I'd like to add that, romance does not instantly turn a female character into a bad one.

BAD writing does.

I've never been a fan of the thought that putting a girl into a romantic relationship weakens her as a character. No, bad writing does that. I'm a 110% positive that Strongarm can be a good character whether or not she's with someone.

Hell, in my opinion, I'd probably like her more.

 

Do you know how many over-reactive and zealot parents and groups that would piss off? I'm not saying you're idea is bad, but Hasbro probably doesn't want to have to deal with the constant scrutiny of nut-head groups.
Interspecies romance would fit the interaction between Humans and Transformers.

 

Gargoyles had a gargoyle and a human falling for each other.

Young Justice had a Martian falling for a human/Kryptonian hybrid.

Star Wars cartoons have had interspecies lovers several times before.

Ben 10 had an entire episode about a human falling in love with a slime girl.

Heck, the original G1 cartoon had Powerglide falling for a human. (Fun fact, its my favorite episode of G1)

If size is the biggest obstacle (pun intended), just make them a Mini-Con. Have a silver skinned, human looking robot of above average human height fall for a human male (or visa versa, whatever)

I get WHY romance isn't a big thing in Transformers. Its an action product marketed towards little boys. All the same, I want it. Because I like romance, and because I'm selfish.

If my humble opinion (which is probably wrong) the only reason it hasn't been done yet is because the writers have chosen not to (which, again, I understand why).

Heck, I'm not even asking for a series long "Will-They-Won't-They." Have one episode featuring a couple and I'll be happy.

 

Black Arachnia is proof that putting a female character into a romantic relationship doesn't weaken the character. She still retained her badassness despite falling for Silverbolt. (I would have fallen for him too, honestly)

So, I can see something similar happening to Strongarm. Though, as of right now I kinda prefer her with Sideswipe. He needs a strong woman in his life.

Also, the Elisa and Goliath relationship from Gargoyles was amazing. So well done.

 

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Those are some of the most notable ones out there. It's just when you have a nut job group that hates everything, you've got to be on the look out.

I agree with you. Hell at this right, if she lightened up a bit she'd be a lot better actually.

I want to say Beast Machines as an argument to Blackarachnia but thats more the show's fault altogether.

and yes Elisa and Goliath were an awesome couple. compelling, likable and one of the few cross species (like human, non-humanoid) relationships I like so far.

Strongarm x Windblade all the way. Starting off on the wrong foot and then learning to respect each other? Yeeeeesssss.

But if not, Strongarm x Sideswipe.

Really, though, I am okay with none of them being in relationships. So very, very okay.

I think choosing a bot from a kids' series to ship is really getting desperate to start something that shouldn't be started in the first place.

Besides, if folks really paid attention to Chase or Strongarm as characters, it would go against their personalities for them to entertain the idea that they would deviate from their work assignments.... they would find this idea as gross as some of the humans here do. I can just hear Chase citing all the 'codes' that type of behavior would violate. 

 

I'm sure it's illegal in the Cybertronian Patrol Officer group. Besides, romance is pretty useless to a species that's not organic.
Id rather have characters work on beings friends than having romantic relationships.

I'm not a fan of TF romance at all, but I could totally see Chase trying to win somebody over. You know, trying to impress a lady by reciting the entire Griffin Rock rule book....showing her how he goes exactly 65 mph in a 65 mph zone....lovingly informing her that her custom licence plate will make it easier for him to find her if she ever breaks the law....

 

...I really don't see how that works. Its obvious the Transformers have human-like emotions. If someone they care about dies, they get sad. If someone they care about is happy, they're usually happy for them. Their sense of right and wrong and good and bad are pretty similar to ours.

So it seems pretty easy to imagine some Cybertronians would look for partners. Not to have sex with them, but because their company makes them happy. The line between that and love, to me, seems pretty thin, to me.
