So how many of these are floating around as piles of crap?

Finally, my 5 yr old wanted to start watching Transformers(started season 2 today) and was saving odds and ends for him and I to do together when we have time.

So today was bust out Devastator day.

Amused and impressed on a base level with it. Would have gladly payed another few bucks to get some damn arms with joints............(wtf there??)

But #@#$$% Hook has two of the same goddamned shin panels but the correct feet. So the damn thing won't fold up to roll on the ground(THIS IS DIRECTED AT TAKARA AND HASBRO, ANYTHING YOU DUMBASSES MAKE WITH WHEELS SHOULD ROLL BECAUSE ITS THE FIRST THING ANY ACTUAL KID DOES WITH IT, THAT PISSES MY LITTLE GUY OFF WHEN WE GET TIME TO PLAY). Yes I know mine is flawed, but if it has wheels a kid will roll it period.

So I have Hook with two of the same shins. Someone else had no combiner parts. Another post had two right hands. So how many of these things are screwed up?

I think it is extremely piss poor of them to sell things at this kind of price point and they still cannot build them right.

Its a good figure, not great due to you can easily see where they scrimped on it. But damn, they can't even give you a complete functioning one in a box?

This shit has to be embarrassment to them.

I amassed roughly 170 G1 figures back in the day from gifts, purchases, trades and selling He-Man and GI Joe for them. Never had an outright broken one or one missing pieces from the factory in the bunch of them. Had one issue and had to return Apeface because his Headmaster plugged in exactly twice and no more. One fault out of 170 figures 30 years ago......

We could make a easy thousand page thread on Hasbro/Takara QC issues from the last few years alone.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm sure there are other complaints out there.

As for missing or mismatched parts, I think the fault should be on factory/packing facility. Imo It's beyond Hasbro control.

Somebody on the boards contacted Hasbro about a defective Constructicon, and they said they were sending him a replacement, no problem.

Hasbro actually having parts or pieces to anything?

    That's a first.

Figured it would be store return only.

Tbh, my scavenger needs a lot of tightening work. That's the negative about a box set. Something is fucked, you gotta return the whole set. Then get another set with issues.

Luckily I don't mind the work.

Yep, our Devastator was missing the entire bag of combining parts and weapons. It's for my son's birthday next month, but I decided to just make sure everything was in place before we wrapped it up.

What a pleasant surprise. After way too much effort, I finally tracked down a replacement and had them open it at the counter to make sure everything was included.

Made sure to write down all the box numbers and such to report it to Hasbro. They were super-understanding and blew me away with a $3 coupon off a future purchase.

Neither of us should have to work....... They should make it right.

Just seriously pissed me off, especially since the 5 yr old is wanting to watch episodes and play with them now.

So Hasbro did nothing in the end for you parts wise or replacement pieces???

I did email them within the last hour or so, so I will see what they say.
I will post back. Hopefully other folks chime in with problems and maybe some folks can swap parts and the like.

The Scrapper in my set had the middle pin on the dozer arms shot right through the side about a half inch from the right pre molded hole. The fist time I tried to transform him I thought it was strange that the dozer blade wouldn't move. A quick close look and I saw the problem.

Out came my watch repair kit. I had to remove the pin and align it properly. Now Devastator can transform and stand. Until we get wheels with pins again, the characters will never roll right.

I have a lot of tightening to do, hip ratchets to fix, and a myriad of other problems to make each figure work the way they should. I've had to fix 60% of the Combiner Wars figures I have bought. If it isn't loose legs, it's mold flashing causing socket issues.

My son's Drag Strip had a nose swivel joint that was fused. He tried to twist it and the nose broke off. I tried to remove the broken piece so I could repair the figure but it was completely fused. So that figure lasted less than five minutes.

I really do feel like I need to disassemble each CW figure and rebuild them properly. I don't want to give my son figures that aren't fun to play with because of the flaws.

Yes these are toys, but I design protective products that sell for $30 and if I don't do my job right and make sure the factory follows my instructions, people can die. Is it wrong to expect that a simple wheel work right in a toy?

Man, with all the horror stories I'm hearing, I'm glad I didn't have the money for Devastator when I saw him at TRU the other day...

That's the shitty thing about it...I mean, who's going to ship the thing back to China to get a replacement? Best thing you can hope for is that the company gives you some kind of partial refund. Lucky for me, that's usually worked out well in the past.

Can't say I've had anything like this happen to me so far...lucky.

Nothing at all. They only offered to let me ship the entire set to them, and they'd replace it with something of equal value. Which, in my experience with their QC issues, would be six CW Primes.

Still excited to see the little guy's face when it's time to break him out!

Mine had the same problem. Fortunately, I was able to swap my Scavenger with one at TRU. The store just treated the in-store version as the "returned" set.

I know Hasbro doesn't have a spotless track record but were they rushing Devastator or something?!

I'm glad I bought it, and I didn't have any missing pieces, but for how solid the figures mostly feel, the tiny little hinges used for elbows on Hook and Mixmaster (and, to a lesser extent, Long Haul) feel like a glaring oversight to me. I don't understand why they couldn't have at least done ball joints, like they did for Scavenger and Bonecrusher.

I was planning on painting mine and possibly re-selling it anyhow, and I expect most people will be displaying in combined mode, so maybe it's a moot point. Or maybe I'll see what the third party companies come up with for replacement parts. But really, the figures have a good solid feel to them, and then these flimsy joints just look like they're waiting to break if I sneeze. Much worse than I expected.

You secretly hoped this thing to be a spectacular failure aren't you? Just go enjoy your expensive 3P combiners & let others enjoy their cheap hasbro one. What's wrong with that?

As for Titan Devy this is the Devastator that I've always wanted as kid in the 80's. None of the 3P pretenders such as TFC Hercules or Maketoys Giant fits the bill for me.

Maybe you're just in denial that the current CW has been well received. Your sig is very obvious.

Mine is due to arrive today from Amazon. It is for my son for Christmas. Guess I need to open it up and inspect it so I can send it back if necessary.
