Just been to Shin Kong and they got all the new stuff as well. Gorgeous shit!

Unfortunately Bee was last in the store and got bought by a kid and his mom while I was waiting to grab him if they bailed

Toys r Us Taipei today (11/1)

Hi TW friends, is there anywhere you would recommend for toy-hunting? I'm going there this month and will be staying around XMD.

 

Ximending is an one MRT ride away from Beimen (green line). There you can find the Underground Mall for action figures and whatnot. You can either find collectors’ items or retail stores (I recommend Toy-e-Go, it’s basically the TRU of Taiwan).

And of course there is also Toys R Us itself. Prices there are slightly cheaper than Toy-e-Go. The MRT station is kind of far from its Xinsheng branch (the only decent one in all of Taiwan) so take the 606 bus.

Also keep an eye out for online shopping. Those have better inventories than brick and mortar stuff. WAY BETTER STUFF. You could just make an account, order some stuff, have it shipped to a convenience store (7/11, Family Mart, Hi-Life), then pay there in cash.

 

Ximending is not a far walk from 台北車站地下街 (Taipei Main Station Underground Mall), like @ObakaChanTachi suggests。Section Y is where the toy shops are. If you go up and out exit Y13, there are a couple of toy shops along 太原路 (Taiyuan rd)— Google 東東玩具 (dongdong toys)、101 Toy Kingdom、and 芃芃玩具 (pengpeng toys)。If you like cheap KOs, go across the street and up a bit from PengPeng to 尚圓玩具百貨商行 — there’s a creepy stairs that’ll lead you to some toys on the 2nd floor. I’ve seen them turn away Taiwanese customers from going up and browsing the 2nd floor, but I’m a white guy and use my foreign power of nobody willing to speak with me, so if you look like a foreigner, just go up.

There are a couple of Toy E Go’s 玩具E哥 in the Underground Mall and a bunch scattered around the city. Any big shopping mall usually has the (more expensive) toy options of either a FunBox or a ToyWorld.

Right there in Ximen, there is also the 萬年 building. There are still toy shops on the 4th floor, but very few TFs nowadays. Good place for hobby supplies.

Oh, for high end collectibles 野獸國玩具 Beast Kingdom toys. Sometimes have big expensive TF statues. Lots of cool Marvel stuff.
An interesting place you might want to go is 光華商場 (GuangHua) electronics mall. The mall beside it (to the right when facing / East) has both a Beast Kingdom & Toy E Go inside.
