Yeah...I saw them at Meijer today...what a mess. Hasbro is going to take a loss on this one for sure. Somebody is getting fired. They decided put it out in 3D...probably due to the success of the Avengers. So now we gotta wait til next year

I think the 3D thing is an excuse and they were actually worried about it getting killed by Batman and the other movies coming out this summer. So they moved it to March so there is less competition.

One of my best Buddys moved to cali and hit it big in the editing industry. He is right in the middle of everything Hollywood. He tells me things about certain movies long before release, like "go see THIS movie because this one scene is incredible" type stuff.

We played gijoe as kids...he is still a little bit of a fan, but not a collector or anything.

I called him right after the news, and he was about to call me to tell me.

The 3d thing is a complete sham. It was screened, and did SO poorly paramount pulled it from release, and as he puts it the new release date is not even confirmed, as it is very possible this is the 1st time a complete movie with big name actors is considered being tossed.
He told me, "do not be suprised if you see something completely off the wall, like paramount selling this movie to HBO, Sci-fi, or FOX, because this has never happened quite like this. The only time it HAS happened close to this fasion, the entire film was tossed, and everyone called it a loss. It will be very unlikely that ANYONE will be willing to dish out the cash for more advertising again, seeings how much was wasted with a superbowl slot. Everyone over here is talking about it, and thinking there will be TONS of lawsuits from every side.."

Take it for what it is, my buddy knows everything about that shit. Personally I'm done even considering seeing it in the theater, and the best thing Chu could do right now, is to have someone steal the movie and pirate it. His chances of any success now is nil. The actors have to be pissed, pre and post pro companys are steaming...and paramount is a laughing stock.

But the BIG loser here is Hasbro. Now they have these GARBAGE ass toys with no movie to help push them, they can't hold this stuff back, retailers aren't going to "store thier shit" for 10 months...hasbro is the big loser.

Buddys best bet, is that he thinks this will be announced "straight to dvd" and it will not even hit theaters. He told me there is a guy in his office that knows one of the people that screened it. He said the things that were said were atrocious, and if its all true, they should not dump another penny into it.

All in all...this is a very unique Hollywood story, that will be interesting to see play out.

I honestly think 3D is just their excuse. They don't have any faith that it can compete with this summers line-up. Its too bad too, the movie looks pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see some heavy re-writes. The kind of re-writes Channing Tatum will be happy about.

EDIT: Could have saved myself some time had I waited a minute or two. I just saw Snake Eyes post

Dang. That just sucks that they might not bother putting the movie in theaters, that it might get a straight-to-DVD release or maybe not release it at all.

snake eyes1975, Thanks for the info. Pity as I've never been into GI JOE and this looked interesting.

and the mind boggles, in a world where the "____Movie" movies get released what the heck did this film do wrong?!

Now If only they would do that to Amazing Spider-Man.

My guess is it will get leaked on purpose before the release, just like X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Producer Jeff Katz put it online because he knew it was garbage and fans would be pissed, so to kill the sting it shows up online first, then people went to see it because of how complete shit it was.

Well and Blob's growing hula girl tattoo.

Normally I'm very suspicious of people saying "I know a guy" but this actually sounds more probable than the whole "post convert into 3d" bullshit Paramount is saying.
