next to a Takara Valkyrie) But for what we got I think its a fair trade. I didn't end up with a lemon like others did but, the thought that did go into making him with the limits on how much plastic they can use now was obviously taken close to heart. We ended up with a very nicely detailed mostly easy transforming lightweight Leader Jetfire. My Classics Jetfire outweighs him but in the looks department overall I am happier with the Leader version.

My only hope is that they learn from the earlier large molds with less plastic and make things more durable without having to add more to the cost. Just because a toy is hallow in some spots doesnt mean it HAS to be weak in spots. With the love being put into the detail of some of the upcoming and current figures I think they will get a g ood balance.

The only "garbage" in the TF line is the Titan Hero shampoo bottles. Aside from that, I don't think there's anything the new Titan Returns line is doing that's better than what the Combiners did.

Heck, Combiners (to me) were better than Headmasters back in the day.

Titans is obviously a continuation of CW but it seems to be a much larger push than CW had. It seems to be just expanding on what CW did like you said. Just nice to see a focus on it instead.

The only challenge I see in this new line that steps it up from older ones is keeping track of loose noggins, because removable heads was such a great idea back in the day so let's make everything in the line do just that.

Im not a CHUG (or whatever we are calling this these days) collector but I gotta say I'm really quite impressed with the Titans Return line, nice to see this line almost following the same trajectory as the original G1 line, with solo bots followed by combiners and now headmasters.

Also I agree a lot of these look way nicer than many of the CW figures.

I'm not sure if they look nicer, and I strongly believe these will be plagued by same issues we've seen (low QC, hollow limbs, light plastic, clip-on wheels, etc. etc. etc.).

But the pictures (computer renders) ARE IMPRESSIVE. This is the honeymoon phase - we're supposed to be enamored and enchanted. When we get the actual toys? Ehhh, things may turn sour the first she goes to the toilet and doesn't shut the door? :lol

But mostly, these are the toys I love the most - full-fledged vehicles with minibot pilots, and they all transform! :D  It's like Micronauts merged with TFs and GI Joe. :D

For Generations yes. These newer figures feel like nice throwbacks to g1. I don't want all of my figures to transform like rotf leader Optimus.

I actually would argue clip-on wheels have stopped really being a problem as they look just as good as through-axle pin mounted wheels as long as they're given painted hubcaps. At least in my opinion, as the quality of the clip-ons with my Stunticons far exceeds the quality on my Prime Vehicon and Knock Out.

    My current worry is:

Will the new Headmasters have the same breakable head like Brainstorm?

They look the same to me. Take a G1 toy, add updated joints for better posing...you'd get these.

I'm guessing not. The real issue with Brainstorm wasn't the neck, just poor paint QC leading to a tighter joint than they wanted. Once they caught the problem and re-released the variant the head/neck had far less problems.

Along those lines, it looks like the new Headmasters don't use a ball joint for the neck on the little guy, which will hopefully make the connection sturdier. I get what they wanted to do with Head Converts to Pilot, but personally I don't think those to be super poseable given they serve really only two purposes.

Yeah, they're open. Looks like the same hollowness, simplicity, and G1 masturbation as T30 and CW.

I'll be excited when we get some new BW stuff for the 20th anniversary, since Waspinator, Rhinox, and Rattrap were the only ones that offered a challenging transformation and impressive design in the T30 line (although, not without some QC issues. That seems to be a Hasbro-wide problem).

Edit: My apologies, Springer was also pretty great.
