I think we'll end up with something like a voyager, which I can live with. Like you said, Rhinox is a good barometer for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a little taller. But, I'll honestly be ok as long as it's somewhere in that range. It's not like Bumblebee or something where we'll get 10 different interpretations so we can pick which one fits our head-scale. That's why I don't mind Rattrap too much. Yeah, he was just a little too big, but hey - new Rattrap. I'm just happy we're getting this at all. If it's anywhere near scale, I'll be content.

I'm NOT an MP collector. Primarily because I'm not a huge fan of G1. Only exception being Soundwave. NEEDED him.

But the need I felt for Soundwave is NOTHING compared to how badly I need to buy this MP Optimus Fricking Primal.

Gonna be keeping an eye on HLJ constantly until they put up a pre-order.

Glad you guys like this one. It'll be one if the first MPs I pass on, but the more who buys this will be the more MPs funded by sales.

 

I could be wrong, but with Optimus Primal's position in the MP poll and CHUG Rhinox and Rattrap apparently shelfwarming, I can't imagine this guy being a runaway hit like Star Saber. Seems like BW MPs would be better off as some kind of MP sub line like the Bayformer MPs, or at least the MP line would be better off. I understand BW has a very passionate and devoted fanbase, but BWs was not the phenom that G1 was. Not as iconic. MP G1 "real cars" appeal to buyers who aren't even massive G1 fans or even TF fans at all... Optimus Primal's alt may be cartoon accurate, but it's goofy as hell and I can't imagine who it'd appeal to outside of BW fans.

Anyways, a sincere congrats, BW fans... !

Yes I am absolutely over the moon about this news. I hope its the beginning of either a BW subline or a general broadening of the scope of the MP line to incoporate characters from across the brands rich heritage. It's high time fans of other TF lines got some of the MP goodness G1 has been hogging all these years.

So how is this guy supposed to scale? He was very small next to Optimus in the show

 

Probably going scale with the Generation Beast Wars cast.

 

But there's no real need for the Transmetals to have MP versions. They were pretty damn well show-accurate, articulation that arguably rivals today's figures, and great attention to paint and detail.

Now, that being said, the Transmetal vacuum metal paint is probably the only issue I have with those figures.

 

Why do peoples' minds always jump way down the track after announcements like this? They unleash their want-lists and demand entire lines of figures.

Let's just sit contently in the glow of this announcement as we wait for more info in the months to come.

 

I wouldn't be opposed to a TM Megatron as a Masterpiece figure. But I doubt they would do them though.
