As well as all AOE Waves 1 & 2 being in HK now, you can also find Generations Tankor and Rattrap.

Yes it is :)  I'm from the states but have family in HK. Are the Takara TF's more cheaper in price point then the Hasbro's that hit HK? Just curious.

From a resident's standpoint they're roughly the same price. That may make them a better deal for a tourist.

Where is the best place to pre-order from in HK?

I want to order the Optimus (Convoy) transforming pen. I've seen it for pre-order in a couple of places in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai but wondering if a) they can be trusted and b) if there are better places with better prices to consider. I didn't see any pre-order lists at the shops over in Mong Kok when I was in CDMA the other day...

IMO, the best places to pre-order or guarantee availability are Chimungmung and RobotKingdom.

In you are based in HK you can pay local shipping which is almost nothing and get it within 24-48hrs (if it is in stock there and then).

Do either have stores on the ground in HK I can go into?

Robot Kingdom is over US$10 more expensive for the pen I'm after than all the stores I looked in on the island...

I'd rather deal with face to face, especially since a lot of what is mailed to me never arrives at my complex...

Just online. The issue is that physical shops don't have the space to keep lots of stock in reserve.

Just wondering how much is the retail prices in TRU Hong Kong of transformers generations deluxes, voyagers and leaders?

Also, what other places are good for hunting tf's? I've been to inn's point and sino centre before and will surely visit those places again. any other suggestions?

I'll be going there next week for a short vacation.

Toys R Us are typically RRP/SRP only with discounts towards end of life.

    Deluxes are HK$150 (approx US$20)
    Voyagers are HK$270 (approx US$35)
    Leaders are HK$520 (approx US$67)

You can get lower prices by going to independent shops.

Inn's Point/Sino Centre have become part of HK shopping folklore but are generally over-rated. Shops are tiny.

I would try the following: Wanchai's Tai Yuen Street that have 4-5 shops that are all pretty good one of them has Takara stock.

If you are going to Mong Kok area also use Yahoo's Auctions which have a HUGE list of TF's that are available to 'Buy Now' and collect in person i.e. no shipping fees. Mong Kok is a very popular collection point.

Yes the site is in Traditional Chinese but Google Translate works fine with it and many of the buyers speak English at some level.

Shops are generally small in HK and don't have space for excess stock.

That's why I recommend RobotKingdom and Chimungmung even if you're in HK. Local shipping is next to nothing and is still cheap for a bulk order which can be delivered to where ever you are staying within 24-48 hours.

I second the "Toy Market" in Wan Chai (Tai Yuen St). There are a couple of stores there with a good range of Transformers merchandise and most of what you will find is real. The only thing I would suggest is to shop around first rather than impulse buying at the first store you see just to make sure you get the best price.

There are also a few small stores in 188 Centre on Johnson Road on the border of Wan Chai as you head towards Causeway Bay. This mall also has computer stuff, especially games for consoles, etc. Once again, shop around when looking at prices and be aware this place may have fakes in play in some stores. You tend to tell which stores stock the real stuff as they are normally packed with collectors.

Sham Shui Po also has a toy street however most of what you will find there in Transformers range is fake.

There are one off shops around Hong Kong but given you're here on holiday unless you are staying close by one of them might be too much hassle. Nobletime (A toy/stationary store) in Westwood Shopping Mall in Kennedytown is run by a serious Transformers collector so he often has some interesting Transformers items for sale in his shop. Wonderland (another toy/stationary store) in Provident Centre in North Point also often has some interesting Transformers finds (and has a display of some older Transformers in one of their windows displays so I assume their owner may also be a TF fan/collector). These two places I wouldn't make the effort to visit unless you are staying close to one of these locations.

If you are going into a Toys R Us, the one in Tsim Sha Tsui is the biggest, although stock varies between all the stores... I find the one in Causeway Bay isn't too bad if you're stuck on the island. The one in Central is generally terrible... Tai Koo is ok but I prefer Causeway Bay. Causeway Bay is where the transformers toy launch took place and they still have some displays up from the event (AoE Optimus statue and figures on display).

    Happy hunting!

Has anyone been to the HK Ani-Con before? I notice this year Hasbro Hong Kong has a couple of booths... do they do anything related to Transformers at these events?
I'm contemplating braving the crowds to go along out of curiosity... my only worry is I can't find much information in English on the event so I'm not sure what exactly to expect (other than insane crowds).

Also keen to look at the Starscream Optimus monstrosity.
