Hey guys, I need an opinion on the best leaders class figure for the movie toyline. The reason why I made this thread is because I recently started collecting again and I wanted to make sure that all my tformers were in a perfect size scale if ya get what I mean. Right now I have TF1 deluxe Arcee and HFTD Takara Jazz. Now once I finish collecting a leaders class i'll be doing the same for the Decepticons. To make it easier i'll give you a list for each faction to which robot I highly consider getting. Thanks in advanced to anyone who helps.

    Leaders Autobots-Ironhide, Jetfire,

    Leaders Decepticons-Starscream, Brawl,

if you don't have the ROTF leader prime mold.. you're crazy lol, unless you have the DMK version.. but you should definitely get buster prime, or the leader prime that came in the takara prime/jetfire premium two pack.

if i had to choose between jetfire and ironhide, i'd definitely get ironhide. the transformation isn't very complex, but both robot and truck modes are really nice looking.

as for the decepticons.. starscream is an absolute no brainer.. in my opinion he's the second best leader mold behind prime.

i have both the regular release and takara's movie "masterpiece" version, and i have to say, the MP version is gorgeous.

.. so, to sum up.. you need leader class buster prime, ironhide, and either the MP starscream or the normal release starscream.

I'm not sure what you mean with your comments on scale. The Leader class figures are not necessarily in-scale with each other or other size classes. Basically size class does not equal scale.

Setting that aside, I agree with Timothy.R: the ROTF leader Optimus and Starscream are the best of the movie leaders, by far. I found Ironhide's transformation to be too simplistic for a leader. The Sentinel Prime from DOTM is pretty good, as well.

This is gonna sound so wierd to you but get ready. I hate the Leaders Optimus Prime toys. I dont know why but I just do. I think im leaning towards Ironhide a bit more though but I wish that the blue parts were grey. That's whats annoying me. As for the Cons, yea I know Starscream is good. Honestly I really want the Japanese version so bad but the cost is ridiculous as hell. That's why I was thinking of getting the new Leaders class Brawl since he looked so sweet but I don't know whether or not he's a good figure

When I say I want them in perfect scale I mean i want the size comparison for each robot to good. Example.

I'm going to put it out there that Leader Ironhide is a terrible toy, and pales against any of the other Movie Leaders, even the totally inaccurate Movie 1 Optimus and Megatron, and even DotM Bumblebee.

He's bogged down by gimmicks leaving him with tiny cannons, and messing up the range of motion in one of his legs. Unlike the previous Leaders, that either due their best to approximate accuracy or make up for it with impressive gimmickry, Ironhide has nothing impressive under the hood. His transformation is this bizarre mix of cheaty and simplified and frustrating, in the way that some of his back kibble has to slip past other parts in this completely non-intuitive way.

I got him for only $20, and he's the only Transformer I ever regret purchasing. And I'm a guy who generally likes everything, and generally finds merit in a lot of toys the general fandom considers stinkers.

Hard for me to say. They're either too complex (RotF Optimus Prime) or too much kibble (2007 Megatron.) Though, I think I'll have to say RotF Prime because of accuracy.

if you had buster prime you'd change your opinion.. it's a beautiful, the paint job is gorgeous, the transformation is complex and interesting, he looks great and fits in perfectly.

brawl is okay.. he's a bit clunky. the articulation isn't great either.. he does look cool, but starscream is much better.. either way, you should try to get all of them.

i disagree whole heartedly. he's a great figure.. he looks great, he's beefy, his truck looks nice, he's got nice ankle joints, his cannons aren't accurate but they're fun, and there's a nice add on kit available to give him accurate cannons.

he's got nothing under the hood?.. so.. his hidden dagger isn't a gimmick?.. and that huge spinning lit up cannon under his chest isn't a gimmick either?.. hmm.. i'd have to disagree.

leader ironhide is many things but frustrating to transform, in my opinion, is not one of them.. not by a LONG shot. he's easy to transform, a bit too easy.

out of all of the leader class movie figures ironhide is probably tied with starscream as the second most accurate. he's fun, his gimmicks are actually fun.. i mean, that spinning chest cannon, while it's completely inaccurate is fun to deploy, his arm cannons work just fine, and the dagger is unexpected but still rather cool.

he's just a fun toy. and best of all is that he fits.. he's nice and wide and fits great with human alliance figures especially when you have his legs positioned right.

Starscream, the voice clips aren't the most accurate but sound like they could be Starscream, looks good from the top and I think sides in jet mode, the rocket launcher's nice if the brown missiles not to much, the built in weaponry is cool and I don't have a Leader Prime for difficulty comparison, but I don't have trouble transforming him or find it to simple with the exception of trying to get the piece that goes over his head in jet mode to seperate from the front of the jet was a bit difficult for me. I must agree, the Takara one would be nice, coming from someone who has settled with the US version for every toy he's bought.

Yea, bak when Buster and Striker OPtimus were I did want them but I grew out of wanting a long time ago. I think im gonna go with Ironhide since he does look appealing the most. I just can't get over the blue though. Where do I find the cannons for him though?

As for the Decepticons im trying to decide between these two and it's pretty hard. Starscream looks glorius but Brawl just looks like a robot in disguise. DOes anyone know how he is as a leaders figure anyway?

I said nothing impressive. The pop-out arm cannons leave ugly flappy bits hanging loose and are super tiny, the gatling gun in his chest is stupid looking and has no basis in the character design, and the leg weapons are functional but not what I'd call "impressive" by any definition of the word, especially when one of them gimps the knee articulation on that one side.

Oh, he's stupidly simple in the grand scheme of things. But that stupid divider bar on his back gets in the way and makes the whole affair far more effort than its worth.

    Ha!

ROTF Optimus and HFTD Starscream are the winners for me.

In my opinion, the movie line had some pretty great Leader toys. Even DOTM Ironhide, who is a bit more simplistic actually is much better in hand.

Just wish somebody would come out with good replacement head and arms for ROTF Megatron.

What's wrong with RotF Megatron's head? Arms do need some work, though. They're fairly accurate to the concept art (well, the toy as a whole is), but not accurate to the final movie design.

Striker Optimus(Takara not Hasbro asia because the Takara has the gun metal movie accurate colors), Starscream, sentinel prime and Brawl. Ironhide is fun but I'm not a fan of how hindered his knee rotation is
Well the head barely moves. It'd be nice on a ball joint.

Would you say Sentinel Prime fits a good scale with HA Jazz and TF1 Deluxe Arcee?

Leader Ironhide looks good with the rest of the team, but to really improve him you need the 3rd party gun kit Fans Want It Leader Ironhide Cannons Color Images - Transformers News - TFW2005. I got leader Ironhide for $15 I think, plus the $30 kit - for me he looks pretty nice at that price. At an MSRP of $40 +/- I get people not digging this guy.

Somethings not right with that pic, Leader Prime is not that much taller than Ironhide, FYI. If you place Prime in front and pushed Ironhide to the back they work well together though, but you don't like Leader Prime so I don't know what to tell you.

Mine would be Leader Class Optimus Prime (ROTF onwards), Leader Class Brawl, Leader Class Starscream and Leader Class Sentinel Prime.

Here's my collection. I believe it scales rather well. Ratchet is a custom.

And Starscream is a KO, but as jets are far bigger than anything else, he's the biggest.

Also, I'd like to echo the sentiment of Buster Prime, though if you are intent on playing with him to get the Jetwing Optimus Prime instead. The colors for the backpack suck, but it's removable and it gives you a Buster Prime with the "abs" without all that chrome to get scratched up.
