Transformers alone I have well over 1,000. If you add the rest of my collection(Star Wars, Marvel, GI Joe, etc.), I'm sure I have well over 5,000 figures. We have half our basement finished which is where I display everything. I have 25 bookcases down there which gives me the space I need to have everything out and not in storage.

Burn........LOL j/k but yeah im the same way if I run out of room I just sell the ones I am least attached to. I guess a lot of people have them in storage hoping one day they will have the room to display them.

I think the spreadsheet would be good, cases where I've got some classics toys in the unicron trilogy box because they were originally a cybertron toy and some cybertron toys with the classics because most of the Trilogy tots are voyagers and leaders and I don't want one container just for countdown, and then there's then are they WFC or Classics/IDW and it depends on what toy, things were easier in 2005. You poor people who've been collecting for more than a decade and not paying $30 a deluxe.
