I ordered the Robots in Disguise Warrior class Grimlock when he first hit Amazon. After transforming him once his right arm/leg broke at the ratchet joint. I actually saw the stress marks in the packaging. I returned him and got a replacement. However this one is having the same issue on the same arm/leg. His left arm/leg is fine and the ratchet joint moves much easier. His right one has the same stress marks again but hasn't broken (yet). I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem. It could be a manufacturing flaw in these early released waves. I'm attaching a pic as well. It seems that the gray piece inside the ratchet is pushing on the green part that connects the arm. Thoughts?

I mentioned this in the UK thread a while back... That ratchet joint is really scary. I have taken to pushing down on that plastic when moving the arm. They just didn't make the plastic strong enough.

Would slightly sanding the ratchet post help at all?

Mine has slight stress marks too. Why did the add ratcheting to his elbows anyway? Bumblebee and Strongarm don't have them (and I don't think it needs it to hold him up in dino mode).

I bought one today at TRU and I have the exact stress mark on the right arm. Nothing visibly wrong with his left.

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like a fairly widespread issue. I'm going to mess around with him to see if I can figure out a solution. It's just the right arm on mine too.

I don't see the stressing in that picture.

to me it looks the stress marks are on the forearm (green) side of the elbow right where the lighter grey bit's edges look to be

Someone please correct if I'm seeing the pic wrong

A question for the OP (or anyone with Warrior Grimmy) is there a way to minimize the risk of breakage in using the arms?

I don't have this figure but I do plan to get it & was wondering if it's meant to be pulled to bend like I heard Warrior Steeljaw's arms are like

Sorry for the poor quality in the first photo. I took some additional shots to compare. The first photo is of his left arm with no stress marks. The second is of his right arm again. You'll see two vertical white strips coming down from the joint. Last is a pic of his arm bent. The joint works fine getting into this position. The issue arises when you go to straighten out the arm for posing or transformation. The other arm has a tight joint but nothing like the right one. There is no straightening out of the arm joint like Steeljaw either.

Sorry but I can't figure out how to upload multiple pics in one post from my ipad. This is the second one with the stress marks.

Third showing the arm bent. Again it's fine going to this point but very very tight making it straight.

i got him today, and bent his right arm, it broke, and shot the grey piece out, left arm is alright though, i don't see how this could have happened and on such a massive scale too

Mine did that too. I had bought it from Toys R Us, but have returned it since. The ratchet pushes the grey piece against the green plastic and that green plastic on the arm is damn near paper thin. After a few up and down movements with the arm and it had major stress marks. Not a good sign of things to come.

My grimlock seems to be ok. I'll check for you when I get home tonight

This issue may not be just related to Grinlock. I bought an RID bumblee bee at target yesterday and ended up snapping his right arm at the elbow joint trying to get him out of the box. I've sinced glued it back in with no issues

So does the arm fall off? Or just stop ratcheting?

    Haven't opened mine yet.

They need to stop with these cheap ratchets in deluxe elbows. Deluxes don't even need ratchets in the elbows!

CW is loaded with them, and they all feel horrible.

Mine did this last night after transforming it for maybe the fourth time. The plastic bent down and the gray bit shot out pretty damn fast. It looks rounded somehow compared to the pics Rhinox23 posted though, as if there was a running change at some point but not one that fixed the problem.

I got mine a little while ago. His left arm was already stressed to the point of rocketing the gray piece straight out of the package. I might see if takara fixed the issue with their version but I'm still on the fence about it.

They really dropped the ball on this figure didn't they.
Hopefully the TakaraTomy version will be sturdier.

Yeah mine has the same problem. It's an incredibly horrible engineering choice.
