About a week ago, I noticed in my Target that they had increased Movie 4 Deluxes from $15 to$17 or $18. Well, since AoE Snarl wasn't selling at $15 then they should at $18.
I guess it worked- don't see any more.

So today I was in TRU and they finally got CW Wave 2's in. And, they had gone from $15 to....

    **drumroll please**

    $20!

    Five bucks!

I was gonna re-paint Dead End into the General Lee... but these, to me, aren't worth $20 per Deluxe. Not when Voyagers are $25. So... expect Voy's to jump as well.

Now, bear in mind this is Toys R Us- not the cheapest place in town.
And, it's not like there's never gonna be sales, BOGO's, Rollbacks, coupons, etc. ever again.

Now, I realize that compared to other places globally everything in the USA is dirt cheap; and that every American keeps warm in the middle of summer by burning bundles of cash; and that we should be mindful of the child who walks the Serengeti for 3 days just to spend the life savings of hid parents and grandparents (folk 'round here can lay it on pretty thick at times) but $5 is quite the jump.

So, $20 might not be that big of deal to many; it's not as if I personally can't afford $20. I can. However over the years I myself have been getting more and more picky. Ima gettin' even pickier yet.

In any case, the prices are a-changing again.

And then we'll suck it up.
    Then we'll spend.
Next year at this time someone will come along and complain about $30.

Deluxes here in Canada cost $19.92 plus tax and they barely even stock the transformers section in walmart anymore which isn't helping sales at all

They've been $20 at the Toys R Us' in Oly and Beaverton for the last few months. They're also that proxe on the website, EXCEPT for Break Neck and that other one, which are $17.

At Target, the CW prices are up to something like $15.49.

I still don't find it as stupid as the One-Step figures going up to $11.99. Holy crap why.

Deluxes apparently went up to 25 Euros in Germany.

A few years ago, you could get a Voyager for that!

I can't imagine seeing them for that much- let alone paying it.

I saw them at TrU for $19.99. The solution was that I didn't buy them. Pretty easy, really. I went and bought the same figure I wanted at Target for $15.
    TrU won't last another 10-years.

Same old stuff right. You pay more they give you less. Gotta make that bottom line! Common man wages stagnate while the cost of living continues to grow

Sometimes, price hikes can cause product to sell better than at a lower price. It's a marketing tactic used frequently in Direct Response and internet marketing.

Jacking the price affects the perceived value of the product. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, though I've seen some clients' product sales jump by 25% after a $20 price jump with no change to the media.

The price hike sucks. I remember the Cybertron deluxes selling for $9.99.

ToysRus does advertise a price-match guarantee, and they do stand by it. I got a leader class G1 Megatron for $44.99 instead of $59.99. All you got to do is show them a lower price online or something.

I think you post this same thread everytime you see an increase in your local stores that no way reflects the over all constant price of the items in question.

I think the last time the sky fell it was when you realized TRU marks up their prices more than other stores.

Then everyone from other countries comes to laugh at silly Americans because they don't understand USD aren't the same as their currency and that your "price hikes" aren't any kind of permanent consistent change in the American toy market.

Oh, I forgot the part when other Americans come make fun of each other about prices that in no way are consistent but they love to argue about inflation and economics.

I think you need to use the search function.

Yeah I saw this in TRU last week. I just kept on walking. I think they've finally hit the limit for me.
