Well looks like Onslaught will be the first I'll be buying doubles of. Though what will be different about his robot mode to tell the variants apart I wonder?

 

either they're going to make all of the green parts grey, or you'll be able to tell by the lip sticking up behind his head.. it shouldn't be too difficult.

 

And a black Bruticus helmet in both versions... for some reason.

 

I'm wondering which version will be easier to fix. I imagine it'll be painting the olive on the silver Onslaught, but I could be wrong.

 

TM2 Prowl had a runnig change from white to black.

Toys are low priority for most stores right now with summer ending and back to school kicking off, but after the back to school boom of paper, cloths and backpacks had ended Wal-Mart and Target will start gearing up and resetting for Christmas. In about two or three months we'll be complaining that Transformers are coming out too fast.

 

I want both versions now . Being my holy grail of figures I want a spare and the brown looks cool  

 

It matters which way TT goes on this for me as I'm pretty sure they'll fix the blast off issue and Bruticus is my most wanted in this line.

 

I remember they did a running change with Generations Arcee, with her hands. Plus DOTM Crankshaft had his middle finger removed mid-run

 

TM2 Dinobot had a running change color variant at the same time.

Yep, I was going to bring up Arcee.

Mine has the terribad thumbs that fall off.

 

And Universe Ironhide was supposed to have a running change to fix the Smurf-face, but it never happened.

 

This will likely be the first time I get the TT version of a CW figure (because of the potential of Blast Off) . So he'll likely have the gray Bruticus chest. I'll probably get a Hasbro Onslaught-favored version too..

 

Apologies for coming into this late. I would say the reason they're doing the running change is so you can either get a toy that looks like the G1 Bruticus toy (silver chest shield) or a toy of the way Bruticus looked in the Sunbow cartoon (brown-and-purple chest shield). Or both, I guess, if you're crazy like that.

It's got nothing to do with Onslaught's colors being wrong for Bruticus... although this is actually a problem, since Onslaught is blue in the cartoon, but Bruticus has a grey body when the Combaticons combine together. Hasbro's variant doesn't address this, however.

I think at this point it's unlikely that they're doing the running change.

 

Man, I do hope they decide to go with silver. If only because I'm going UW Brut, and want to pick up CW Onslaught to get my G1 toy fix.

is it strange that with the revision combaticon wave (with two sky reign bots)that is coming out, i hope the brown chest onslaught and blue shockwave versions are coming with them?

 

I realize that, but from the info in this thread I gather there's a chance it may not stay silver and go to that green colour. Plus, I'm not interested in paying the amazon prices for him at this point when he hasn't had a nationwide release here in Canada.

 

the green one was scheduled to be first, and wasn't really accurate to anything right?
I think the writing was on the wall when the grey chest was released at retail first, and the "running change" happened before it was ever produced.
