Magnus being like Sentinel would just be unoriginal.

 

I can honestly see Magnus being an extrimist who's willing to very far to get things done. Like maybe make him like Movie Optimus but more ruthless. It can start out with him being a typical bad aft who looks and sounds like a cool guy but later on he starts doing questionable things like butting heads with Prime and even killing a Vehicon or Knockout in cold blood. then if Optimus gets injured in combat he takes the role as team leader and holds an iron grip on the team causing tension and such. He even goes as far as to insult and belittle the team for not making enough sacrifices and belittling the memorys of their dead teammates. Like Cliffjumper just to get Arcee furious at Magnus and/or Bulkhead if he dies to make Wheeljack hate him.

Those are my own ideas and they may not happen but I stll can see Ultra Magnus doing something like that.

 

It would be reasonable for Magnus to be the "SCRAP YOU UP WIV MAH HAMMAH!" kind of guy, as a contrast to Optimus' "There has to be a diplomatic solution!" mindset.

 

I can't see UMagnus playing the role of SPrime, it's just not his character to kill, betray, in order to save the TF race. At least, not to that extreme. However, I can see him playing the RID/God Magnus role/attitude. Aggressive and against Prime ways in running the operations but with a different approach despite same ideology.

The Voyage UM toy looks so menacing especially with that powerful hammer/ gun weapon and with the additional arm rocket missile launcher. He does remind me of RID/God Magnus, one power bot with attitude. I too hope he debut in the cartoon.

 

I think he should be like a rival to Optimus, who doesn't care too much for human life, or playing by the book. Not to the point of betrayal, but a certain disdain for Optimus, and thinks he's a push over and all that. Someone who doesn't want to take orders from Optimus.

 

He did start his own splinter faction. I'd be suprised if he wasn't a little off the books.

 

In Exodus he was in fact the one who started the Wreckers and it's leader so maybe he takes the whole merciless approach to the Wreckers a bit too far later on?

Perhaps if Ultra Magnus did go too far at one point and started being an afthole then it could explain why Wheeljack had a disdain for leader type bots like Optimus at first.

 

Heck I'd just be happy to see him appear in more then one episode and not get killed off.

 

So in simpler words, the TFA Sentinel of TF Prime.

Have we've seen box art for Prime Ultra Magnus?

 

I would love Ultra Magnus to be in prime, but to be honest I really dont care who the autobot is as long we get one this season, its been 33 episodes since Wheeljacks first apperance I think its time to introduce a new autobot as well as a decpticon.

 

I imagine that, much as we saw a rivalry between Ratchet and Wheeljack, Optimus and Magnus will clash on how best to deal with the Decepticon menace. Ratchet has already (albeit on "drugs") called Optimus out on not killing Megatron when he had the chance; perhaps Magnus will consider him unfit for leadership as a result.

Or they're badass battle brothers. I can take either.

Since a toy is coming out, does that mean the character is likely to appear? I haven't seen any of the shows or movies mentioned.

I would rather have a tough comrade who occasional butts heads with Optimus. There are not enough Autobots to have infighting like the Decepticons. Wheeljack is already their "Loose Cannon." They could just make Ultra Magnus disobedient like the rest of the Autobots. They have all disobeyed Optimus. Orion Pax disobeyed Megatron before he found out he was Optimus.

Adding a rogue Autobot to the cast would not help them progress against the Decepticons. They need to be united at first. Conflict might be interesting later.

I want prime ultra magnus to be a little like idw's mtmte strict fascist cop type as it would give him a different reason to fall out with optimus from sentinal and he would definetly have a few things to say about the wreckers rule breaking ethos and would maybe even end up arresting arcee if she was to do something against the tyrest accord

 

A defiant but non dickheaded Ultra Magnus would be perfect for TFP.
