All of you display your Transformers in robot form. That's wrong.

The whole point is that they're supposed to be hidden in plain sight as other things. When someone sees your collection they think you have a car collection or a radio or whatever, then you transform one of them and they're all like HOLY SHIT ITS ACTUALLY A ROBOT! HOLY SHIT ITS ANOTHER ROBOT! HOLY SHIT THEYRE SHOOTING EACH OTHER PEWPEWPEW!

    Discuss.

My collection is a tough secret to keep, and display means just that. Toy cars are cheaper than TFs because they aren't robots too.

    I agree, but not always.
    Early G1 figures, sure.
Alternators with their 1/24 scale, most definitely.
Most other toy lines, vehicles and animals could mostly pass for their alt modes.
But no one is looking at G1 Galvatron thinking "I never realized that purple futuristic cannon could also be a robot". Or even more recently Generations Metroplex. Not sure how many people have the space to display him in anything BUT robot mode.

^ that is wonderful. I've thought of doing something similar mixing vintage and classics/masterpiece.

Very nice display turboedguy! However, I would like to ask how you keep the dust out? Dust is the no.1 problem for my displays

I keep Alternators and the like in vehicle mode when I can, but most Transformers have to stay in robot mode since it takes up less space.

Yup, dust sucks. I plan on building custom cabinets with glass doors soon. For now, every 3-4 months they get taken down, dusted, then rearranged. Different arrangements keep my display looking fresh and new through my eyes even though they are mostly the same figures. It's really the only time I even touch them.

I'm the only one that gives a crap about my collection, so I like to see my figures posed like they're all ready for battle.

I tend to display my collection with some toys in vehicle mode. I have a lot in their robot forms, but I also have vehicles around for some variety. I feel it showcases their ability to transform. I really only display the toys in vehicle mode if I really like how it looks, and even then I rarely prefer the vehicle mode look over the robot mode look.

    This is my situation too.

But movie figures, especially human alliance ones and the good leader figures, I tend to pose in vehicle mode.

I actually have duplicates of all the autobot MP's I buy so I can have an "autobots rolling out" display. May have to stop that at some point, but for now, it is a go!

I have all of mine in vehicle mode because I have this OCD thing where I can't have all of them staring back at me. I'm sure anyone who grew up on Toy Story can empathize with having the subconscious thought of your toys silently judging you. Also, because I had a single, very small shelf to keep them on I had to stack all my car-formers on top of each other making my display look like a junkyard. Before that I kept them all in a big cardboard box before realizing that probably wasn't such a good idea. I've since added a second shelf and now only my legends toys are riding on their deluxe buddies.

I agree 100%. That's why I typically buy 1 of each decepticon, and 2 of each autobot car type + prime. The Autobot Rollout (Prime with the Ark cars following) is just too classic and iconic and to me is a must display. But the Masterpiece robot modes are too accurate NOT to display.

    Sooooo......2 of each it is.

I have em mixed. All my MPs are in bot mode (so far, Diaclonestreak and Tracks (flying mode) may see alt mode a lot), but I have some Primes in alt mode and some others in alt mode, it just mixes it up some for some variety.

I can barely afford the ones I want, let alone two copies of each.

I generally keep mine in robot mode, but I leave enough space on each Detolf shelf to be able to just pick one out at random, transform it, and put it back on the shelf in vehicle mode. Later on, I'll come back around and put it back in robot mode. That, along with rearranging them now and then, keeps the display fresh.
