The shameful part about that line was that they started out with fairly week offerings and then we got some really strong figures like heavy tread and undertow at the end, when most people had given up on the line. Thanks to that black Friday sale (5 pack + 2 pack) at Walmart I picked up most of the line for a song.

As for the rally car torso, he needed one more pass through the design process to add a few extra locking tabs and he would have been a decent torso. Not great but decent.

Overall my biggest grip with the line was the spring loaded gimmick with the limbs. I would have liked to have seen that used sparingly and mixed in with limbs that transformed manually. The minicons were really nice.

TBH, I got the PCCs only because of the Minicons. :)

Yep. Still annoyed that I didn't see PCC Commander Heavythread in stores since I bought a Bombshock and a Crankcase set just so he can have an assortment of military drone limbs

I bought more of them than I should have.

They sucked then, they suck now. There will be no wave of nostalgia to revive interest in these.

I didn't like how they combined, they weren't sturdy.

I liked most of the base individual figure.

So this thread made me get the few I had out and the grey Aerialbots other arm broke. Yay.
At least I've got a Freeway (sort of) and Bombshock can be used as his G1 counterpart. The white and blue helicopter is alright too.

Some of these were really neat and I had almost the whole line at one point. Just nowhere really for these dudes in my collection and the limbs were all junk. The core/scout bots were very cool though, and the minicons were fantastic. I think I only ended up keeping heavytread. The boat dude with the old school scuba helmet was awesome too, I liked him a lot.

Some were great, some weren't. The Mini-Cons were an added bonus. Some of the color schemes were fantastic.

Undertow as a stand alone figure was awesome.

Some of the limbs were also fantastic.

Like Combiner Wars, the infinite combinations for kids was wonderful.

I warmed up to PCC over time. Alot was bought on clearance. But I really see PCC less as the lead up to Combiner Wars than Energon's Combiner teams. Those had a true Scramble City style to them that was hampered primarily by the fact that each combiner only got three mold uses between the torso and the limbs. But the Superion, Devastator and Bruticus repaints were all proudly displayed on my Classics shelves all the same. Now they are slowly being replaced...

Smolder is one of my favourite TFs of the modern era.

Huffer, Leadfoot, Undertow and Salvage are all great.

There were some great scout-size toys in PCC. Can't understand how anybody would refute this.

The ones that came with the drones were pretty horrible. The ones sold with the target masters were pretty sweet!! They worked much better with the drones

I loved PCC. Well, not so much the combining gimmick, having the only hardpoint to secure the drones in also be directly connected to the spring-loaded auto-transforming feature, without any way to further secure the connections, was a real mistake, because those springs simply push back against the blue connector which puts up minimal resistance. This also sacrificed critical knee and elbow articulation but unlike the bricky G1 combiners, the weight is NOT evenly distributed on any combination of non-doubled leg drones and makes the whole combiner hard to stand more often than not. Additionally, I think the only "torso-first" commander figure I have that's good at doing that exact job is Bombshock a.k.a. not-Onslaught. Of my other two; Mudslinger is okay but leaves much to be desired in torso mode (the legs really are not reliable, for starters) and Double Clutch...I'm pretty sure I have the post-extreme remold release that was supposed to fix all his problems, but when the only way to acomplish transfoming him into anything and not partsform the arms involves trying to phase matter through other matter due to absolute lack of clearance considerations of parts, he's utterly the poster child of why PCC's core gimmick is generally poorly executed. And to think I bought DC because I felt sorry for the guy having sat all alone at Target for six months...

Anyway, what's really tragic about PCC is that while its core gimmick was utter crap more often than not, the individual "Commander" scout figures were universally excellent. They were always inovative, fun to transform, and rarely not on the level of ROTF Scout articulation. Sure, the mini-cons were a mixed bag, but as far as accessories go they were better than nothing to justify the deluxe MSRP tags. Hell, Heavytread and Undertow - the last of the two-pack commanders - are by far the best figures of the line, improved even more by their great mini-cons (though for the latter, it's moreso Heavytread's ground plow/energy claw than Undertow's double rifle/guy-cosplaying-as-a-1950's-sea-monster).

Of my PCC's - I have all of the first two waves, three of the 5 packs, and Undertow and Heavytread - they fit flawlessly into my Neo-G1 classics display as they really mesh with the general Classics/Generations aesthetics nicely.

With Energon, the choice had been for two combiners with five individual robots (10 molds total) or three combiners that had three molds, two of which were doubled up on for a full team (9 molds). Probably one of the few times something went right in development of Energon's toys when combining was a key feature.

The included minicons were neat. A shame no third parties ever offered transforming robot limb sets like TF's Iron Army to go with the Huffer mold (to form a Menasor homage combiner) or the jet torso bot (to form a Superion homage).
