Are we SURE this show is in Aligned continuity?

As I understand it, Aligned continuity, as of the end of TFP, is dead. The grand experiment failed. I remember reading SOMEWHERE that NuRiD is a sequel to prime, but it doesn't take place inside Aligned Continuity. Meaning that it isn't beholden to the books, videogames, comics and Prime as far as how the universe is set up.

Thus far the show tends to agree with that, doing its own thing.

But I had an Aligned fan lay into me the other day, about how I just "didn't understand it" and how it makes no sense for NuRiD to be a sequel, but take place outside of continuity.

Granted, I never liked the idea of Aligned, but one has to look no further than the Terminator franchise to ask "Okay, wait, what exactly is real now?"

It wouldn't be the first time Hasbro bumped something from Canon. Canon is what is happening now. NuRiD. Which, if Aligned it dead, means everything else (save for TFP) is now not canon any more.

    Or am I crazy?

I think this pile of trash that is a cartoon is probably going to just assume what ever shown in Prime is continuity and anything else is fair game. I mean how else could they explain this joke of a Grimlock. By season 2 I bet they'll have forgotten all about Prime and decide to go with what ever they please. All the talk about Prime characters reappearing in the future possibly is just them trying to not have the fans of Prime bail out on this series.

It's in the Aligned Continuity. It is a sequel to Prime that is just animated differently and it has a more lighter tone due to the fact that the war is in my opinion over. Season one is for the build up and I guess season two will cover the canon stuff with having other members of Team Prime show up to either join Team Bumblebee or just lend a helping hand. It goes with it it just changed some stuff around for the plot.

I'm sorry but that's just foolish to belive that. Marketing will determine that Prime will come back from the dead and lead the team like in every other series and they'll forget all the lessons learned in Prime your just buying in the marketing.

Yeah, seriously-- every single piece of promotional material for the series clarifies that it's a sequel to Prime, and they've referenced more minute bits of Aligned stuff like Contrail (who was originally in the novels). It's always gonna be "soft" continuity, though, being a Transformers series-- they don't have to be stupidly self-referential just to satisfy the wiki/forum nuts. I mean, what do people expect? Some kind of "Ravage Three Bodies Evolution" shit where a character shows up and directly refers to what comic/other media they were last seen in?

I believe what I want to believe. And who said any thing about Prime coming back from the grave? For all we know Hasbro could actually keep him dead and just have him be a spirit guide for Bumblebee.

RID is as much of a sequel to Prime as Prime was to WfC/FoC and the novels and comics.

The philosophy seems to be that they are not going to let continuity issues interfere with storytelling. So if something has to be "altered" in order to tell a story, they will.

Thought it was stated in an article on here somewhere in the last couple of years by Hasbro, that the Aligned continuity was scraped aside from RID being a continuation of Prime. I could be mistaken though.

Like Girl Pants stated, they'll basically bend continuity where it serves the storytelling.

There never really was much of an Aligned Continuity to begin with. Only some basic groundwork had to be kept the same between all the different stories. If this show is separate from the rest of the Aligned Continuity, we'll never know until it's officially announced.

Why would you expect RID to remember the lessons learned in TFP when even TFP couldn't remember the lessons learned in TFP?

I'm not sure if I ever saw that article-- I'd need a source.

I just see it as that: the "story" of RID took place somewhat after O- Prime transformed into a "new life".
    But what is "Crown City"?..

Since Cybertron started to proceed life again, the TFP's Decepticons were replaced from Earth...I see it quite reasonable that the Team Prime cut off their bond with Fowler and other human members.
We haven't seen yet, how the rest of TF Universe looks like after Megatron retired.

Perhaps, I don't have the right definition for "aligned", but what exactly doesn't allow them to stay in order after each other?

How is that foolish? Marketing determines that Prime needs to be in the show. Prime can easily be in the show without being alive.

I thought aligned was like a wel of guidelines/inspirations. Not something completely static.

    Fook.

WFC and FOC had a son called Transformers Prime. TFP had a daughter called RID 2015.

All related. Not identical. Just a 'file' to keep these bitches in order.

    Aligned.

This is the only aligned thing I actually consider to be in continuity with Prime. Let's see if they don't fuck it up.

I treat everything else in aligned the same way I treat IDW and Marvel with respect to the G1 cartoon. They're in the same G1 family and they borrow a lot of the same things but it doesn't mean they're in the same continuity.
