My 8 year old is CW mad. LOVES them, wants them all... adores Devastator and saved REALLY hard to ensure he had enough money to buy it for himself. I do have to say that G1 is one of his favourite cartoons though... even moreso now he has toys that look somewhat like those in the G1 toons.

RID - well - he doesn't mind them. He collects dinobots but he isn't a fan of green grimlock and he would rather watch Rescuebots... He's got a couple of the Japanese releases and likes them but he doesn't play with them as much as his CW. In the RID 2015 line he seems to have the most fun with the legions and minicons. His CW's toys get a daily thrashing and are still going strong.

Ha-ha, every time I get a TF, my 11yo son has something to say, be it a negative or a critique, never usually a positive (he tends to take after his Ma in that regard :)  ) Last week was my birthday, I got the UW Menasor, he said, where's the trailer for MM, what's up with his head, why are two of the cars the same? All valid complaints, mind you. Got the G1 reissue Coneheads he said, that's cool but why isn't the box cool like all your other G1 reissue stuff? Got Badcube Wardog, he says, that's awesome but..........why don't the tank treads move, shouldn't he be more red, I like his tank but his robot is a little big ain't it Dad? He sounds just as bad as guys on this site, myself included. Maybe he has a profile on here in secret?

My little brother is 2. He wants a turn of my Transformers any time he sees them.

But if I bring him an RID one, he actually looks a little insulted and ditches it. He points to the Masterpiece or when I had it CHUG/CW toys and says "This one! This one!"

RID, particularly Strongarm, Steeljaw etc., tends to shelfwarm around here. I rarely see CW besides Armada Megatron.

Back to my little brother, obviously he can't transform the toys yet, but he really enjoys combining them. Because I hold a torso and he has a leg, ('Shoes on!") he really feels like he's helping. It's adorable.ar

Weellll I'm part of the pre-teen demographic so I'm allowed to answer this..

I love CW. IMO it's one of the best toy lines Hasbro ha some in years. While I may be stuck with only 3/5 of Superion they are good, quality toys. Hell, just seeing them on the shelves makes me wonder if it just last year we had to deal with shelfwarming AOE toys.

RID is...harmless. I'm only collecting the Legions and the occasional Warrior but I'm finding myself actually quite endeared by the simple gimmick toys like Deployers and One-steps(though i will admit they are overstaurating the line with them). I don't see any harm in simplifying the toyline. I'm also actively following the Adventure line if that counts.

My younger brother shares my viewpoint, more or less. He's way more into RID than I am, if only because of the Decepticons(or lack thereof). He prefers CW as well.

Both lines seem to sell quite well here, with the exceptions of RID Warriors Strongarm and Steeljaw, both of which tend to linger linger on pegs. I've had no difficulty finding CW toys (exp. Blackjack and Huffer) here, it's ironically RID that is in a bit of shortage(Warriors wave 3 and 4 haven't been made available at mass retail yet while the Clash line, Titans and Tiny Titans are nowhere to be found).

My kids have not seen neo-RiD. So, I guess they really don't have much of an opinion. But they really liked Prime. My young daughter liked Arcee.

My 11-year-old son pretty much sticks with Legends/Cyberverse sized characters. He's also more interested in characters he doesn't own rather than an endless supply of Optimus and BB variations. He recently obtained a Prime Unicron Megatron from a local tradeshow (TFExpo) and that's his favorite at the moment.

I knew people in real life who thought that. It always bugged the hell out of me.

I have no idea if the kids like Combiner Wars or RID. I don't know any kids personally at the moment.

My 7 year old is looking forward to getting his Devestator this Christmas. He hasn't shown too much interest in the NuRiD stuff though. He likes Legion Fixit but that's about it.

id have imagined they thought TF was ripping off power ranger with the combining robot thing. but then again maybe not.

CW flies off the shelves here, but not RiD

I'd be curious to know what kids really think, but regardless I think Combiner Wars was a big success. I think they got the sales from the adult collectors for sure.

I hardly saw them on shelves. I mean they certainly haven't shelf warmed like the last 2 movies.

I'd be curious to know what kids that don't have parents that are Transformers fans think. It's no surprise that most kids on these boards would like CW over RID since that's the majority opinion of the fans (i.e. their parents), or that these kids like Transformers at all.

As somebody who's 15, I can comment personally, right?

Right? Fuck it, as long as I can't drive a car, sure I am.
RID figures are... okay, although you can tell the Warrior figures suffer because of those Titan Warriors, Super Bumblebees and whatnot. Hell, absolutely EVERYTHING does. Also, eye-burning or GTFO for Combiner wars. Unless it's Sky Lynx. He's cool.

See, this is the kind of behavior that I would cultivate in my children, if I chose to have any.
