huh so looking at that box there was a street date for these guys.

also i would not waste your money on afa for these guys. they are just repaints of a not so great mold esp since the new ss mold.

i think afa is a waste unless it is truly rare. talk to diablien about afa since he has some of his ss graded. but these 2 i wouldnt do it.

If you really wanted to send these to AFA, you shouldn't have opened the case. They can grade them as "U" class if you send them the whole case, then they are worth even more.

It will certainly cost you about $85 per figure PLUS shipping if you send these to AFA. And it'll take over a month to get them back.

 

How valuable can a brand new toy be anyway, even if it's AFA'd? You could wait for decades before you have a hope of making your money back from the AFA expenses, if it even surpasses it in value.

 

Decades? It didn't take more than one decade for G1 stuff to reach prices of $100-$200. I remember seeing a $250 MISB Jetfire in a comics store when I was maybe 11. That was only 6 years since its release.

I don't really want to get in an AFA discussion because it's not like anyone is bringing up any novel points that haven't been talked to death before, but I will try to inform a bit.

Modern era toys are less likely to reach G1 prices, ever, just due to the quantities of them being manufactured. However, you all must recall your own experience with transformers at a young age, up till your adulthood. The story, characters, figures and the tv show stuck with you forever. The question is whether the movie will have an ever BIGGER impact on the youth of today than G1 cartoon did to us, meaning in 15 years, will the youth of today acquire wealth and return to their nostalgic roots much as we all have? It you look at the newer toys, they are far more complex and more refined as overall toys. This additional complexity comes at a price though: easier to break. Hardcore G1 collectors have created names for special condition pieces, such as non-stress Darkwind, or with-head Swoop. There are common flaws to the figures that reveal themselves over time. I'm sure there will be many broken movie figures down the line and the AFA versions will be some of the most sought after. The most breakable toys become the most valuable. Case and point - look at Black Zarak.

Auto-morph and mech-alive increase the likelihood of kids damaging their toys during play time. I welcome the destruction.   end rant

 

Hey all, I forgot to mention n my earlier post that I hit downers grove tru on 75th&355 and they had crap loads of wave 3 stuff. From what I saw lots of mixmasters, I just hit romeoville target and they had a few of the new TiTs out, and now I'm @ walmart across the way from there and they haven't gotten much of anything, and I'm waiting on a friend to get back to me about the only mixmaster I've found here. Cheers!
