Here's how it's gonna play out. During the final conflict, Wheeljack appears out of nowhere. Jumps out of his ship and transforms in style.

    Wheeljack: Hey guys! Miss me?

Wheeljack gets brutally murdered. People curse the writers and will continue to watch the show.

    Lolz. Perfect.

I think his disappearnce was because the Bots were pissed at him for not following orders, and they have some trust issues. Also, remember that Wheeljack is NOT an Autobot...I think. I'm pretty sure in the show that Wreckers are NOT Autobots, like they said in some other episode.

Realistically, the writers have no use for Wheeljack because they have Smokescreen, who (while I do sorta like him at times), is way more kid-friendly and Cheetor-esque. Plus WJ's toy came out a long time ago.

Also, despite how much I looove this show, I feel like the writers hate us at times.

Ah well. If he wasn't in this one, hopefully he might save the day in the next one or something.

    I hope so, at least.

Wreckers are Autobots. Bulkhead outright says that in Loose Cannons. Plus Wheeljack has an Autobot symbol on him.

I've been wondering that myself. I realize he's a "recurring" character, and thus, doesn't have to show up all of the time. But I mean, 4 episodes in two seasons so far. I mean, there's plenty of ways they could've had Wheeljack appear sporadically since "Hurt" if they wanted to.

-Show up on Ratchet's monitor briefly, checking up on Bulkhead/asking about the new guy in "New Recruit".
-Have him enlisted for backup with Bulkhead and Smokescreen in "Hard Knocks".
-Have Wheeljack pick up the kids from school in "Regeneration" (but then again, that would've taken away from the
    kidnapping of the kids
by the 'Cons. Unless they wanted to say that Wheeljack was ambushed and overcome by the 'Cons and thus, that's how the kids were
    kidnapped
    ).
-Have Wheeljack and the Jackhammer be part of the epic "use all of our resources" battle in "Regeneration" (obviously if the above option wasn't used).
-Heck, just mention him, for pete's sake. At least acknowledge that, yes, he still exists in your world.
-Or even if he was present in the background, standing amongst the other Autobots during various scenes of them in the base throughout various episodes. He wouldn't have to speak, just be visible. It's not out of the realm of possibility to assume that Wheeljack just pops into base every once in a while to check up on Team Prime. That's an easy (albeit lame) way to keep him present without actually having him do anything.

Wouldn't have to be all of those. Any one or any combination of those would've been enough, in my opinion. Oh well, COULD'VE, SHOULD'VE, WOULD'VE. I'm sure he'll reappear eventually.

So, he's on Griffin Rock? :D  (Yes, I realize that "Rescue Bots" aren't technically "Autobots")

You know what? That actually has some great potential to it. The Decepticons attack the Autobot base, Airachnid is freed in the process, Ratchet is all by himself, Wheeljack shows up, they fight, and either Airachnid or Ratchet or Wheeljack perish at the hands of someone else.

    1.) Ratchet gets some action.
    2.) Wheeljack shows up.
3.) Airachnid comes back into play.
4.) The Decepticons get one more 'win' on their tally sheet.

    Win-win-win-win.

Realistically, I think I'd like Wheeljack to return in this way:

The Autobots on Cybertron give in and hand over the keys.

Megatron revives Cybertron, and the Autobots send the kids home.

The Autobots are captured by the Decepticons, and then imprisoned (with someone being killed).

By way of a tracking beacon on the containers the kids were in, the Decepticons learn where the Autobot's base is, and attack it.

Wheeljack shows up, rescues Ratchet and the kids, and escape.

Season 3 involves Wheeljack and Ratchet trying to rescue the captured Autobots.

im assuming since this mission required stealth, wheeljack was left out since stealth doesnt seem to be his thing. also it seems contacting wheeljack seems to require some barganing, which would require time the team didnt have.
also wheeljack only really works well with bulkhead and doesnt seem fond of the rest of the team aside from miko since they shared that nice little revenge mission together.
which brings me to the next point of, he took miko along on a revenge mission. which endangered a human. optimus seem to have a cardinal rule about involving humans in their species civil conflict. had he brought miko back and only sought revenge on his own, that would have been different, but sadly for wheeljack i think he's been written off due to his following of personal agenda, insubordination, and poor attitude towards the team and its leader.

Maybe the Autobots did contact him, but he was in the middle of his movie-night.

OP: "Wheeljack, a new revelation has been uncovered, and we are presented with the chance to resu-"
WJ: "Sorry Prime, not now. I'm watching The Dark Knight Rises."
OP: "But we could use your assita-"
WJ: "Look, you never called me about that new guy or crazy-zombie-Breakdown or all the other crap you guys do, so just let me watch my mov- *CRUNCH*- Aw, NO! You made me miss Bane breaking Batman's back! Go away!"

    Ratchet: "Well?"
    OP: "...... He wasn't there."

The writers forgot about him, most likely. That, or they were too lazy to write him in and hope we forgot his existence.

Or he'll show up in a big way next episode. Who knows?

This was the first thing I thought of when the Autobots were leaving.

"We need to use all of our available resources."

So Wheeljack doesn't exist in your mind?
