I'm 43, but very selective with my collecting. I'm no longer a completionist, but buy what interests or looks cool to me. With regard to TF's, I only collect MP's and a few CW's here and there; I'm strictly a G1 guy, so I don't venture too far from that.

In addition to MP's, I collect some Marvel Legends and used to collect the now defunct DC Universe Classics. Aside from the aforementioned, that's about all, and it's a good thing too. My man cave toy museum is dangerously close to becoming full. I've been adding shelves just to accommodate all the figures I have.

I'm 39, i see no need to stop until i complete the S1 cast, favorites from S2 and maybe a few from the movoe and S3 in MP. The rest of the main S2 & 3 can be CHUG for all I care. Of which, i only collect what characters i want that i don't see need of having MPs of. So basically right now it's mainly MPs and the main line original G1 combiners as they come out, so, it's not even a full time collection anymore. I'm a G1 collector, i only ever venture from that if like with a very select few movie guys, like 10 figures all together, because they catch my eye, other than that, I'm out for one ultimate version of each G1 guy i want.

I also collect MOTUC as a picker, the new 2016 Filmation MOTU line and 2016 Thundercats...when they come. But MOTUC has slowed to a trickle, and the other two lines are only 6 figures each a year.

Basically i have slowed down a lot, but I'm still going to collect, at least for the time being.

Man I bet it feels great not being self conscious about buying a TF figure in stores for yourself. Being 19 I try not to let people know I collect for fear of ridicule or something. My family already bugs me by asking if I have enough... And no I don't have enough, I need every G1 figure in CHUG form and complete my Prime, Movie, & Animated shelves.

If you're 19 you should be focusing on acquiring your own home. Then your family has no right to say what you spend your money on. If I had started collecting while living at home, my parents would've kicked me out. If I had money to piss away on toys, then I can afford my own place. (I promptly moved out when they said I couldn't have girls spend the night. lol). Short story long: Spend your cash wisely, and then if there's any left, splurge on toys.

Transformers boxes recommend a minimum age, not a maximum age for a reason :)

I used to feel that way years ago. I found a simple reply that always ended any further questioning: "It's for my mom."

These days I just don't care so any questioning gets replied with, "Yep!"

I'm 33 (34 tomorrow) and even my mother has actually dissuaded me from selling my stuff during low points in the past year. She calls them my "treasures." Of course she doesn't have them taking up space in her home as was the case at one point...

I haven't bought a TF from a typical bricks and mortar outlet in almost 8 years, and I doubt that will change.

Besides, parcels are such fun. :p

Now every time I bring a side chic over its instant record skip when they see my collection ... Think if you're white you get more of a pass, but me (Mexican/white - take after my Latin heritage) I get no pass ... But you guys make it worth it so f$ck those b@tches!! :)

At 19 everyone went through that phase of worrying about what other people think of them. Eventually you out grow that line of thought and replace it with the thought: "F*** them" :)

I'm 35, I have no problem buying toys. Zoids, Transformers, miniatures to paint. All of it. Awesome.

I'm in the process of trying to build myself some guidelines for quiting without just going cold turkey. (3rd season is starting to get some real MP love and those are some of my favorites)

I hit a point a while ago where space was an issue and I don't neccesarily get the thrill I used to from a number of my new ones. (some still have the thrill)

The other problem has been that as the Hasbro in store toys have gotten worse (which you would think would help in stopping), the 3P MP stuff has gotten much better and Takara has responded by cranking out more MP than ever before. All of this stuff is expensive. Buying a $100 or even $200 figure here or there wasn't a big deal before, but there weren't that many of them. All of the sudden there's a ton of them and they're all expensive. Previously I pretty much bought what I wanted and it wasn't a big deal, but it's become very clear I need to change my philosophy.

I thought I would be done prior to AOE (I figured the toys would suck- and they really did). But rather than stopping, I went nuts customizing them (which was a lot of fun, so no complaints there). I've got to have one of the best AOE collections out there now.

So I figure I need to be done before we start getting hints of what's coming for TF5- because I always love the movie stuff most and I'll just go nuts again.

I'm trying to make a list of figures I know are coming (and can preorder) and then work on not being on these boards anymore (at least until I'm done collecting). The problem with being here is I see things I want i wouldn't even know about if I wasn't here.

Ha! Collecting never hurt my chances of getting laid, in fact, it kind of helped because girls were interested in what I was spending my time on, well, besides tricking out my car. Back in the day, a couple of my girlfriends would go to Target and Super K with me during the hunt. I think the key was moderation and to not be obsessed over it. Also, I don't think ethnicity has anything to do with it. I'm a 6'2" Black guy that doesn't fit the "collector" profile.

35 and I've gotten back into collecting for the past 4-5 years. I have a large display at home and always have 2-3 Transformers on display in my office.
