I'd have to assume the Forge can read the intentions of anyone who holds it, so long as the hand of a Prime is holding it to activate it, and that Prime isn't imposing their own will over the Forge.

The Covenant also shows the Matrix was once part of the hilt of the Star Saber. And wasn't there a novel or something that claimed the Star Saber had been split into 5 parts? If that's the case, then the Star Saber as shown in Prime may not be the complete sword.

Would Megs have really cared that it was Sentinel?

It seems a good amount of time passed between Sentinel's death and Prime leaving Cybertron. I'm sure he found time.

And Megs' DID get Liege's hand...

It would have been like this.

    Agreed.

I've always thought of Prime as it's own thing. Trust me you sleep easier the sooner you do so.

    YouTube (Custom URL):
My money is on that it was Sentinel, regardless of what the mess of the book said. Plus, I feel it would be a bit more personal, regarding Megatron's personal grudge against Sentinel for treating the lower classes of Cybertron, of all Primes, wouldn't he most want to spit on his grave by taking his arm?

Optimus Prime is many things, Kal-El, but here, in the Aligned Continuity, he is God. Just ask Ultra Magnus.

He is the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit.
    How original by the writer.

It would feel better if he just was some thirteen offspring, that remembers his royalty after becoming Optimus Prime.
Something like when the American Ralph, becomes king of England :)
Just to annoy Megatron, he could even be a Megatronus and Solus offspring, now Megatronus suddenly became good :)

I don't think it's either Sentinel or Maximo. Maximo's arm would be huge, and as far as I'm concerned Sentinel Prime shouldn't be purple. Maybe it could be someone we don't know about, maybe Nova Prime's predecessor?

Actually there is a picture of Sentinel Prime in the Covenant. He's basically the Animated design in a Prime aesthetic. He has the same color scheme and proportions (though they're toned down a bit so his chin isn't nearly as large) as his Animated counterpart. The coloring of Megatron's Prime arm is actually closer to Liege Maximo than it is to Sentinel Prime. It's not quite right for either of them but considering Sentinal's arms are blue and there isn't a spec of blue on Megatron's Prime arm that kind of eliminates him as a possibility.

Whoa wait a minute. That arm of his was from Liege Maximo?! ... Um, isn't Liege generally a, GREEN, robot? Oh whatever, doesn't matter whose arm it was when the show doesn't tell ya.

This is a problem regardless if it is Maximo or Sentinel since neither arm matches the color. Of course if you were to ask Hasbro the answer would probably be something along the lines of
"he changed his appearance like Megatron and Optimus did" which just reeks of making this up as they go along (much like the whole "Sentinel Zeta Prime" nonsense).

I think it's just some random Prime we don't know about. If there's a whole dynasty of giant magic robots there ought to be more than 17 or so of them.

If he was reborn that doesn't necessarily make him still one of the 13. I mean, the logic here is that Sentinel can't use the Forge because he's not one of the 13. Optimus shouldn't be counted as one of the 13 since he was reborn as an ordinary dude who just happened to be uplifted to Prime status.

    Zeta Prime is Sentinel Prime.
Makes sense, though. Zeta and all versions of Sentinel (except movie) have blue. And IIRC G1 has red. Movie does, too, of course.

    ...........Purple...?

One of the conditions of him going back into the Well was that if he was ever needed to be a PRIME again it would all come back to him.

Hey- nobody said it wasn't lame.
    Or full of holes.

There's also IDW's version of Sentinel Prime which was mainly yellow and had some red on him.

Not sure we can really take color as a defining factor here given the Covenant's inconsistent use of character designs, like using a design for Optimus not shown in any of the Aligned continuity that I'm aware of... And there is the possibility Transformers could loose their color when they die in this universe, like we've seen in G1 and Animated.

I'd just chalk that one up to the covenant being ludicrously inconsistent - as is the entire aligned continuity. Prime flashbacks show Soundwave, Optimus and Megatron all in the wrong body prior to the war. The end of hte covenant showing the end of the Prime series shows Bumblebee and Ratchet in the wrong bodies.

I'm not necessarily against the idea of one continuious transformers continuity but this one was just so half assed that you just can't take it seriously or even find it remotely believable because no care was put into making it work. Example, Transformers have a long history of changing bodies, either due to being in need of an upgrade or just because they want to. The trouble is that now it's being used as a crutch to explain plot holes and even then it's inconsistent.
