I own prime, that Defensor looks nothing like Prime, if anything hotspot will be a new mould with a look to remould into Onslaught.

I'm happy that so far the CW figures have been simpler, it means quick play and transformation takes 10 seconds or so, makes it feel more dynamic and more fun. Plus they still have the articulation, even when combined.

Quiet you, the translation of that one guy's description in Chinese is word of God and proof that everything is awful.

So you join the forum today just to be sarcastic and rude?

Like I said, I hope that his comment about the elbow was because the thing is a prototype...but most people who aren't idiots wouldn't say this if they could see the existence of an elbow joint.

TFW2005 saw fit to put this individual's account on the front page. I'd like to assume he wasn't an idiot.

    1. Don't panic Hotspot is very likely a different mold
    2. Devestator is going to be "simple" likely in the same context as the rest of CW (thank god)
    3. Don't worry retooling/remolding has come a long way (Prime Arcee to Chromia for example) I am sure they will make damm good use of the 8-10 CW deluxe molds they have, this is not a end all event.

You do realize that the person who actually saw this wasn't the person who posted it, right?

The person who saw it, who is from Hong Kong, wrote up his comments and submitted it to actoys.com. Another person then translated said comments, which are then posted here.

That's several degrees of seperation yet everyone treats it as 100% confirmed. Its not... it is a translation, from another site, of another person's opinion.

A very good reason to hope...and I sure hope that the translation was wrong.

Okay, am I the only one who reads "shark" and "combiner wars" in the same sentence and hopes that means Overbite?

Fingers crossed for a Rock-Lord combiner called Avalanche.

As for the whole "jumping the shark" thing, we still have a long way to go with this line and I don't see how any definitive statement over an entire toy line can be made based off one wave of toys and speculation from a translation based off of a prototype from a Chinese man. Wait a bit, see what they release, and make your calls once they move to a different line.

Why is "all ages" a negative thing? Shouldn't kids be able to enjoy toys that are made for them, that are being sold in toy aisles? Why do some adults have such a hard time with the concept of toys that kids can enjoy? Clearly the complex transformations weren't working for their prime demographic so they're changing it. Kids enjoying these toys is MUCH more important than any adult enjoying these.

i think, given Alpha Bravo's head sculpt, he's realistically more of a "prepaint" of Vortex ~ hopefully Vortex still gets some unique tooling ~ but i'd expect/hope for Blades to AT LEAST get new arms (sans missiles) and a new head.

I'm not to worried about Devastator yet, Smokescreen 38 ~ hang tough until Toyfair.

(also, i'm in the camp that thinks Hot Spot will def. be a new mold with an eye towards Onslaught.)

Dunno about you guys, but all this talk about the upcoming Devastator is getting redundant. If you don't like simple transformations, fine, I get it, but it's getting annoying.

    YouTube (Legacy):
Am I the only person that finds it highly ironic that the original poster's avatar is one of the most highly recognized repaints/retools in all of Transformers, yet asks if we should "gird ourselves for despair" with regards to possible repaints/retools in a Transformers line?

Also, isn't the phrase "Jumping the Shark" to be used in regards to storytelling? And even if you could apply "Jumping the Shark" to a toyline, how would reusing/retooling molds for a Transformers line be "Jumping the Shark" when it's pretty much been a staple of Transformers since G1?

Personally, I would not worry about CW Hotspot being a retool of CW Optimus Prime seeing as how he looks absolutely nothing like him based on that comic cover.

As for Devastator, I am going to patiently wait until we get actual photos if he's displayed at Toy Fair next month. No point in getting all worked up over a (possibly poorly) translated account from a third party.

Where did you hear that Optimus Prime will be retooled into Ultra Magnus? It was already rumoured to be a new Leader class mold for the guy. As for Hot Spot, I'm betting it's a new mold too.

And if that's First Aid on Defensor's leg, who the hell is on his right arm?

Well, I for one am not excited about repaints/slight retools at all.

If you're going to question the use of a vernacular term like "jumping the shark" (which I belive applies to this conversation), I'm going to call into your question your use and intent for the word "irony." :)

If I had made a statement that all repaints suck, you could call me hypocritical...but that's not what I said and had you read the thread, you might have noticed my comment stating the exact opposite opinion.

What i'm cocerned about is that Devastator is going to be made up of big one-step changer grade bots and that the rest of the releases for the year will be bereft of surprises and new experiences.

This line that left the gates sprinting will quickly run out of breath and many of us will just walk. Yep, i will happily pay $17 each for three very similar Aerial Bots but the same toys repurposed as Techobots, etc will not get my money again. Life is too short.

Anyway, this is a discussion forum...I brought it up with you guys to discuss the topic, if this pisses anyone off, feel free to drop out of the thread.

I don't think anyone is getting pissed off, I think a lot of people replying are just disagreeing with you and think you're jumping the gun in your assessment and you seem to be getting defensive because you started the thread thinking you'd have more support. So far we have ONE second hand translation of one Chinese fan's account of an unfinished prototype, and tangential art evidence of a repaint limb, a repaint torso, and a repainted legends figure. We haven't even seen anything physical or in full and we know repaints are a fact of the industry as it exists. There's really nothing to say the line is "jumping the shark" whatever nebulous definition that may have for a toyline.
