While I think Combiner Wars Skylynx looks cool I can't help but think that his combiner mode would have looked so much better if instead of cars his partners had beast mode alts. This brought to mind the Monsterbots who I feel are due for some new molds. And yes I know there are only 3 Monsterbots but Combiner Wars has already added new members to other groups so why not one more? Anyway what do you think should Skylynx have gotten the Monsterbots as partners? If not what group would you have liked to seen him teamed with?
I would have liked to see him teamed up with no one and just made as a unique leader class like Magnus in all honesty. But if he had to be teamed up with something I'd take ANY Autobots that aren't just inferior versions of toys we already got a few years ago. If they did something like...Beachcomber from Swindle, Brawn from Offroad, Guzzle from Brawl instead of the ones we got they would automatically turn from a pass to a buy because we don't have those characters at that size class yet in any Classics line.
Considering his Alt mode is a shuttle, he could have combined with 4 space themed limbs instead. But if Hasbro really wanted to troll the fandom they'd make him combine with Dinobot limbs, but not Grimlock, cuz he's starring in NuRID. I would laugh so hard if they did that. And then cry. It'd be an emotional rollercoaster!
That would entail making more molds. Apparently not Hasbro's thing this year. Wether or not it's the best choice, it wouldn't be a bad choice.
I'm giving him Alpha Bravo and Rook. I might repaint two more limbs blue/white to give him his own team.
That was my idea in the CW Predictions thread as a way to re-mold & re-use theoretical Terrorcon limbs. But ya, as said, seems Hasbro is not investing in very many new molds Representing other neglected Autobots would be fine. Guzzle from Brawl though? Repainting an olive drab tank as an olive drab tank? No thank you.
my gut tells me the Sky Lynx mold will be remolded into a more animal base combiner team like Terrorcons, Pironicons and Predacons. So if you want, you can give Sky Lynx limbs from those future presumed sets.
I know it'd never happen in a million years, but I'd love to make this: Have Sky Lynx split into a shuttle and crawler, have 2 limbs turn into rocket boosters (in this case I wouldn't mind there being a repaint), and the last 2 combine into the fuel tank (which could be jazzed up as another rocket or something). Monstrous bot modes would also be ideal, both to fit in with Sky Lynx's theme and because it might be easier to have a hyper-thin rocket transformer not worry about "correct" proportions. Or just generic space things would be neat, too. Rovers, satellites, etc.. Maybe make him somehow backwards-compatible with Cosmos.
An alt mode like that that splits into components(maybe no individual bot modes) and combines into 1 giant bot is what I've imagined for an update of Omega Supreme. Sky Lynx re-used for beast combiners? Hasbro stated at Botcon they have no plans for beast combiners. Now, sure, eventually things they have no plans for do happen, but that's eventually. I'm going to, sadly, believe them at face value that they have no current plans for beast combiners. Maybe they've started plans for them now, but that'd probably mean at least 2 years from now before they'd show up. And I really don't think it's at all feasible to remold Sky Lynx into Hun-Grrr, Snaptrap or Razorclaw. At least not if you want them to have robot modes and alt modes appropriate to themselves. Because to do that, I cannot figure what parts for Sky Lynx would still be re-used. If you want Hun-Grrr to have a 1-headed mode with shuttle detailing, maybe... otherwise there are not parts that would be re-used. Sky Lynx's limbs would have to be remolded to make a robot mode. Or maybe 1 set of limbs could be re-used, but that's very, very little re-use to both with it being a re-mold instead of a new mold all together. The re-use I see for Sky Lynx is Hasbro giving us a bit of an update/homage to Trypticon. Same alt mode and beast mode as Sky Lynx(maybe beast head tweaks?) and then a dinosaur-like Trypticon head for torso mode as well.
we are also getting a tan brawl to go with the brown onslaught, so simple headswap solves the problem of owning 2 brawls edit: and yes, a space and/or beast themed team for sky lynx would be awesome, even add cosmos to complete it
Are you saying we're getting 2 differently colored Brawls? I haven't heard anything of that. I know there will be a "running change" with Onslaught, but what specifically each Onslaught will look like??? I think there's only photos of the first Onslaught so far, right? Or are you saying the Brawl we're getting is tan and not green? I think that might be a matter of color perception, which is why I said "olive drab". I think it'll be a dull green that some people will see as tan/brown... but that's the same color Guzzle should be.
oooohhhhhh, never mind. the cw display pics look tan, but the official renders are green, thats why i said that.
