My MP-5 eBay UK listings keep getting removed – can anyone offer advice? I have now had two listings removed, despite there being no reference to the 'replica firearm' nonsense that eBay are pushing. I note that there are quite a few US listings that don't seem to have fallen foul of this annoying 'rule'. If anyone offer any advice / hints / tips (other than don't bother with eBay) I'd be most grateful, it's incredibly frustrating!
I know you specifically said you didn't want this bit of advice, but might you have more luck selling it here on the boards? If you've not done it before I can tell you I've had lots of positive experience selling and buying from members here.
IIRC a few years ago a lot of the listings are pulled because they're reported by a fella who then emails the seller to buy the pulled MP5 cheap. He then lists the MP5 himself and sells on eBay himself. Don't remember what that user was called.
Yeah that is a possibility. How does one use the boards for selling? I've had a look and can't find any specific areas. Would I just start a new thread? I've also tried the Transformers UK Xchange page on Facebook, but without much luck. God forbid I slum it on Gumtree… Also, who has any (serious!) input into price?
Track down and Maim Altermore/Canned Goods. Once his typing fingers are gone he can't report anything.
I had the same issues selling Hegemon, my advice would be to sell it as a buy it now rather than an auction, and hope you sell it before eBay spot it! Also make sure there aren't any photos or mention of a gun mode so that someone who doesn't know any better wouldn't be able to pick up on it.
Thanks, though I fear now it's / I'm on eBay UK's radar this'll be pretty tricky. Might try and sneak it through on my wife's account though…
Give up with trying on eBay. I got my account suspended for a week for relisting in various different ways a few years ago. Last attempt had no reference of guns, Megatron or anything. It was as generic as I could get it but still got pulled. They even pulled a non transforming custom I made.......it couldn't even resemble a gun but got pulled for the firearms rule. Facebook selling groups or forums is the only way.
I sold my Mp05 on eBay without it being pulled. In the description, I simply called him something like "Decepticon leader Masterpiece figure, Optimus Prime's arch enemy ;-). Email me if you want a pic." to avoid referring to the gun alt mode, calling him Megatron, or showing a pic to all and sundry. At any rate, it worked and I sold him for a good price.
I think this is the right advice. Their rules are their rules. It's not right asking how to get around them.
I've gotten annoyed by the same thing. I wouldn't mind but if you look at completed listing you know SOME people are selling MP-05! Thought about sighing up to sell it on Amazon but I've not tried it yet... As is, if anyone else wants an MP-05 let me know. Especially if you're in the UK. Steve.
What a runaround! I've stooped to listing it on US eBay, apparently that's kosher (possibly) when I spoke to eBay earlier. They also asked me to dob in any other MP-5 listings I saw, cheeky fuckers! Tigerblade I can totally see that happening, don't really want that! But yes as you say Mark, there's no getting round the rules (even though there are new MP-5 listings up already) Steve I've half-looked at Amazon, but not sure if many people would be browsing for this sort of gear on there, might be worth a pop You know though, despite all this, I am still kinda fond of old Megs – if nothing else, his die-cast feet are amazing (call me weird)
