That's a rather ingenious manner of troopbuilding, I must say. Hailstorm himself isn't as much of an "uncommon" re-purpose, though, since he's technically IDW G1 now;

If you're looking to get more SG figures, track down the 2007 AllSpark Power Target Exclusive "Storm Surge" repaint of Cybertron Shortround. The associated fiction for SG uses it for SG Seaspray and it's fairly cheap to aquire secondhand in good condition. As a bonus, the toy literally has no faction symbols whatsoever beyond the odd "S7" cube logo here and there, the Cyber Key accessory is the only Decepticon symbol he's got, so you can easily slap on an SG Autobot sticker to add to the evil Autobot ranks.

Additionally, you could also pick up a Generations Nightbeat and simply use him as his SG self, since aside from the mold difference (which given how much E. Hot Shot outright sucks is hardly a concern, in my opinion at least) the only thing that marks SG Nightbeat different from a regular good guy Nightbeat is that unique "dagger nose" Autobot emblem, but I'm not aware of any aftermarket sticker sheets that have that as an option due to SG Nightbeat being the only dude to have that variant.

I repurposed Alternity Skywarp into Alternity Shockwave with the 3P Long Blast upgrade kit. The overabundance of purple fits Shockles better than 'Warp.



Similarly, Alternity Banzaitron will take his place as Alternity Skywarp (once I find the time to repaint some of his parts). Alternity Silver GT-R Convoy is basically Alternity Nova Prime to me, while Alternity Ultra Magnus (with the Jazz Reprolabels) has been repurposed as my Alternity Jazz.

DOTM Cyberverse Guzzle stands as my Classics Wrecker Guzzle (for lack of a better alternative), while FoC Kickback is standing in for Hardshell/Insecticon in my TF Prime Cons display.

DOTM Human Alliance Pinpointer (the targetmaster that came with DOTM HA Tailpipe) was repurposed into Bayverse Ratbat (by swapping his arms and legs around to make wings).

And is it really a repurpose if it shares the name and deco to that figure in the first place?

I consider a repurpose to be something like SG Treadshot as G1 Hyperdrive.

 

Right now I'm about half way to completing my multi-generation Four Horseman. Already have PRID Soundwave, HFTD Oil Pan, BH Night Shadow BB, PRID Dead End who fill Death, Rider form Famine, War and Pestilence respectively. Still need to track down Universe Razorclaw, Universe Nemesis Prime, ROTF Swerve, and TM2 Scourge to fill out the rest of the Rider forms and Famines normal form.

Picked up two GDO Brawls to repurpose as original characters. Trying to find a third now to eventually paint up as Nemesis Primes version of Roller since I'm already using Breacher as Classics Roller. Don't have a name for him yet though and quite frankly I'm struggling to think of anything clever.

I remember I picked up the Generations IDW Bumblebee to use him as my Classics Hubcap and FoC Optimus Prime was my FoC Orion Pax until we got the IDW Orion Pax figure. There are a few more examples, but those are the only two off the top of my head.

 

Well if he is the opposite of roller, stopper or blocker would make a twisted kinda sense as a name.

 

Or you could, you know, use Classics CJ and IDW BB to set them apart.

 

I have DotM Pinpointer with DotM Whirl's clip-on weapons as a movieverse Rumble.
DotM Backfire and Whirl are just drone prototypes.
Oh, and AoE Galvatron is my Motormaster.

 

I use BH Bulkhead as Brawn... that's all I can think of, off the top of my head.

 

I've considered looking on Ebay for Storm Surge occasionally. But the few times that I looked he was a little too expensive. But one day, I might get him.
Also I happen to have the Timeline Nightbeat, I suppose I could use that as the SG version, and just buy the generations for my main classics. Thanks for the advice.

Thats a good Optimus mold, But it would make someone else better.

 

I repurpose a lot of TFs, but the one I'm most fond of is Cybertron Swerve as a generic Autobot soldier (or army builder).

 

That I can think of deliberately for repurposing (and repurposing rather then just renaming the "right name", such as Classics 'Sky Shadow' to Black Shadow, or an extra Scourge(s) to be Sweeps):

The upcoming RID2 Deluxe Grimlock will be Goryu.

I'm in the process of repurposing the AoE Dinobots as an independent mercenary team, not the G1 Dinobots, not the Victory DinoForce, made up of:
Scorn (Scorn), the leader, ranged combat expert
Skewer (Slug), close quarters combat expert
Scorch (Grimlock), fire warrior
Slog (Slog), Armored tank
Strife (Strafe), Air huntsman
Septic (Snarl), Toxic Warrior

As I got later Classics/Universe/Generations Seekers, some of the olders became "background" seekers, literally in a shelf display sense, but figuratively in terms of names and whatnot. Classics Starscream, Timelines Dirge, Ramjet, and Thundercracker. Acid Storm is also in the back. For further differentiation and since I had them laying around, I took FOC Starscreams guns and put them on Timelines Ramjets shoulders for his guns, his guns went to Classics Starscream to further make them look different.

Also I'm playing around with AoE Deluxe Lockdown as a Deaths Head or a Terminator type, since he's a fun Transformer, just a terrible Lockdown.

 

Forgot about the upcoming RID Grimlock. Plan on getting the legends to repurpose as Goryu. Also plan on using BH Abominus to fill out the rest of the ranks. Which speaking of I also plan to use BH Hun-grrr, Blight, and Rippersnapper as the Monsterbots.
