Rob/Dew: I saw the Uranos at a shop in Taichung. Haven't seen it at Taipei stores yet. Found one ruten auction site. Let me dig up the store info and get back to your guys.

mtmte586: Those stores are still there at the Taipei Underground. There are like 3 big stores that sell SoC, Transformers, Gundams, Legos, SHf, and anime figures. The other smaller shops are consignments.

For whatever reason, Third Party stuff is kinda hard to come by if you try to buy in the store. There are only a few ruten sellers that sell them. Taiwan doesn't really have big online toy retail sites, so a lot of people pre-order stuff on ruten or through small local shops. Even for Hong Kong which IMO the best toy place on earth, is somewhat harder to find third party than one expect. A few tf specialize shops carry them but almost at the same price sometimes higher than U.S. sites. Outside of a handfull of shops, I haven't seen third party widely available.

the one big transformers store in taipei underground is no more :c

i'm visiting relatives in taiwan right now and hoping to find a good store in the taipei area that carries MPs and/or KOs.

if anyone can throw me some pointers, i'd greatly appreciate it! :)

    cheers,

I have been back from my Taipei holiday for a few months now and I think the underground mall was about the best place for toys in general. They have alot of gundams but the variety and number of transformers stuff was quite disappointing.

Two other places which was mentioned by others but I didn't manage to find:
"Another good area is near Q-square (across the street from Taipei Main Station). There's a street nearby that has a few shops that have a good selection of new and older stuff. Also, if you don't mind a short train ride, there's a shop in Shulin near the train station that usually has some decent Transformers and a ton of Gundam for excellent prices."

thanks for the tip, bro! i'll see if i can find those spots. i mentioned it to the wife and she *thinks* she knows where that area is.

i also found a local shop (keelung) that carries some TF stuff. decently priced, too! found a mp-10b for $120. not too shabby. i think i'ma pick it before i leave. they also have YOTH mp-10 but it's $160; same price from tfsource. they also have some reissue stuff like megatron black and twincast for like $50. not too bad.

still, wish i could find more KOs, heh. looking for those brightly colored gestalts :)

    cheers,

    KO

Check out this site: Great place for Transformers

It's all in Chinese, but I'm sure there's someone who can help you. He has several store locations as well, with tons of new and older stuff. Great prices, as well. Picked up a Hasbro Metroplex from him a couple weeks back for the same price as in the US. Pretty damn good, considering all the department stores have it priced for around $150 US. Also got an MP Streak for $50 US.

As for the KO stuff, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find. Some places still have some stuff, but the big thing now is those marble shooting things.

    @ rob
turns out that the place you recommended is the same place that i mentioned in my post. it has a taipei office and also a keelung office. going to hit them tomorrow in hopes of finding streak, prowl, and maybe a smokescreen.

    cheers, mates!

Wow, where'd you find a Grimlock?

For those interested, TRU here is having a sale (as of yesterday it was still on-going) on Transformers. Deluxes are 495, Voyagers 895. They have the Rhinox Voyager wave and Waspinator Deluxe wave.

rob, i went to the taipei store that you pointed me to. i noticed that he was in the display shelf and basically made an open plea to the owner of the store, LOL.

the owner thought it over and was like, "he doesn't have the box or any of the accessories, but i'll give it to you for $100."

i was like, "sold!" and while i was looking at some of the other figures in the display cabinet, i noticed grim's gun and sword! i was like, "those belong to him!" they smiled and happily included it with my purchase :)

also, i was at another shop by the taipei main station yesterday. sorry, wish i could tell you the street name, but i'm a foreigner here. all i can say is that at the intersection leading into this area, there was a giant billboard with a dude that read "jun style or jun boy" or something on the NE corner. i walked for a bit on the left-hand side of the street and found a place called 101toys or something. they were a bit overpriced, but they had a MP Rodimus on display. it had never been transformed, had all accessories and the box, and they were asking $200 for it. not toooo bad.

also, if you are every in the luodong area, there is a toy shop that specializes in transformers and transformers KOs. i haven't been there this year, but the shop last year that the rainbox colored g1 sixshot ko, tons of rainbow seacons, tons of ko alternators, legit transformers, and a bunch of other random tf odds and ends. probably the most diverse, and eclectic, toy store i've visited in TW. last i was there, i bought a transforming revolver for $1 USD! sold that ish for $400 when i got back to the States :)  :)  :)  :)

    update:

hit up "Da Ming" toys in taipei again in hopes of buying more display items, but was given a polite, "No."

apparently they let me have the grimlock because they heard me speaking English, and felt that it'd be a disservice to turn me away, considering that i'd traveled so far. oh well, i am grateful for the grimlock tho :)

they did tell me that they are getting the grimlock reissue tho in march. they quote a price of $150 USD, which is not too bad at all. too bad i won't be in taiwan at this time :c

also - good news!!! - the main transformers toy store in Taipei main station HAS REOPENED!!!!!!!!!

i went there yesterday and they had a bunch of good stuff. notables:

mp fairlady brothers for $150 for a set.
    around $53 for each.
also had linkin park soundwave for $85!!! <-- killer deal btw

again, thanks rob and dew for all the help. i leave taiwan today and won't be back for another year. at least i know of some good spots now :)

wasn't able to go to luodong this year, but i'll try again next year and update ya'll if ya'll are interested.

    cheers!

    wo ai taiwan! ^_^ zaijian!

Hey guys, I'm going to be in Taipei in May for work, near the 101 tower. Quickly browsing through this thread it seems like I won't be able to find much vintage stuff (like in Japan/HongKong/Singapore), but might be able to find recent Hasbro/Takara and 3rd party?

Recent Has/Tak stuff is no problem to find at all. Take the MRT to Taipei Main Station and wander the Underground Mall, starting around Exit Y16 or so. Lots of stuff there.

3rd party might be a bit more difficult to find though.

I was at the TRU on DunHua Road (in the Ikea building) in Taipei a couple of days ago and they had an MP Soundwave and MP Acid Storm in the glass case by the checkout.

I will be going to the Underground Mall by Taipei Main Station next week. As I will have limited time, can someone recommend a particular store(s) to find Takara MPs?

I didn't see too much along the lines of newer or Takara MP stuff at the Taipei Underground Mall, but the one store called Toy Park around Exit Y16 is your best bet for TF related stuff. Head over to Miramar off Jianan Rd MRT station, and the Toy Land on the 4th Floor had some older MPs like Sunstorm, Ghost Starscream, with a Sixshot, and a Rhinox Generations Voyager in the case.

Whirl, Acid Storm, YOTH OP and Starscream are plentiful at just about any TRU.

I didn't make it out to "Da Ming" Toys as mentioned previously, and I'm not sure exactly where it is and how close it is to the MRT station. But it sounds like it might be a good place for MPs and TFs in general for selection.

I think if you are looking for Takara MPs and especially for a larger selection, your best bet is still to purchase them from an online retailer even though shipping can be expensive to the US, especially from HK online retailers. TFSource and BBTS prices are pretty comparable as well if shipping within the US.

Went to the Underground Mall beneath Taipei Main Station yesterday. Several stores had:

    Mp-08
    Mp-10B
    Mp-13
    Mp-13B
    Mp-13 Linkin Park edition

Also saw a couple of Mp-18 and an Mp-12G.

Couldn't make it over to Da Ming this time (from some online research, I believe it is in Outer Taipei, not the city itself) or the shops at Ding Hao department store. Thanks alkamist for the suggestions, hopefully next trip I can get to the stores I missed this time around!
