Hasbro cares about what people want, because that is how capitalism works. If there is a demand, and you have the supply, people will buy it. So Hasbro has to care to some extent what the fans want because we are part of their consumer-base.

Isn't that the fandom? In pure "adult" form. Aka 3rd party forum.

Hasbro cares alot about what their main demographic wants, no doubt about that. Now, please carry on - I'm quite looking forward to the bit about what happens when there is a demand and you don't care enough to fill it.

    :popcorn

I'll even help you do some research, there are about 60 third parties on big bad toystore - go on now, dying to hear the rest.

BUSINESS, IN IT FOR THE MONEY?

    YOU DON'T SAY!

They care about fans - because then we give them money. That's the extent of their caring; just so they can make money.

Is this even a real thread, or am I still sleeping? Jesus christ...

The answer to the original question is "yes." And, also, "no."

That should clear everything up for everyone. I think this thread can be closed now.

This. Because a company only makes money when it's its customers happy.

While the ultimate goal has to be making money, making money doesn't mean that you can't also give a darn.

Take Seeker-Gate. Hasbro could have said screw it demand is high so lets release the Seekers in the exact same colors as the convention set and screw the people who paid so much for the set. But instead of screwing the small demographic of collectors who buy convention sets Hasbro re-released the Seekers in slightly different different colors so the convention set could retain some of it's rarity.

Or the figures we have gotten that people would wonder why did anyone think this would have any kid appeal. Waspinator was voted a fan favorite but poor poor Waspinator doesn't exactly fit with what Hasbro has been doing. Yet we still got a nice Waspinator figure.

I think maybe the designers of some toys and maybe 30-40% of employees may care. But the investors dont give a damn.

Hasbro is mostly in it for the money. And for evil. And kicking puppies.

3P are only in it for pure, unadulterated love and goodness an beauty and making fans happy and bringing about a new utopia.

Well they exist. They're called "non-profits". None of which have anything to do with toys.

However; show me a toy company behind a multibillion dollar franchise that has a vast media empire who's sole purpose is to drive toy sales...that isn't in it to make money.

Third Party companies exist because there are certain toys Hasbro just can't make because it would cause them too many losses. Third party companies can make smaller production runs, with a higher cost to buy, because they know devoted collectors will buy them.

Every toy Hasbro produces is exactly that: a TOY. Toy first, collector's item second. Toys that are supposedly for collectors like Generations and Masterpiece will also be bought by children, and Hasbro of course factors this in, both in sales, and how the toys are designed.

Hasbro has been doing this business a long time, and they know quite a bit more about it than most of us ever will.
