could be alot of reasons, for example could be some one needs cash for bills or other real world needs and so has to sell to raise the needed funds.
I've sold off some my MPs in the past (MP-5, 8, 9 & 10) due to various reasons. In life anything can happen & nothing is set in stone. Also I bought the recent Yoth MP-10 & reissue Hasbro MP Grimmy coz I missed these toys so much after selling them.
I think some people buy them because they're fan of Transforming Robots, it's the new release, etc. I suppose if your not a fan of G1 they mean a lot less. As for me. I'll probably die still owning them.
This for me...I haven't decided to sell the dupes yet, but I bought two of a lot of them to display one in each mode and I'm debating at this point if that's really necessary...especially since I'm not doing this with 3rd Party due to their inflated cost. So it's already inconsistent with the number of 3rd Party releases coming out.
same here. maybe people also bought multiples in hopes of selling for a profit.. you can get these figures much cheaper overseas, and boost your profit margin while still offering a competitive price. i can't imagine ever selling any of my masterpiece figures.
I have a lot of MP's but rarely touch them. They just sit there. But the generations, prime and rid figures I have constantly have me picking them up and fiddling with them. I'm starting to wonder why I even have the MP's. Sure they look nice on display but do they look THAT nice? Not really. For the same amount of money I could have a display of super dynamic and truly beautiful figures from a superhero universe, anime series or manga instead.
I'm selling a lot of mine. Just lost interest in them. Plus I want to focus on collection G1 mib/misb now.
i've thought about getting doubles of all of them to do what you're doing.. then i thought to myself, well, if i do that, that means i'll probably never transform them. so, while it would be awesome to have two of each, it just gets too expensive, and only having one allows me to transform them from time to time to change up my display. but, the fact that they're more pricy than normal main line figures is the main reason i don't own two of each.
I guess that all comes down to your point of view. I find most of the mainline and CHUG toys to be insufferably boring. A generic robot that transforms into a generic Tonka-like vehicle isn't all that exciting to me. Retro super-robots that transform into real objects and licensed vehicles on the other hand seem awesome. I know it's not for everyone, but for me this is what Transformers was all about. I've never been a big fan of non-licensed vehicle modes that are so generic that they look more like toys than actual cars.
i love transforming the masterpiece figures.. at this point, they're the only current figures with satisfying transformations. i like transforming them, changing up the display, and they look fantastic. right now it's not perfect.. but, in a few years as more and more get released, the collection will look unbelievable. i'm in it for the long haul. i see it as someone who collects hot toys figures or even sideshow star wars figures.. sure, you could invest in main line toys, and get several other figures instead.. but for me it's quality over quantity, and after a few years, the quantity grows and this display looks incredible. I'd rather have displays like these.. than ones with hundreds of 3.75"/6" inch figures. same goes with masterpiece.. only, there aren't enough masterpiece figures to fill out displays like this just yet.. it's close, but like i said, in a few more years masterpiece displays will start filling out more and more. plus, almost all of the transformations for the masterpiece figures are fun and interesting. the only frustrating ones for people have been megatron and hot rod, otherwise most of them are enjoyable to transform and pose. (those aren't my displays)
While I almost solely collect MP transformers anymore, it would be ridiculous of me to think that everyone else operated the same way. I think that all too often on the internet, we forget that people have different opinions. MP is tops for me, but Classics or Animated or something else could be tops for someone else, so I can see why they'd sell MPs off.
Personally I don't understand why people are buying them since Hasbro downsized the scale? Even though I own some of them, it's still a bit of a deal breaker for me.
I'm hitting the stage where I will most likely have to start selling something to get back space and fund for future collectibles. Definitely be keeping my MPs for now as they are the ones I really wanted and dreamed of since I was a kid. Of course, if there was one I bought and wasn't too happy about, I would probably end up selling it. Since I will have no pleasure in it, it'll just collect dust and take up precious space. So logical step would be to sell it for its worth and put it towards something else.
All I can say Timothy is Jesus Freakin Christ would I love to come to your house with all those Detolfs full of Sideshows and Star Wars, how in the world did you ever find all those, some of those figures I didn't even know existed.I am so damn jelly that you have a Museum you really should get the idea of opening that to people and charge them $5 or $10 a pop just to look at them, you would make a killing doing that. But again my lower jaw is hitting the floor right now in sheer shock at that collection, and I bow to you almighty king of that collection, you have my eternal respect.
i actually have never picked up a single one of them. the only one i actually ever thought about getting is mp 10. but then i see the price tag, and think "oh i could buy another g1 optimus instead." and i probably go that route again.
Cause I don't like MPs and they're mine to do with what I want? I swear, sometimes this fandom makes me want to buy the hottest sought after MP and videotape me giving it to a kid who draws on it with crayons and plays with it in the mud before putting it in a blender and setting it on fire.
