Like really important stuff is happening, but like not important enough to need Wheeljack?

He totally could have picked the kids up from school while the important bots were doing important things... You know since Nevada doesn't have school buses apparently.

I stand by the idea that he's hanging out with Autobots who aren't assholes

Yup. He's totally hanging out with his bros like Hot Shot and Scattorshot on Earth, who are too busy being awesome to deal with Team Prime

 

I will presume that his abscene is related to the fact that he is a guest voice actor and this episode already had 12 different actors including Tony Todd who isn't exactly a cheap fella'.

An in-universe explanation would probably be that they were rushing to get there and set that trap no time to try and find the crazy space hermit.

In Reality Wheeljack and Team Prime have a lot of trust issues that probably won't be resolved for awhile (mostly because the writers forgot he existed) and since Smokescreen took the spot of sixth Autobot.

 

Yep, couldn't believe that they didn't call WJ for Base backup, if not fighting expertise..gotta hope he'll show up for the finale. Maybe he'll help or rescue Ratchet then arrive on Cybertron to help save the kids.

Also, yeah, I've noticed hardly anybody rides buses anymore,
seems like since taxpayers are still paying for them, use them.  

Think some places do charge for riding the school these days. Crazy.

That would require the writers writing him like a character instead of a toy. Unfortunately, after this episode, I really feel like they baited us with talks of being as good as Beast Wars and Animated, and killing off a character to try to appeal to those audiences, but their deaths are meaningless. I feel like I've been tricked into watching a toy commercial, instead of a character driven story.

 

I hope he's in the finale. They need him and it makes sense.
