I've had this guy since the early 90's and no amount of googling has given me any leads. I'm fairly certain there were other types of lizards with different transformations and colours as well but I can't find anything about them

That's what I was thinking, or a Happy meal toy, but those have copyright info on them.

No problem, forgot to mention the domestic release was handled by TEK Toys, in 1992, and has been knocked off, by all manner of KO makers over the years :)

Oh my goodness, I have a green chameleon from this line. I've always wondered what it was from.

I'm sure that's what this most likely was. Pretty sure it's the same store where I got my definitely a knockoff Blitzwing back in the day

Oh yes, I remember that red fellow. I got him in a boxed set along with a crocodile, chameleon, etc. I liked that croc the most.

I got that set along with another one that had mammals, particularly wild cats.

It looks like what most of us got are the international versions, which in my opinion, looks cooler than their original counterparts.

I'd love to buy these guys again.

    No problem :)

There are so few English resources for identifying the half remembered not-transformers of our youth, so I was quite happy when I stumbled upon your blog, of which, your informative entries on the subject are very much appreciated!

That's great to hear which ones you got!

Yes the only animals they had in this line were the 5 cats, either in card back collectibles or gift box sets.

I know the international versions are really fantastic, but its hard for me to choose since I collect both and love both!

Anyway thank you for linking my blog, it means a lot it is shared around so people can appreciate them!

    Great website, thanks for sharing.

Seeing we might have a expert on not-transformers aboard, I want to ask a question.

In the late eighties while on holiday in France, my parents bought me a transforming toy. Its was a scorpion with the colours red and black (if memory serves me well I think it even included some die cast).

I haven't been able to track this not transformers down, anyone have some ideas?

    My pleasure!

Oh I'm no expert! I'm basically I lover of these toys and hopefully they are as accurate as I've learned from the toys.

Hmmm It doesn't sound familiar, I only know that the "Select - Convertors" had a Scorpion transformer named "Scorpio" which is pink/fuchsia and silver chromed and about probably around 8inch sized released in the late 80s.

But I'm sure someone out there knows, all the best getting the right info on that toy!
