I'm fairly new to collecting and I'm trying to complete the list of 1984 figures for my Classics/Universe collection.
The figures I am looking to complete are Brawn, Gears, Huffer, and Windcharger. What are the best figures to fill these spots?..official, 3rd party, etc..
Any info would be great. Thanks!

This is all from someone who doesn't bother with 3rd party:

I'm still waiting on a suitable Brawn, but Universe Legends Brawn and Cloud Voyager Brawn both look good, depending upon your taste in aesthetics and scale. People use Beast Hunters Deluxe Bulkhead as well, if you're willing to repurpose.

The recent Generations Legends Gears fits the bill perfectly, great figure, and even better if you paint the frames around his face red.

Huffer is tricky, since he's had a lot of figures (BotCon Classics Scout, Beast Hunters Cyberverse Commander, upcoming Generations Legends), but only one was an original mold - the Power Core Combiners Commander, which is what I use (though I wouldn't mind replacing his head). Like Brawn, depends upon your aesthetic taste.

The Reveal the Shield Scout Windcharger is awesome, but sadly hard to get hold off. A new Generations Legends figure is due soon, though.

For Brawn I currently have a blank spot, but I'll be grabbing a 3rd Party iGEAR Hench for him as soon as I can find one for the right price. Theres a BAD CUBE 3rd Party Brawn ("Brawny") coming out soon, but he's more in scale with the masterpiece line, and the pricepoint is fairly high.

Huffer I'm using iGEAR Rager, slap a reprolabel autobot logo and a conservative lick of light blue paint and he's absoloutley perfect, and in-scale with the new generations figures. Generations Huffer will be out some time next year, but the downside is that he doesn't have his own mold, but is instead a repaint/retool of generations Legends Optimus).

I did used to use iGEAR Cogz for Gears, but he's recently been supplanted by the Generations figure. There's many options here. look into "Continuously Variable" and "Trashtalk & Cogwheel" for the other 3rd Party options.

Windcharger gives you the option of the new Generations figure due in dec/january, or the Reveal the Shield Scout Class Windcharger. I personally picked RTS, as I tend to go for official Hasbro as long as they look right. Gens windcharger is a repaint/retool of IDW Tailgate, so he has tiny spindly legs. Besides this, RTS windcharger is an awesome figure in general.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a new Generations Brawn, as since Cliff, Bee, Gears and Windcharger are on their way, I'm only one away from having the 6 '84 minibots be roughly in scale with eachother and shorter than the deluxe '84 cars.

I'm curious what my opinion of that new Windcharger will be once I get him in hand...

His legs and arms are weird, but he has the all gray torso, red arms, like G1, and facesculpt looks good too?

I prefer the newer larger legends figures for my minibots...

I have Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Swerve, Tailgate, Gears, and Cosmos.

We have Windcharger, Huffer, and Powerglide on the way.

    Warpath and Brawn are rumored.

That leaves Seaspray, Pipes, Hubcap, Beachcomber, Outback, and Wheelie. And Bumper, I suppose.

We've never been this close to having all of the G1 Minibots in the same size class since... G1. I hope Hasbro finishes the job.

Too bad they're not coming with Micromasters anymore...

i wish third party figures were able to license their stuff to hasbro as premium collector figures.. like star wars black type figures. that way they wouldn't have to confuse me with all of the different names they use.

That's an issue I was running into when searching for variations of these figures..the 3rd party figures have different names.

Really enjoying the updated minibots Hasbro has been doing in the Legends line. Right now there's no Brawn, but that may change somewhere down the road. There are quite a few 3Party Brawn's out, but quite frankly they are either too large(Hench) or more in scale with MP figures(Brawny think that's the name).

Huffer while a lot of people prefer the PCC I still like the repainted Cybertron Armorhide from Botcon 2007.

Gears is fine if you go Hasbro he just really really needs paint on the head.

Windcharger is a toss up. The new Legends figure has a more accurate chest but aesthetically everything else is still more IDW Tailgate. The old Reveal The Shield Windcharger still holds up well but he's not really accurate to how Windcharger looks. Basically boils down to personal preference on that one.

igear rager is a awesome version of huffer. I have him next to my g1 huffer and rager is only slightly taller but is way better looking.

for gears I suggest the new generations version. its a nice size and looks good too. maketoys cogwheel has a horrible vehicle mode and igear cogs is a large figure for a minibot.

rts windcharger is what I have for this character as well and he is a nice homage to him.

as for brawn I haven't really found a version that goes with the rest of these yet but there is always hope for the future. the old legends brawn is tiny and the new third party versions are too big for what I have.
