Do you think the 2015 deluxes are the new standard for deluxes?

In another thread I was referencing deluxes, and everyone was saying they don't have the specific articulation I was asking for.

In 2014 that articulation existed, in 2015, it went away.

Personally I don't believe the new deluxes are the standard that the deluxe will go with from this point forward. Personally I believe this was done for the combiner gimmick and once the CW line is done, we will be back to old 2014 standard of deluxes.

    What do you guys think?

Now, please no damn economics talk, yada, yada, yada. Just your thoughts on the matter is fine. We can all go to forbes.com if we want to speak about net profits or foreign production or gas prices.

I am asking a simple question with a simple answer. Do you think there are the new deluxes going forward after CW finishes?

If they stay like this I'd be fine with it. These deluxes are the best in years. Huh I wonder what titan wars will provide for deluxes hmm

I'm sure Titan Wars deluxes will be different from Combiner Wars deluxes. Just as Energon deluxes were different from Cybertron.

I think the 2015 CW deluxes suffer individually from having to be an appendage along with a car (plane, truck, etc.,.) and robot. That is why they are pretty much all the same and why new figures are just remolds and repaints of existing figures. There is really not much you can do differently with them and keep them working within the combiner line. I feel that the legion toys show us that. They are not having to work as anything else and so it's just a continuation of '13-'14 legions class toys. That said, I see no reason for the deluxes following this line to be the same as pre CW. They presumably won't have to shoehorn them into a gimmick.

Agree with the above. The CW limbs sacrifice individual joints (ankles/wrists) in order to provide the combined mode with nearly full pose-ability in the limbs.

I also agree with those who think the high amount of retool/repaints this year are to help facilitate the sheer number of figures/teams we've gotten.

If it is then I'm completely fine with it, these are good fun figures.

If we get more intricate joints once the combining gimmick goes away, then all the merrier.

Agreed. When we go back to deluxes that don't have to also be limbs we'll probably see more complex robot modes again. I wouldn't bet on every figure having wrist rotation or ankle tilt, though, because those weren't standard even before Combiner Wars (and I have a bunch of AoE Dinobots with sideways hands to prove it).

It'll be interesting to see if they sacrifice some poseability if the next round of Deluxe figures also have Target/Head/Powermaster gimmicks.

I don't think Brainstorm suffered anything like that. The head was hit and miss at first, until they figured it out. And Universe 2.0 Cyclonus was a targetmaster and a pretty good toy as a standalone. Scoop on the other hand was a bit simple and his mates were not as complicated as Cyclonus's mate. If anything Blaster/Soundwave may suffer from having to be a base as well as bot/alt.

That's less likely since those gimmicks don't involve the whole body.

i don't think we'll ever see a deluxe figure like WFC prime ever again, that's a damn shame.

that figure has everything i want.. he looks pretty accurate, he's got a nice and interesting transformation (granted i know that not all transformations need to be interesting) he's got flip out but still articulated wrists, and articulated ankles.

we'll definitely never see anything like that figure again.

I hope that with all the money hasbro and takara saved with repaints this year they can splurge a little next year.

But Brainstorm suffered in terms of transformation.

No, the 2015 Deluxe figures all have four modes to have to worry about plus need to dedicate some parts for the hand/foot weapons. Whatever comes after will go back to worrying about what the transformation wants to do and such, though I'm not sure about the 2014 standard. Transformations will be more unique, at least, given they don't all have to be either an articulated arm or leg, but articulation may not be as generous as you're hoping.

Then again I'd have better luck predicting the future of Deluxe class Transformers if I were to ask a Magic 8 Ball... with the viewing lens all scratched out.

However they require additional molding and parts for the accessories/Masters.

How complex did that Transformation need to be?

I gotta be honest, while some of the deluxes have been hit and miss, for the most part I've been very pleased with the cw deluxes. Yes there have been so many repaints and so many re-uses of molds. But I think the figures have been good, they pose well individually and their vehicle modes are solid. I'd be happier without all the repaints. But with the exclusion of a few "meh" deluxes I think they've been good. I am still in love with both streetwise, and Rook. I think they are 2 of the best we've seen so far, as was breakdown. I feel the CW deluxes don't feel as cheap as some of my previous "generations" do.... I think back to my generations bb or nightbeat, or even my generations trailcutterm none of which felt sturdy... and felt cheapy. The Leader class for CW has been hit and miss, Megatron and TC look very sturdy, while UM felt cheap.

The combiner modes pretty much universally suck to me.

Individually there are small and way to much hollow stuff you can see.

Waves fucking killed this line more than anything else. I would attempt to complete Superion the right way, but I'm not wasting time hunting stupid shit down, I shouldn't have to......

I couldn't even get a damn Constructicon set that was assembled right after spending a $138 on it....

Lot of fail in this line.

I pray for a return of Generations anything that I actually want to buy.

I personally don't need insane articulation. Honestly as long as it has good arms and legs I am fine oh yeah, elbows. I don't need spinning wrists and ankle joints.
