In anticipation of SDCC 2015 this (early) thread has been started to get the topic going and discussions started regarding what to expect from HTS this year. This thread is to inform those that are new to the process and also serve as a refresher for those of you like myself ( a 4 year veteran lol of the HTS SDCC exclusives waiting game lol); I have been lucky at obtaining many if not all of the items I have wanted get from HTS thanks to threads like this one and I'm sure many of you have benefited as well. The expectation here is for people to get ready, get educated, share ideas and have a little bit of fun in the process. The discussion can be moved to "The HasbroToyShop New/Restocked/Shipped/Preorder Items Thread" a few days prior to or after the convention so that we don't flood that thread just yet. At the end of the day we are all grown ups for the same objective so in order for us to achive our objectives is to have a good plan and good communication (and patience...lot's of coffee and patience ) so let's have some fun...with that being said, last year, HTS threw us all a curve ball by posting the exclusives by posting the exclusives 8 days after the end of the convention, many of us wasted a full week in front of a computer (or tablet/phone) F5*ing. Although the exact dates that HTS will post their exclusives up on their site cannot be predicted based on previous years, the exclusives have typically been posted 2 to 3 days after the convention has concluded, how long will we have to wait this year...

Ugh. The one year I wasn't at sea, and able to F5 my heart out I fell asleep for an hour. In that time Metroplex posted and sold out. Hopefully, this year I can grab the combiner hunters 3 pack. Gonna save the devs purchase for the Tak version. Even though that exclusive box is dope. Let the refreshing soon begin. And brace yourselves for a frozen hts screen is coming.

I dunno. I just don't see the Combiner Hunters pack and the "2-toned purple" Devy going as hot as Metroplex or the AoE G1 Dinobots. Devy maybe because some will "want it first!!!".

It's kind of like what I thought about the Botcon exclusives...the hype and pre-con talk didn't equate actual sales.

While Metroplex was pretty popular, the Dinobot set wasn't so hot at all; they actually had it up for sale for quite a while after the initial posting. By "quite a while", I mean a period of time that can be measured in weeks, instead of minutes.

I think it's safe to say that Devastator will be a bit more popular than that.

Yeah. I actually had time to think about purchasing the AoE Dinobots. Ended up being a pass. The box/playset was sweet, but took up too much real estate. I'm not even gonna get into the Dinos. But yeah hopefully this year will be like last year with more than just a few minutes like in 2013.

I think it's safe to assume the Kreon set won't be any more popular than last years one was. Kreon set is all I'm after, which is nice after last years Dinobot, Rockband and Kreon set.

I was going to try for Devasgtator, but I've decided to skip it now. The chrome and box just aren't worth the stress on my F5 key.
If I'm on when the figures are listed, and if the 3-pack is available, I may try to snag one of those.

I'm most interested in the Marvel stuff but will get Devy if I am able. I decided to take the second week after the con off (I believe they came up the second Monday after the con last year so hopefully they follow suit this year). While fun hanging out in boards, I just don't want to waste an entire week in front of a computer, it's just gotten to stressful for me over the last years, lol. If I miss out this year I miss out.

I hear you on that, 7 days wasted refreshing a screen ain't fun, but don't plan your vacations around HTS IMO, they have not been consistent when they post their exclusives...I just want to get the MLP for my daughter, the 12" ant-man, I don't even care about the other figs in that set, Devy, not so sure I feel the chrome so if I miss out on him its not a deal breaker...honestly, I've been doing the whole "after SDCC HTS F5 campout" that it's become a tradition LMAO so it's more about the thrill of the hunt at this point...unfortunately for me (don't tell the wife I said this lol), our family vacation this year is the second week following the con, so hopefully they will go up on that tues or wed...next year I'm planning the vacation the same week as the con..

Precisely why I skipped that set altogether and went with the Unleashed crew. Oh, the irony of being able to get part of that ark at the EE booth anyway ->

I'm hoping to find the Femme Combiner Hunters Pack listed on HTS. That's the one I most want.

Maybe. It seems to be the trending opinion, though, that the retail and TOMY versions are superior. That's a pretty big mountain to climb if you have to spend your day clicking F5.

Not to mention Hercules, Green Giant, the recently re-released Yellow Giant, etc. All of those offer much better articulation and level of detail, as well as having better scaling with the Combiner Wars gestalts. And Hasbro didn't even faithfully reproduce Mixmaster in their new Devy, not to mention the other variances, so it's not like G1 authenticity is an excuse. Nostalgia and hype are the reasons the new Devy will sell like hotcakes. The two groups I expect will buy it most will be the more casual buyers that don't know about the superior 3rd party versions of Devastator, and the collectors who will buy it (and probably multiple versions of it) simply for their collection and/or for future resale. Not to say others won't buy it too, just that I suspect those two groups will make up the majority of the sales.

Finally a year where the only exclusive I want is the one that likely won't sell out in the blink of an eye. Only aiming to get the Kreo set and maaaaybe the Magic the Gathering set for the heck of it.

I remember (suprisingly) some of the sdcc exclusives did not sell out as fast as many people thought...for the people that were there when the exclusives went live at 10am, most got what they wanted, the kreo set was one of the first to go if I recall correctly...im thirsting for the SW ep. 7 clone trooper...that thing is UBER sexy!
