So I recently sold off much of my G1 figures and I was thinking with the Generations, MP, Classic, Fanspro and other modernupdates Are you still able to pull the trigger on those oldies but goodies? Or you simply passing for something new?

I for the most part had traded in my G1 figures to jumpstart my Classics-U collecting back around 2007-ish and really sice haven't found much of G1 very interesting since...

I bought a retail tf today. Idw crosscut. It's the first non-legends size modern tf I've bought in over 2 yrs. Im primarily a vintage tf collector. I sold off almost all of my chug/tfa/aec/bay tfs yrs ago to re-focus my collection towards old school tfs. The only 3p action I have is the FP target master for chug hotrod. As far as MPtfs, I have 3 Hasbros - skywarp, grimlock, and hftd screamer.

I have no nostalgia for 80s toys, even ones I owned. What I look for as a collector is not offered in G1 bricks. Plus I prefer modernization of the characters and designs so for my money, the game figures and Classics are the major things tempting me. MP is too G1 in aesthetics and while that isn't bad I do prefer modernized designs. Movie figures are built using movie aesthetics which I despise.

    So yeah, Classics for me.

I centre my collection around the G1/Diaclones like Prowl, Skids and Ultra Magnus.

I don't like the CHUG cars as I prefer cars to be scout size. Plus the metal G1 cars seem more realistic looking. Growing up on G1, articulation is a bonus but not a necessity. I despise Legends. Sorry but I do.

I love Robot Masters Mirage, CHUG Windcharger, HM Junior Chromedome and the Kabaya Headmasters. Third parties like oversized Korean Bruticus, Fansproject Stunticons and the clip on heads for G1 Ratchet and Ironhide are welcome additions in my collection.

I do like some CHUG's like the previously mentioned Windcharger, Inferno and his mold mates, Blades, Henkei Megatron, Scout Sandstorm.

Even though I grew up on G1, I don't strictly collect it. I do like the toys and have several from this generation. However, it's the G1 style character design I desire more than a particular line. I'm not limited to toys, either. Basically if it resembles G1, I'm all for it.

    What is CHUG?

And for what little collecting I do, it's all modern stuff. No attachment to the old stuff despite growing up with it.

I'm not really a G1 guy. I own a few but not many, unless its reissues. G1 Sixshot is that rare exception I made.

i like some of both. my collection is about half chug and half g1. like optimus, there isn't anything better than the classic g1 semi to me and with springer, I don't like the g1 mold but I love the generations voyager of him. I just get the ones I like the best out of both.

G1 and IDW inspired designs for me (and my family)

My boys and i love the chugs and kreo stuff which are heavily influenced by G1 and we are still watching G1 toons on a regular basis, especially the two and three parters.

I adore the IDW designs so would not be entirely against masterpiece doing those at some point; but Takara please first get all the 84/85 autobots done! ;)

Depends if there is a NEW version that is very very close to the g1 cartoon version

For example the chug seekers have replaced the g1 version of the seekers. But with Blaster and his tapes, its still the g1 toys for sure.

I still like the original G1 toys but they're often out of my price range

My G1 collection would be the very last ones I would sell....if ever.

Old school is still easily the best.

My G1 collecting has slowed WAAAYYYYY down. I own much of what I REALLY want from that era. My last G1 figure purchased was the Encore Fortress Maximus. I'd probably buy Grand Maximus or Dezarus or any other G1 reissue if made available that doesn't already reside in my collection. But...trying to complete my Pretenders or Actionmaster collection doesn't really hold much of my attention anymore.

That said, Brave Series still holds my attention somewhat. I don't know why...but those are some really cool, fun bricks to play with and display. It's everything I wished G1 had been post-1988.

I have most of the g1 that I want. Every once in a while I'm reminded of a figure I don't have and contemplate whether or not to get it. I've also gotten rid of most of everything from '87 on. Whenever there is an updated version of one of those that I find appealing enough I pick it up. I like to display the updated in bot mode with the g1 in alt mode in front.

I'm never buying anything pre-1996 again.

Unless I wax nostalgic and get G2 Dreadwing.
