I'm gonna be in Taiwan in May for about 3 weeks, mostly in Taipei but a week in Taichung. Which stores have the most selection of transformers? Are the prices comparible or cheaper than in the states?

Your best bets would be Toys R Us (玩具"反"斗城) and Toy-e-Go (玩具e哥). I would suggest typing in their Chinese names into Google Maps or any other location search tool you use because some chains can't be recognized on the app by their English names for some reason.

The Taipei Main Station (which is where your train from TPE to Taichung will likely be) has a series of underground malls with three Toy-E-Goes in total & some other small stores for niche & second-hand goodies. It's basically a mini-Akihabara, fantastic place even if just to kill time.

At this mall in 天母 Tiānmǔ: 大葉高島屋 Dàyè Gāodǎo Wū (Dayeh Takashimaya). They’ve had these Kre-O and Botbots here since they were new on shelves!

Hell yeah I've been here! It's been almost a year but I recall they also had literal shelves full of AOE, RID2015, TLK, Siege, and Rescue Bots stuff side by side like it was Mandarake for all the lamest Transformers of the 2010s.

I've always been curious what's going on. Like, why can't management get the message and just throw away stuff people obviously don't want? Is this place basically a glorified landfill? Or perhaps is there some fishy money laundering/tax evasion scheme going on here like in the claw machines?

 

SS-38 has been reissued again. We also have WFC OP now @ Shin Kong Taipei Main Station

I saw them all at the one in Taipei Station. Only picked up Beachcomber cuz not out yet in the states and Shrapnel cuz it's rare and sold out for some reason. Prices were about $24ish USD which us the same as the states but that excludes taxes. So Taiwan is a couple of bucks cheaper.
