Nothing in the show happens in the IDW Comics. Windblade is alright with Combiners in IDW, if my knowledge is correct.

What the fuck did i just walk into ?!!!
Windblade has always been a fierce warrior :lol
Considering Menasor and Computron where trashing Caminus with their battle and killed her friend its no more than natural for a bruiser like Windblade to slice and dice Menasor to bits.
Thank you Slochmoeller for being the voice of sanity here ;)

If I recall, there's some books that tried to explain why the things in this show are kinda off (like Starscream being the only likable character and Windblade's motivation).

And if they're not based on the comics, then who is random fan service femmebot?

Pretty sure those books don't exist. I could be wrong but something like that would have been moderately important news and I do not remember hearing anything about that.

Plus this cartoon is for a series line that is pretty much done other than Leokaiser. Effort put into promoting and actually producing it has been at best drearily mediocre on a Covenant of Primus level.

She's Hasbro's newest darling because she's the fan vote winner - got the Generations figure AND was the last of the 30 'Silver badge' series figures meant to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary AND was shoved into RID without any design changes AND somehow is staring in the Combiner Wars cartoon even though she has nothing to do with the actual Combiner Wars toyline.

It is only a matter of time before she inevitably shows up in the live action films, given the previous 'comic-introduced sword swinging heavily Japnese based character Hasbro swears up and down everybody was going to like despite not deserving instant fan favorite status and was shoved into toyline fiction media despite not having a toy in that product line' character happens to be Drift.

I was talking about the Mistress of Flame (though I don't think she's ever called that in the show), and that pan-up shot of her legs and chest.

I don't think he is. I think he's the guy who does Peter Cullen impressions for fan films. Which really isn't acting.

Really glad I haven't checked this out yet. Seems like it was focus-grouped by a messageboard. Stoked for RID Season 3, and better treatment for a lot of these characters.

"The combiners are out of control. They've caused nothing but destruction on my Homeworld. My people, my friends, they died at their hands!" dialogue right out of episode 3.

    There's also this:
    https://youtu.be/xnGZ0BIoPOg
"I've had enough. Look at my home, Caminus. It's nothing but Rubble and Ash. ...The Combiner Wars continue, my people are dying. And the cities keep burning. So I'm through being a city speaker. I'm down waiting on the side lines for peace to come through diplomacy. I will rundown and kill every last one of them."

So yeah, they make it ABUNDANTLY clear that Windblade is killing Combiners because of the destruction of her world. No need to go to the comics. (I don't read the comics, and I knew I had gotten that idea from somewhere.)

Took 'em three episodes, huh? Not to mention, y'know, isn't it obvious that there's a difference between Autobot and Decepticon combiners..? And how they act?

Why are they even going to faux-Themyscira? Shouldn't they be on Cybertron? How are several combiners going to faux-Themyscira?

That's like saying it is easy to tell who the good guy is in a Godzilla vs. Mothra fight in the middle of Tokyo when the only thing that matters is the state of Tokyo's remaining integrity.

...because the Mistress of Flame is that planet's leader and the whole deal apparently is her having a problem with combiners wrecking it?

Except Combiners are just really big Transformers. And if this is following G1, then they're also war heroes. If not, then shouldn't they be smart enough to figure out "hey, I think these big robots are made up of six smaller robots", otherwise why even call them "combiners"?

Oh really? She's from Caminus? They never mentioned that.

It's implied the Combiners are new, and were not apart of the Great War. Why Combiners would even be built after the Great War is beyond my understanding. Maybe the Council had some Shanix to blow?

They never mention anything in this show. There's no exposition or description of what's going on, or who the characters are.
As for Episode 3, that was the worst yet. I couldn't watch after the first 3 1/2 minutes due to how cringe-worthy it was.

I'm just curious what even makes them "combiners". As far as anyone knows, they're just big robots.

I'm trying to figure out why Optimus is open to trying to kill the "combiners". Some of them are Autobots, y'know. And it's not like Movie Optimus who does it in the heat of the battle. He's perfectly calm when he decides to go out and team up with (I presume)
    Megatron
    to destroy them.

I think they're teaming up to get the combination whatever (enigma? matrix?) and stop the council from using it, not to destroy combiners.

I can't imagine going into this without reading IDW, even with it being only loosely based on the direction of the comics, but reading the comments here and elsewhere from people who haven't, how are you supposed to get behind the core of the story when you're pulling WTF's as to character motivations and their positions 15 minutes in?

Well it's easy. A glut of ridiculously exposition heavy trailers, poorly animated and rushed out to try and put their main story into context. This thing is a wreck.
