With Pre-orders popping up for both the Hasbro and Takara versions of Devastator, and a lot of us have probably decided which we'll get.

If I get him, which I think I will, I'm going with the Hasbro version. Mine will stay in combined mode so the elbows don't matter to me, and the extra guns would need to be stored somehow. I do think the Takara one is better, but not $70+ better.

Can I say that I like the both individual modes of the costructicons. The elbows on Long Haul I can look past.I think they are all cool.I will be getting the Hasbro version because the Tak version is so blasted expensive.

I was going for the Takara Devastator... until I saw the price, now I'm getting Hasbro's + 3P upgrades.

Takara. I already have to spend almost $200 CAD for a toy. I may as well pay the extra $50-$60 to be completey satisfied with it out of the box. Saving up the extra cash is easy when I skip the crap like Optimus, Cyclonus, and all of wave 4. :)

Unless you're able to get Hasbro Devastator discounted for like 15% off or more getting Hasbro + 3P is probably going to end up costing more anyway.

considering the takara is the same price as hasbro the only difference in cost is paying for shipping which since I have several other figures slated for around that time frame means its not going to be that painful. the cost for shipping is going to be worth it to me since I plan on displaying them as individual bot modes (other than long haul... he can stay in truck form).
just preordered the Takara version this morning (approx 147 USD) from Anime-export

I'm getting both. Hasbro's Devy will be staying in combined mode, and will have some 3P add-ons (not sure which ones yet).
My Takara Constructicons will stay as individual 'bots and vehicles. With possibly some choice 3P add-ons like the crane arm from Dr. Wu and the bigger shovel arm for Scavenger.
Can't have too many Constructicons :D

That's with the 30% discount that AE is nice enough to offer for preorders. Retail price is $203 (about $50 more than Hasbro's), plus the shipping you mentioned. But it does look like AE is the best deal out there right now assuming shipping isn't a nightmare.

I was super on board for the Takara one, but then I figured he's going to be Devastator all the time. In combined mode my only real gripe is his lackluster hands. So I'm buying the Hasbro version and adding the nicest third party hands I can find. And maybe painting all of the truck rims...

Also, we should make this a poll between the three versions so we look at some sweet data.

This is a no-brainer Hasbro, for no other reasons than this,BBTS has Devs at $10 below retail price (must be like one of those early bird specials),another reason is cause I am impatient and don't wanna wait 5 or 6 month for Takara to release theirs.

Other stuff too but those above are the main reasons. And to tell the truth I haven't decided what modes I will keep them in,but will post about when I get mine.I just wish BBTS would hurry up and get Devs instock already, its been front paged for 4 days now that he's been out at retail,I hope they get them Monday.Later all.

Was there not already a thread on this?

Then again, that one didn't know how much TakTom Devs cost. Honestly, it may be worth it, since with the Canadian dollar in such rough shape, and his MSRP (or at least what TRU.ca is charging) being $190, the $220 Cnd price before shipping I've seen the Takara version at isn't really that much more expensive. Hell, if I wanted to go AE (which I'm not sure, too many horror stories) the price difference would be even more negligible.

Both, preordered Takara version to keep in the box and Hasbro for the individual member display and to upgrade (elbows and guns). I'm already using Maketoys Giant for Devastator since he goes pretty good with the CWs.
