I noticed yesterday a lack of CW wave 3. Sold out I'm guessing.

For some of the non-Combiner sightings of Hasbro toys in HK...

Classic Legion Class wave 3 - Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, Cliffjumper
Robots in Disguise One-Step Changers wave 3 - Drift, Fracture, Thunderhoof (I'm seeing multiple Fractures at a number of places, but I've only seen a single Drift and Thunderhoof so far)
Robots in Disguise Electronic Titan Heroes wave 1 - Optimus, Bumblebee
Robots in Disguise Super 3-step Bumblebee
Robots in Disguise Warrior Class wave 3 - Jazz, Sideswipe
Robots in Disguise Transforming Titans wave 1 - Optimus, Bumblebee
Robots in Disguise Titan Heroes wave 2 - Sideswipe
Age of Extinction Robots in Disguise Power Battlers Junkheap (I know it's been out for a while, but I found one yesterday at TRU, and it is so rare for the Westerners, it is worth mentioning :p  )

Photo proof of most of that here.

(thanks to Bladestorm for being an awesome tour-guide yesterday :D  )

    Depends what you are after.
Masterpiece are sold all over the place. QT's are pretty common too.
There are two stores in Wan Chai toy street that sell figures from the new series (ie the TAV and TED stuff). You can also find some of the Japanese AoE figures on toy st (but also fakes so need to be wary).
I'm sure you'll find them in some of the malls in Kowloon too...
It really depends which lines you are after.

HK physical stores are really small typically so shelf space is limited.

If you're looking for older items it's far better to look on yahoo auctions, toyzone and robotkingdom.

For newer items the shops mentioned above should be worth checking out. Don't bother with toys r us.

Thanks for helping and telling me the names of the stores. I was looking for G1 reissues and Generations/Combiner Wars. When Generations Metroplex and Devastator reissue first came out, I asked my cousin in Hong Kong to help
me find it in there. But there wasn't any at Toys R Us. It wasn't sold there. Wish I knew about the Hong Kong thread a long time ago.

Toys R Us just seems to be very slow or inconsistent at stocking on the new TFs.

Pre-movie launch they're on the ball but everything else is hit or miss.

The best thing to do if you're thinking of going to HK for toy shopping is to check yahoo auctions for what is in circulation. Even if you don't buy from there it's a very good indication of price and availability.

Went to a pretty cool place today on the 3rd floor of Sino Centre in Mong Kok called Hobbybase.
They still had limited Combiner Wars stock - Had Slingshot and Wildrider but wouldn't sell me as they were all pre-orders. (When they did have stock they sold them for HK$168 which is great compared to their on the street price of HK$240+ everywhere else). Combiner Wars is HUGELY popular here so does sell out.
They also had a fair bit of older Generations stuff and a few other nice bits and pieces although prices are more expensive than Wan Chai for the new RiD stuff and TakTomy stuff. A fair bit of older MIB/MOC stuff - not cheap but not unreasonable prices for what most of them were. They also had just opened a case of APS-01U's but pulled the coverings off them all!!! (I don't understand why shops "damage" their entire stock like that!) Listed at just shy of $1800... I paid less through RK but obviously popular as two people brought one while I was there.
Also a lot of pieces on display MIB but they aren't willing to sell them... (eg TakTomy AoE Nemesis Prime/Grimlock) display only (but no English sign so I kept asking "oooh - how much for this, how much for that").
They had a nice display of MP's including a shoddily modified Exhaust.

For G1 re-issues, Sino and In's Point in Mong Kok generally have some nice finds. For example: Encore Starsabre for HK$500 was in one of the stores in In's Point today (didn't get to check if we was opened or mint)... I don't collect Starsabre so just saw it in passing as I eyeballed off some Optimii. ;)

In HK finding what you want is all about the hunt. And sometimes you find other amazing pieces as you go too. You have to think outside the Toys'R'Us and chain toy stores because the real gems are found in the smaller stores. :)

    Toyzone on HK Island.

Sino Centre and In's Point (while it still exists) in Yau Ma Tei/Mong Kok would be good starts. Those are both shopping mall with lots of small shops that have a myriad of different vintage and price ranged stuff on offer as well as current/more recent stuff.

Unicronic can probably also recommend the best online resources.

In these places you'll find a little bit of everything (US, Japanese, Chinese) BUT in the malls you will have to hunt through various stores which will take time and the prices may not be cheap as most stores stocking items will know the worth of what they have.

Aside from Toyzone I don't know of a big one stop shop to hunt items down.

As I've said over and over. HK TF shops are small so shelf space is at a premium.

Also Victory Leo etc are anything but cheap especially if they're in good condition and if they're boxed you are looking at major money.

The best thing to do is to check with online places in HK first to get a feel for what is out there. Many of the entries on Yahoo Auctions are 'buy now' and give you their store address which may lead to more items you're interested in.

Given I WANT trypticon I'm going to have to hold back on my CW purchases... I think there are some QT's due out on the 30th too right?
Might take a wander over to Wan Chai on Monday time permitting and see if they have anything new on the shelves.

These next few months are going to be mucho expensive with all the goodies coming out and we still don't know what Ani-con is going to have yet do we??

    Ahhhh... but which one?
Do you think they'll give us the basic version or the shiny comicon version?

most places are saying normal Devy will be released end of June... ani-con isn't until 3rd week of July so if that's true I wouldn't think they would be offering something that is already released would they?
