This could very well signal the end of the Michael Bay Transformers Movie Era and at the same time indicate Hasbro is planning for a solid Transformers: Prime future.

    ... we can only hope.

NO, I don't care HOW "successful" the movieverse was financially, I didn't care for it. At all.

Raf gets a crowning moment of awesome. Too bad from the one shot of him we get from that photo, he is drawn like a total dork.

Also, Fowler is hardcore. Nukes as a 'just in case' precaution.

Those weren't Fowler's doing- his superiors, or whoever gave the Autobots the bunker, put it there. He just got the flack for being a servant of the people most likely.

Dammit Bush, you couldn't do anything right, could you?

From that awful series with cardboard characters, that horrible finale and total lack of any worthy idea, the synopsis of comic #1 isn't such a shock... :redface2:

They did this for a while when Animated first came, that wasn't permanent. But I liked some of the Movie strips they did, it gave fiction to characters that had none, like Stratosphere. I got this issue yesterday, the art and story ain't to bad.

Also, I wonder if this means a more adult magazine is on the way, like the Star Wars or Doctor Who mags. Now that would be cool...

Hey, the first volume was pretty great on all those counts! It hit the wall after ROTF.

Hmm, interesting that they've moved over to Prime now. I doubt they'll improve the overall magazine though, it's been a steaming turd since way back at the beginning of Volume 2.

I have no idea how it's lasted as long as it has, but it will probably run a few more months and end now they've switched over to Prime content, just like the Animated one that lasted 3 or 4 issues, and that horrific Armada comic that didn't last long either.

Is Prime even on in the UK yet? If not how will kids know what is going on, there seemed to be no real explaination as to why all of a sudden everything is different and they are no longer in movieverse but primeverse.
This really isn't anything to get excpted over. The UK comic has been pretty poor from 2009 onwards. Half the comic is puzzle pages and fact files that tell you nothing other than the characters name and a made up pet hate.

    Cool

I think I'll start getting this again. I got all of the very short run of Animated but was never interested in the movie branded comics.

I'll see if they have it in Sainsbury's tonight.

Picked up a copy today. Not a bad read actually. Comic strip was decent for the few pages it got - a good, simple starting point introducing the cast of heroes and being set at their base.

The plot: During their first test run of Ratchet's new combat training facility, The 'Safe', the Autobots discover a nasty surprise in the form of a nuclear missile planted underneath their base! In exposing it, Bulkhead inadvertantly sets its timer off. And to make matters worse, a Vehicon scouting party is being drawn to the Autobots' base. With two simultaneous threats imminent, Optimus Prime divides the team to tackle both. As Prime, Arcee and Bumblebee dispatch the incoming Vehicons, Raf, Ratchet and Bulkhead remain at base trying to defuse the bomb. With some quick thinking and technical wizardry, Raf manages to reverse the bomb's countdown. Fowler and other government officials arrive on the scene to secure the bomb. Prime is less than pleased to find out that their human allies had been keeping a dangerous weapon hidden underneath their residence. Later, Bulkhead apologizes to Ratchet for wrecking his 'Safe' facility and triggering the bomb. Ratchet replies that the bomb was something they "needed to know about" and suggests Raf's help in redesigning the Safe. Raf proposes a "pop-up weapon range" with Megatron-reminiscent targets. Bulkhead heartily agrees with Raf's idea.

Other than the erroneous use of 'Mika' and Prime's 'livelier-than-usual' attitude (not to mention his artistically exaggerated proportions! Just look at his hulking limbs!), all the characters seemed pretty much what they are from the show, which is good. And the subject of human mistrust towards the Autobots is not something that has really been addressed in the show yet. Plus, i like the idea of a combat training room for the Autobots. Wouldn't mind seeing something like that in the show's future. Surely the 'bots need some combat practice sometimes!

Thanks for posting the story/plot BO! That sounds like a pretty nice comic..

Now if you haven't watched the One Shall Rise 3 parter you're gonna be spoiled.

Interesting that this comic doesn't follow the series at all...Optimus is still around and in charge of the Autobots. Hmmmm!

I like that they had Ratchet in charge of the base "improvements" and training facility, along with Raf and Bulk to help him. They got Miko's name wrong, huh? and Optimus is livelier?? Not a bad thing actually. :D

Might just order this one myself.

Here be a snapshot of the front cover.

mpl, the comic price was £3.99 for your info., which is a bit pricier than I would normally expect. And mine came with 3 gift items: two disc-launching toys and a Prime sticker sheet. The disc-launchers are better for the kids, but the sticker sheet has some neat images of the Prime 'bots and 'cons in cool poses.

On the 'livelier' Optimus, I quote him here: [Whilst blasting some poor Vehicons to smithereens] "Okay, okay, Bee - Next time I'll serve and you can shoot!"
