I feel like the non-combiner Autobots are mostly for fun, and not to be taken seriously.

It took me two seconds to figure out how to retool alpha bravo into blast off. I honestly don't believe hotspot is a viable option for onslaught the ladders are an intricate part of his assembly. I called the no replacements for bruticus I hope I am right about this too. Voyagers have seen more than their fare shares of remolds

Seeig how there has been a legends mold with each combiner team, I wonder which legends would go with Bruticus?

Possbile Shockwave legends perhaps? Could it be a remold or brand new?

For Onslaught they could just make a turret assembly that does something similar, I don't think you'll see the "around the world" head for any other uses of the mold.

i actually think they are viable options. they could just remold the chest plate, it's already in the same basic shape.. the truck itself is already the same basic shape.. they'd just need to change the ladder assembly and throw on a new part that transforms slightly different, and viola there's a decent looking onslaught.

i'm not saying it's going to happen, i'm just saying that it wouldn't be too difficult to do it.

also, we can really throw out a bit of accuracy. the combiners so far haven't been super accurate, so, we shouldn't expect bruticus to be. from having different members, to motormaster just being a cab, air raid being an F-14 instead of an F-15, dragstrip having 4 wheels instead of 6, and so on. their goal is to produce something that resembles the classic characters rather than strictly adhering to what they looked like in G1.. this isn't the masterpiece line. so, if alt modes are different and robot modes are slightly different as well, that's just par for the course.

Precisely. Generations is meant to be updates, not strict retreads. I am in favor of it all so far.

You're missing the point that these retools are often extensive.

Offroad and First Aid are vastly different to one another, the same for Streetwise and DeadEnd or Silverbolt/Cyclonus.

Hotspot into Onslaught isn't a big stretch to see. There are plenty of parts that could be changed as the R&D has gone into the transformation rather than the parts themselves.

The way Defensor's body looks is very similar to Bruticus too.

Don't be surprised to see a similar transformation but a very different look.

I believe many people are accepting of repaints/retools etc because CW has been very good so far and we want it to continue in any way possible.

The question is - after Bruticus, what do they do next? Beast Combiners are a much bigger ask than vehicle combiners.

We have Computron potentially. What else?

We will get Computron, but I am betting we get a lot of suprise gestalts. Stuff like the Wreckers Combiner from FoC Bruticus. Another example: I think we know at this point a Masquerade inspired Autobot combiner is coming. I also fully expect a Seeker combiner.

    This.

just keep the choppa as choppa, shuttle as shuttle, jeep as jeep, keep their modes the same..no messing around..and i will buy..not to mention with the midget feet, we will need to wait for 3rd party upgrades for it not to look ridiculous

Hasbro rarely goes 3 years on a theme. After the second year of CW, they could be on to the next big thing. Whatever it is. They're probably working on it now.

You know what makes me sad? That there are still people who haven't grasped the fact that CW Bruticus was going to be a whole load of remolds from preexisting CW molds. Most of us realized this I think by the start of Toyfair (or even earlier) when the first pics of Rook and Hot Spot were released. And here you are...

You know, I've kind of done a 180 on this. Initially I felt that Bruticus would consist mainly of retools, but now I suspect otherwise. Here's why:

We're already getting Omega Prime or whatever he's called. The white Optimus repaint along with Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Prowl, and Mirage all retooled from the Stunticons. Next, we're getting Victorion, the fan-made Combiner who will likely be all retools as well. Now, with two whole combiners comprised entirely of retools I'm sincerely hoping Hasbro won't give us a third combiner of retools. They're getting a lot of mileage out of these molds, and I think they can invest that back into new tooling and give us a Bruticus that is mostly new molds.

I guess we'll find out in a couple of months, but I'm staying optimistic.

I don't care. You're still going through the same motions to transform, and that reeks of cheap cost cutting.

So let me ask a different questions - given the choice between Bruticus and no Bruticus what would you choose?

There's a world of difference between cheap cost cutting and what Hasbro are doing with CW. They're making best use of all of the R&D that has gone into CW.

I have no doubt that this has freed up the resources to create Leader class Megatron and Magnus and Jetfire.

This logic rings true to me. Makes me think when they do the beast based gestalts, they're going to do EVERY beast gestalt, to get the most out of each mold.

That's kind of the point. I, and no doubt many other people, have never seen a space shuttle in real life, and thus have no intuitive idea of how big one should. Everyone knows that a motorcycle the same size as a car is weird, though.

And besides, I'm not saying that Groove was the only combiner scale issue ever, just that he was the only one Hasbro decided to pick up on.

Regarding retools, I dunno why people are acting like this is anything new. The Generations line has been ~50% redeces/retools for the past two years. This year has been better than ever, since a good few of the retools are now essentially reshells.

    Here's the stats:

    2012
    Deluxe: 8/8 new moulds

    2013
Legends: 6/8 new moulds (plus 1.5 heavy retools)
Deluxe: 6/16 new moulds (plus 2 heavy retools)
Voyager: 4/7 new moulds (plus 1 heavy retool)

    2014
    Legends: 4/8 new moulds
Deluxe: 9/16 new moulds (plus 2 heavy retools)
    Voyager: 5/6 new moulds
    Leader: 1/1 new moulds

    2015
    Legends: 4/11 new moulds
Deluxe: 8/16 new moulds (plus 3 heavy retools)
Voyager: 3/6 new moulds (plus 2 heavy retools)
Leader: 2/5 new moulds (plus 1 heavy retool)

I'm defining 'heavy retool' as a retool that's anything more than just a new head and/or weapon. And the 1.5 retools for 2013 is cause I'm counting each data disc as half a Legend.

I am buying an extra silver bolt and making an onslaught the torso looks pretty spot on to bruticus .I know it's not g1 accurate but I think the combined mode will be worth it
