    Nerdgasm away.

Holy, mother of screen accuracy, Batman! Now that I think about it I'm surprised that they didn't go for real life accuracy but I'm really glad they didn't, he looks so good. This is how I feel

The picture we saw is just a statue though - it isn't the actual final figure. Although I do share the excitement for this figure and hope he does retain the accuracy of the statue shown

I wondered why it was so seamless. Regardless this will be not only my first MP figure but my first TF figure in about 3-4 years.

To say I am excited, would be a gorilla-size understatement.

I'm now wondering what his Masterpiece ID Number will be and when we'll see prototype photos of the actual figure.

This will be my first Masterpiece. If it scales with Generations Rhinox and Rattrap, I would die happy.

Based on this model (and how relatively simple the beast to bot transformation looks), it shouldn't be too much of an engineering puzzle to get screen accurate beast and bot modes

Absolutely. Pull the head down. Twist at the hips. It's the basic transformation of Generations Rhinox, really. But having never owned or played with a Masterpiece figure, I'm not the best person to speculate :p

I grew up with G1, but I don't think of myself as a Geewunner. As such, I would go ape shit - heh heh - if TT made Transmetal versions of Primal on his spaceboard and Megs on his rollerblades. If this first Primal does well, we may even get to see that happen.

I've been able to keep my collecting focus - uhh - focused, but Beast Wars may have trashed that.

    Have fun, gang!

The biggest challenges will be in making the legs articulated in both modes, folding the extra kibble from the back and belly into the more lean robot mode, and fitting the robot head under the gorilla head.

But it's an MP, so I'm sure they'll pull it off.

Absolutely. There's no underside like on a vehicle to 'hide' anything. And while all you want from a car toy is the doors to open and the wheels to turn, when your toy is suddenly a gorilla, you want to be able to pose it.

Quite a bit of cheating going on in that GIF. How to make the gorilla have the beer gut that goes away on the toy.

I plan on buying one. Don't know if I'd put it with my MP Autobots or as a standalone, but I hope it sells well enough for Takara to eventually take on other characters down the line. If they make an MP Dinobot with an actual spinning sword I can die happy.

I plan on buying him. I haven't hyped over a mp figure this much since mp soundwave.

BW fans better buy BOTH Takara & Hasbro's (if they releases it). Let them know you want more.

Takara have said 2016 is the year of Masterpiece Beast Wars, so they're obviously confident that they'll get enough sales to warrant it.

I'm currently pretty hesitant until the price is revealed, but if I do get him, he would be my first Masterpiece as well.

Besides the fact that Generations Rattrap is a bit too big for show accuracy (it's a cool toy, but Legends-scale would've been more suitable), MP Optimus Primal would probably need to be between Deluxe and Voyager size - about as tall as Rhinox, but not as bulky. (Although, if MP Bumblebee is about that size, maybe they could do that with Primal.)
