I was originally excited for this guy for his supposed G1 likeness. The promo images on the card show him with metallic gold paint which must be the Takara version. The stock images on BBTS and other places show him with bright yellow plastic, downgrade but still cool and more G1 cartoon accurate. But sadly the in hand product is orange. Has the Takara one been released? Any links to buy or in hand pictures? I couldn't find the Takara version on BBTS.
Ummm.... Takara hasn't announced any plans for a repaint of the warrior class figure. They do have the battle Grimlock figure though, which is much better:
I guess that's why I couldn't find a listing anywhere! Wow, Hasbro really dropped the ball on this one as far as coloring goes. I will check out battle Grimlock.
Hasbro's on-packaging promo images depict spray-painted prototypes after several minutes in Photoshop, not Takara versions.
Interesting! I never knew this. I assumed they were photoshopped but always thought they resembled the Takara versions because of better detail and more paint apps. I guess the similarities in some were coincidence.
I need that Battle Grimlock, then I can dump that awful 3 step. I haven't followed this line much, show is great but the toyline hasn't interested me beyond the main cast.
