The Carrefours and the RT Marts around Taiwan always have some Transformers toys. Right now it's mostly all movie stuff.

Has anyone seen Animated Wreck-Gar or Animated Cliffjumper anywhere in Taipei?
How about the Universe 3-pack with Cosmos, Warpath and Wheelie?

I'm going to be heading to Taiwan over Christmas. First time back there since 1998.

Any ideas as to where I can find Macross items? I know of the Sogos and other department stores but I'm not aware if there are any shopping districts that cater to hobbies like Akihabara and Den Den Town for Tokyo and Osaka.

I'm going to be stuck in Luo Dong for most of the time on the island visiting my wife's relatives but I plan on escaping to Taipei for some serious shopping before I leave.

Try Wan Nian (Complex/Tower, whatever) located near Ximen Ding. Some decent toy shops there with great prices. :thumbs2:

Taipei City Underground Mall. Sh#tloads of Macross, Gundam kits/toys found when I was there earlier on this year. Those are so much easier finds than TFs. :cry :cry :cry

Also Zhongxiao Dunhua where there's a cluster of toyshops.

Hope this helps else you gotta wait for the natives to logon. :)

I did a little research online and they said Wan Nian and the Underground Mall as well.

If I don't make it out to Osaka for the side trip we're going to be splitting time between Luo Dong and Taichung.

I know there's a Sogo in Taichung and from what research I've done, there are lots of little boutique toy shops in and around the city.

I've only been to Taichung once when I was a kid but it was only for a couple of days. I don't know a thing about that city.

Good thing is it's only 30 minutes from Taichung to Taipei on the bullet train. :D

    Point taken. :thumbs2:

I spent 5 days in Taipei the last round so I'm so gonna hit Taichung the next time I visit Taiwan. Many thanks for spilling the whereabouts of those toyshops in Taichung, I wouldn't miss 'em for a thing when I'm there! ;)

The bullet train will be a new experience for us, though I was warned that it could cost us some pretty notes. :redface2:

I think the bullet train from Taipei to Taichung is $30 one way. Not sure though. It's supposed to be only a half hour ride or something.

My sister has a place there. In fact, my nephew is firejetmanguy above. :lol

Wow, was surprised to find this thread.

Anyway, I was at Carrefour in ShuLin Saturday and they had some of the new Voyagers like Bludgeon and Mindwipe, the Legends Devestator set and some other RotF odds and ends.

I was also at the Sinjhuang Toys R Us (on JungJen Road across the street from the Sinjhuang Carrefour) and found the new NEST Deluxes, including Dirge! Didn't pick one up though :(  Waiting until next weekend. They also have Bludgeon and Mini-stator, but no Mindwipe. They have the Hoist/Mixmaster two-pack and some left-over RotF Superions. Also, they have Buster OP and the Buster OP/Jetfire two-pack in stock. That new Jetfire looks great in the darker colours!

They have some left over Universe and Animated Deluxes as well, and on sale to boot. Animated Deluxes are selling for about NT$285 each and Universe are about NT$385 each.

I'll be heading back to Toys R Us this coming Saturday to pick up a Dirge and will also check to see what other stuff they have.

Don't seem to be many members in the 'wan anymore. :(

Oh well. I thought I'd post some recent sightings anyway, just in case.

I was in Ximen Ding last weekend and saw some nice new stuff. Can't for the life of me remember the name of the building, but it's one with all the hobby shops on the fourth floor. Anyway, on one of the other floors, there's a shop that sells mainly Star Wars, but has some Transformer product, too. I saw the new Predaking reissue and the super-shiny gold Battle Ops Bumblebee. He had a bunch of other stuff, like some Alternators, Alternity, Encores and that SDCC Blaster. Prices were pretty good, too. Bumblebee was tempting at $2000, which is easily half what you'll pay at Toyland or department stores.

Oh, Toyland has been stocking up on the Japanese Animated figures, too. However, they're jacking up the prices big-time. I saw Rodimus and was about snag it, but it was $1080!!
