I'm on the fence about buying this toy, should I?

  1. Yes, it's big, multifunctionally fun, beautiful and everything

So I was planning to buy the Supreme version of this mould coming out later this year with that gigantic sword of coming winter murder death-xtinction.

But after seeing a review on Youtube (yes, there's one already) saying the toy though full of fun and Optimus themed gimmicks (working trailer, moulded-in matrix that lights up, axe weapon), a MAJOR FLAW is that it doesn't peg together really well and it IS too delicate and filmsy for such a price.

So how do you feel about TAV-21? And since I'm kind of quality obsessed (even though I do like the toy), do you suggest I bought it or spend my money on another Optimus more worthy? If so what other toy do you recommend (in g1 or aligned aethestic should do)

I just got mine today... First impression is disappointment. I was really excited. He LOOKS good, but he's hard to lock together and feels... delicate. The thing I dislike the most though is the way he has to hold his weapons. It was a neat idea to have the flip out handle, but the weight of the attachments makes it droop so it doesn't even look like he's holding it.

He's not bad, but not worth $60 either.

Edit: I didn't answer your poll because neither was my feeling. He's not everything I hoped for but I don't see him breaking.

I'm still looking forward to this myself and hopefully he won't be that bad. This figure's existence, along with the FOC Grimlock retool, is the reason I pulled the trigger to collect this line (since the domestic releases are lacking for good scale for those guys), so I hope I'm not disappointed...

It looks ok. But I've stopped collecting anything that doesn't fit CHUG or MP so it's an absolute pass for me. Certainly better than the crappy small Warrior Hasbro toy.

Now that I've transformed him a few times... He's not TERRIBLE. He's just slightly disappointing. I don't regret getting him.

His inner-legs look terrible, he's oversized, and the lights and sounds are useless to me.
I prefer the warrior class figure.

It's better than the Warrior at least. I'm holding out for TAV33 over this one.

Wait there's QC issues? That sucks. Hopefully the retool won't have these issues.

From what I've seen in a review, he hasn't QC at all, he just suffers from having thin plastic and extreme cost cutting (they omitted a few pegs here and there) that he doesn't stay together very well.

But the thin plastic also results in his knee joints having stress marks. So ..... call it QC if you feel like.

Good amount of revealing feedback here, sounds like the big guy has some pretty big issues. I wonder if any of these problems will be fixed for the Supreme Prime release later this year.

wow, btw thanks for all the feedbacks people.

So If I'm not buying this Optimus, what other Optimuses do you recommend, cus I really want a decent Optimus with either G1 or Aligned inspired look in my collection. (3rd party is acceptable)

I lack good vocabulary. So I'll call it QC.

    G1?

...If I say MP10 will you come after me with a pitchfork?

Of all the figures out there and all you have is the ever popular (and generic looking) MP-10?!
To answer your question, yes, and I shall carve out your face with it. :p

8 voters and it's still a tie, most amusing

Anyway, any suggestions on a better Optimus Prime? 3rd party is acceptable. Thanks

The only good modern Optimus figures you'll really find right now are MP-10 or TFP First Edition Optimus. ToyWorld Orion is decent, but is just missing.... something, CW Optimus is mediocre at best, and the RID Optimus figures aren't doing it for you. I'm not sure how MP-10 is "generic" looking; it looks like Optimus Prime, simple as that. For being a flagship character, Optimus doesn't actually get that many toys.

ah, sorry for my confusing vocabulary.
I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy so I always expect my Optimus toy to be some kind of super robot. So a rather dynamic and Cybertronian design is always more preferable for me.

Well if that's the case maybe look into the various Optimus Prime offerings from Prime Beast Hunters. That's about as cybertronian as I can think of in terms of modern Op figures.

Not out yet but might fit your liking: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...2905-spark-toys-war-within-optimus-prime.html
