As a kid, I'm pretty sure that most of us have broken at least one toy. I certainly have. So are there any toys you regret breaking and can't really move past? For me: -Armada Star Saber -Energon Ironhide (I'm out of Powerlinx partners for Rodimus since I never got Prowl, and Ironhide was the only one left) -Energon Optimus Prime
When I was a little tyke I was battling my Beast Wars Ultra Optimus Primal and Megatron. Megatron took a fall off the table and one of the hinge pieces that holds the Dino mode chest flap broke off. I was devastated for the longest time and couldn't seem to find a cheap enough replacement. Then when I was in college, I visited my roommate's house one weekend. I found a junker BW Megatron in his closet with the hinge intact, so I "borrowed" it and swapped the parts out. I don't think he ever knew...
ROTF Bludgeon - granted it's a well known problem at this point but goddamn the fact you have to force the big sword handle/cannon barrel into his palms and the inevitable breakage this causes still pisses me off. Tried gluing his fingers back on but it's only good enough to hold them on - they'll just break off the second I try to put the sword back in his grip. Also still annoyed I broke one of the arms off of the KO RID Ro-Tor a few years back on the shoulder hinge. No real money lost - paid like, a $1 for him - but he can't leave alt. mode anymore (don't have any combiner pieces or even the Onslaught repaint to make Ruination so that's not a concern).
One of my earliest memories involves breaking off G1 Optimus' arm during transformation. I was about 5 years old. Going from truck to robot, instead off pulling the straight back before trying to turn it forward, I just tried to swing it forward and it snapped right off. I had no way to repair it while maintaining functionality. I still remember that lesson vividly every time I handle my Commemorative edition. The second one involved Powermaster Optimus' trailer peg 3 years later. Since losing G1 Optimus, and being unable to get a replacement (Transformers were sparse in my hometown), I was on cloud 9 upon discovering that not only was Optimus coming back (and back to life!) but in an upgraded super body! The night of purchase, in hyperactive bliss, I drove my new Prime around the living room in faster and faster circles, when *POP!* the trailer spun off into the couch. At least it didn't affect his bot modes!
beast wars rattrap, the one with wheels. he was my favorite as a kid, then i broke the wheel somehow.....dad took my toys in the divorce......anyways,still miss it also, my brother melted my general grievous wheelbike former when we fought for 2 weeks straight, still hasn't paid me back.
BW Optimal Optimus Armada Unicron ROTF Bludgeon. Although, my mother broke the first one. I have yet to find a good replacement one.
Biggest regret I had was not listening about GPS when I was messing with my BW TM Megatron and it snapped as others have reported. I regretted not listening and on a related note, I regret not getting the Beast Wars Metals release from Takara that has corrected the GPS issue.
Animated Deluxe Megs for sure & also the first movie old camaro Bumblebee. I didn't break them but I wish I didn't lose Movie Overcast's arm & Chopsaw's head as well.
G1 Megatron's arms, Hook's leg, Mirage's waist, Doubledealer's leg, and Jetfire's shoulder. Everyone but Hook is fixed now but they were out of commission for most of the time I've owned them.
A better thread would be one you don't regret breaking, in that case rotf scalpel, peice of shit deserved what it got!
I won a mimb Stalker a few years ago for like, 8 bucks, and I got him out, put his stickers on and he looked great...I put his gun in his hand and within 5 minute's broke that teeny tiny gun peg off in his fist.....dammit.
Wait, so you regret that the one you had broke, or that you basically stole a figure from your roommate? Who digs through their roommate's closet for stuff?
As a kid I honestly don't remember breaking any of my transformers. I was incredibly careful with my toys (my brother was the total opposite). I'd always look through the instructions carefully and follow them. As an adult I still haven't broken anything either... even MP Rodimus remains intact. The only figure I've thrown out completely was the one-step RID Underbite. The spring mechanism on it got fucked up and I made a poorly thought out attempt to fix it but opening it up, only to find it impossible to put back together.
I firmly believe that there exists nothing that won't eventually break if it ends up in my collection... bugger if I know why, just my rotten fudging luck I suppose...... List of most memorable breaks though; G2 Optimus Prime, G2 cyberjets, G2 Volt, BW transmetal Optimus Primal, BW transmetal Megatron(thanks a lot GPS), BW Rampage, BW Transmetal 2 Cheetor, Armada Wheeljack, and a bunch of Armada Mini-cons(why did so many of those stupid little things have translucent plastic?)
But this reminds me, there are a lot of oooold toys (since apparently I can't get rid of anything) with the weirdest types of damage. Like bite marks, scissors/clippers cuts, pin holes (as in literally skewering a toy on a pin), glue, paint, dirt in every crevice, limbs torn off, teeth broken off... The hell did I do as a kid?
