Another this or that question from me. Get used to it, I'm an Indescisive person.

So I want a good toy of MTMTE Cyclonus for the crew. There's two good toy molds of Cyclonus available, one of whom is in stores right now. So question is, which should I get to be IDW's phenomenally stern ex - zombie non - Decepticon Whirl - hater? Universe deluxe(or variants thereof) or CW voyager Cyclonus?

Also I'm aware of the 3P upgrade kit to turn RTS Cyclonus into MTMTE, but I don't plan on investing in 3P.

CW Cyclonus for me. He scales much better with Whirl and Tailgate, and I prefer his design. RtS Cyclonus is a decent toy but Cyclonus as a Deluxe was always weird to me...let alone Galvatron.

RTS. Easily. The CW one is a joke.

    CW Cyclonus.

As others have said, he scales better with other recently released figures, and IIRC, he has a fold-down horn to give the "damaged" look from the IDW comics.

My vote goes to the TFU 2.0/RTS mold. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the CW mold isn't fun but the one thing I loved about Cyclonus is how sleek his jet mode looks. It's hard to have that look when you have a bunch of kibble underneath like CW Cyclonus does.

I like CW Cyclonus. Actually I like both, but I like CW more. When nonnef eventually does a kit to IDWize him, I'll likely like him better.

I'm still hoping TT uses that version of the mold and paints in a lighter purple with silver wings and ears.

The Battle in Space Cyclonus is better than the RtS version (color-wise), but I actually like the heft of the CW mold. I may get a second one to get rid of the combiner parts to make it a better Cyclonus.

I have both, along with KFC's Tempest. For my IDW display, RTS Cyclonus works best. I'm eagerly awaiting Maketoys to release their upgrade set.

CW Cyclonus is in my CW display. Once I get some limbs for him (thinking of repainting some Aerialbots as seekers) he'll be in torso mode most of the time.

As for KFC's Tempest.... he's the redheaded stepchild of the Cyclonuses (Cycloni?). I like him though. He's in a separate TFTM/season 3 and beyond display.

I care nothing about IDW's version, but IMO you can't go far wrong with either mold for G1 Cyclonus. Both have their strong points and flaws. CW inherits Silverbolt's traditional "jet carrying a folded up robot" altmode, but Universe/RTS has the unstable rear section formed from his legs. In robot mode both are excellent.

Personally, I use CW as Cyclonus, and Universe and RTS as two members of his Armada along with Viper. CW Cyclonus now wields Nightstick rather than the repainted Superion gun.

The RtS version is my Cyclonus without a doubt. I still own the original Universe 2.0 figure, but the colours just don't quite pop like on the RtS or Henkei versions. CW Cyclonus just didn't look quite right in robot mode to me.

I do wish that I had the Challenge at Cybertron iteration though, but the minor difference (Decepticon emblem as opposed to the rubsign) isn't worth the hassle.

The CW Cyclonus looks to be good in it's own right but I think if you're aiming for a more MTMTE based Cyclonus the RTS/Universe is a better representation of that especially if you pick up the upcoming 3rd party upgrade from Maketoys to convert him into his IDW design.
