Why does Grimlock say "Well I want another shot at that musclehead" when explaining to Bee why he wants to tag along to fight Bisk?

It's possible only Grimlock has met Bisk before, but clearly somebody has had a run in with Bisk.

    YouTube (Custom URL):
Could it be possible for Bisk to be involved with Grimlock having been arrested? Although Grimlock starts off as a Decepticon, he says the lines "I'm not a criminal! At least I don't think I am." Perhaps Grimlock was a Decepticon, but not a strict one (like, say Soundwave) and Bisk got him involved in something that caused Grimlock to look really bad, worse than he was? If Grimlock was truly one of the worst of the Decepticons (as Fixit says "Most Wanted Decepticons") why would Bumblebee be okay with Grimlock working with them?

Then again, Bisk didn't appear to recognize Grimlock in the fight, thinking him to be an Autobot.

Not sure. From the trailer release, the Bisk fight clip happens after that conversation. But, yeah, they could totally be talking about anybody. Those clips could even be from different episodes altogether.

Yeah, in the "Bumblebee's mission" clip @ about 2:45 Bee does say "We're all that that stands between Underbite and the loss of a lot of innocent lives...."

So Grimlock wants another shot at Underbite

I'd just like to reccomend the idw comics to anyone that finds the cartoons too dumbed down or the movies that are, well, dumbed down also.

The idw characterization, story, and design have been great. If your looking for a more mature and faceted representation of these characters it's going on in comics right now.... Easily accessible from www.comixology.com

I've actually been feeling like Transformers is kinda "meh" for a while now... not for the same reasons as the OP but like Transformers has taken some steps backwards and refuses to progress forwards again.

The Beast Era is like the best Transformers had to offer... RID included even though it wasn't technically part of the Beast Era it still had Predacons.

After that ended it's like it went back to the G1 days which was great for the 80's but haven't we already established by now that kids are too smart to over look such giant plot holes. Yet they keep going down this line of poor writing that's dumbing things down for younger audiences that don't even need things dumbed down for them.

Of course it's not just Transformers, I feel like everyone is doing it. Like the 90's was the golden age of kids shows and then everything just went to hell from there. Every once in a while we do get a show that is just as good as it was back then but then for some reason it gets canceled. Like Young Justice, it was just as good if not better than the likes of Batman the Animated series and it got canceled after only two seasons so that they could make Teen Titans Go! which has the style of writing and humor I would expect from Looney Toons. Giant leap backwards. Even the original Teen Titans was smarter than that even though it was still a step backwards with the silly "They never use their secret identities" premise and living in a giant T shaped tower. Young Justice was what I actually expected Teen Titans to be like from the start and I can't believe we lost that just to make Teen Titans even more childish than it started out as.

Well it's never really explained how the Elite Guard keep changing forms threw out the show. When they came to Earth they scanned Earth vehicle modes but after that whenever they weren't on Earth they reverted back to their Cybertronian designs.

The police officer's car is destroyed as a running gag in almost every episode. Speaking of which, how did Wasp just happen to scan the exact same vehicle mode as Bumblebee? Also why do they continue to hunt down Wasp even after his innocence was proven?

Blackarachnia is seen with the rest of Decepticons in the pilot and after they get their team back together they just seemed to have forgotten she existed. No one ever bothered to look for her? Plus towards the end of the series, Waspinator and Blackarachnia are still loose on Earth yet they act like all the Decepticons were captured. Did they seriously forget about these guys?

Scavenger and Mixmaster were created as neutrals. Their Decepticon insignias were branded onto them later and their color schemes changed. Then when Dirtboss was introduced he was already in a matching color scheme with a Decepticon insignia. How is it he is born evil while the others had to be recruited?

Speaking of the color changing, Wasp did this too... what the heck is causing it? Does turning evil just suddenly make your colors change?

There's also the issue with Prowl's armor. Specifically the helmet. Lockdown gave Prowl the armor in one episode and then the next time we see it, Lockdown some how has the helmet again and it's said to be Master Yoketron's helmet... yet Prowl doesn't recognize it the first time he wore it. The same helmet went from being nothing special, just part of Prowl's armor to suddenly being a very important piece of his past.

Another problem with Lockdown is that originally he had a rivalry with Ratchet. Lockdown had taken his EMP emitter from that gap Ratchet has in his arm. Ratchet got it back at the end of the episode but then it's never mentioned again and Ratchet continues to have that empty gap where his EMP emitter should be. The EMP Emitter also formed the engine block on Lockdown's vehicle mode so despite the fact that Lockdown no longer has it, the engine block is still there in all his appearances. It's like that episode never happened.

Then there's also Sari... There's several instances in the show where she is clearly shown to be an organic life form and then she suddenly turns out to be an Autobot. She set off an alarm that detects organic matter, she was aged by one of Blackarachnia's experiments. The first one might be explained as she's half organic but the second one, why didn't the age accelerator have any effect on Blackarachnia who is also half organic? The explanation for why Sari looks human is that she scanned Issac Sumdac so why doesn't she look like him? Normally when they scan an alt mode they turn into a copy of the thing they scanned. Obviously the two characters are different genders but that's not the only difference between them. Different hair color, different eye color, how is it she looks nothing like Issac? I would assume it's because she picked up these traits from her mother but she has no mother so every trait had to be taken from the scan of her father yet she looks nothing like him.

And by the way I actually do like Animated... I just don't like the animation style. It's not the worst written show but there are obvious plot holes in various episodes. It could be a lot worse though.

Why would they continue to use Earth forms when not on Earth? Or did you mean to write they wouldn't switch back. Checking This is Why I Hate Machines, Sentinel uses his Earth form on Cybertron. As for why they don't go back to their Cybertronian forms, I have no clue. Maybe they're lazy?

Maybe Captain Fanzone likes that type of car so keeps buying it. And Wasp has the same body type as Bee so it makes sense he'd scan a similar vehicle. I guess it's coincidence he scanned the exact same vehicle. As for why the Autobots continue to hunt him, Sentinel was never shown any proof of Wasp's innocence and is too much of a jerk to take Optimus' word on it.

The 'Cons are more powerful and experienced than any of the Autobots on Earth. They probably never bothered because they had no use for her. And the Autobots never act like all the 'Cons were captured. They just celebrated since Megatron and most of his highest ranking followers were captured.

OK, you've got me there. I really have no clue why he's a Decepticon.

I never noticed a colour change but that's not much of an error.

It's not actually the same helmet. There are several differences. However, he didn't get a good look at the one Lockdown was wearing before becoming convinced it was Yoketron's. Maybe Prowl has really good eyesight.

Lockdown never had a rivalry with Ratchet. He was paid to get something off Arcee, which caused him to attack Ratchet and Ratchet wanted revenge, which he got. Prowl then formed a rivalry with him because of their similarities.

Sari doesn't seem to have an alt. form so what she did with Issac clearly isn't exactly the same as scanning an alt form. As for what she is and what she did, the series was canceled before they could explain.

Glad you like it. Honestly, I'm not fond of it's animation either, however, I don't think it's much worse written than any of the beast shows which, while good (BW is my favorite TF series) were also far from perfect.

Why would the continue to use Earth forms when not on Earth isn't the question. The question is how are they able to change between Earth and Cybertronian forms? Do they have to rescan their original vehicle modes? Are the scans kept on file some where? I'm not questioning why they would change back to their Cybertronian forms, I'm questioning how they're able to do it. The question of why doesn't create a plot hole but the question of how does.

Also they do switch back to their Cybertronian forms. Sentinel may of been in his Earth mode in that episode but that doesn't mean that he never switches back. When Wasp was first introduced, the episode takes place after the Elite Guard left Earth, Sentinel Prime is in his Cybertronian body. And I'm not just talking about in the flash backs, it's for the whole episode.

They have the same body type on Cybertron but that doesn't mean they have to be the same body type on Earth when he has the capability to scan any vehicle form. The fact that he just happens to scan the exact same vehicle is way too much of a coincidence.

Also, yes there was a period where Sentinel didn't know about Shockwave yet but I'm talking about AFTER. Sentinel was actually shown proof of Wasp's innocence. They discovered that he was framed by Longarm/Shockwave who was the real spy the whole time. Even though they knew they had the wrong guy they still continued trying to recapture him instead of changing their focus to capturing Shockwave.

Actually yes they did. It was said that they could return to Cybertron now because all the Decepticons on Earth were in custody. So unless the were captured off screen then the Autobots seemed to have forgotten they existed.

Or more likely the Writers forgot they existed because they were kind of forced to tie up any loose ends kind of quick and didn't really have time to properly get rid of all the Decepticons like they wanted.

I'm color blind so I never actually saw it. I read about it on these forums.

Autobot Wasp and Traitor Wasp look exactly the same to me.

Neutral Constructicons and Decepticon Constructicons also look exactly the same.

I'm kind of just taking other people's word for it because I can't see what the color difference is.

Like what? It looks like the same helmet to me. I don't see any differences.

Lockdown did have a rivalry with Ratchet. Lockdown is paid in upgrades and takes parts from his victims. Ratchet just happen to be one of them which is how the rivalry formed. Also Ratchet didn't really seem to get anything because again, after that episode the EMP generator continued to be missing from his arm and Lockdown still had it. It was like that episode never happened because nothing changed for either character.

Prowl's rivalry just came up out of no where. Ratchet was the one that actually had a history with Lockdown. I'd rather see two characters have a rivalry because they actually have history together then because they're similar characters so we're going to force them together for no real reason.

Lockdown wasn't even really that similar to Prowl. The whole background story that they were both trained cyber ninjas was added later to make them similar and give them a reason to be rivals. But there's no reason to shoehorn Lockdown's Cyber Ninja background into the story when he already had a more interesting story going on with Ratchet.

How does she not appear to have an alt mode? She's in her alt mode for most of the series. Her human form is her alt mode. What she did with Issac is scan her alt mode. That's exactly what we were told she did, there's nothing clearly different about it.

No the series ended AFTER they explained. It's explained what she is and what she did at the beginning of season 3. There was nothing left to tell us about her after that because they already told us everything. She was sent to Earth as a protoform. Issac Sumdac discovered her pod and was scanned as her alt mode. Then the little girl came out not really remembering where she came from and Issac adopted her. Just about the only thing left to explain is why she doesn't remember coming out of a stasis pod or why she never questions who her mother was. She is kind of a weird kid, maybe she just thinks it's normal to be born out of a stasis pod and not have a mother.

Also technically speaking, we never saw Sari's robot mode when she was a kid. She was always in her alt mode. However after being upgraded into a teenage body she started using her robot mode... which looks as if she's wearing armor but that's actually what she looks like as a robot.

Not really... the only real continuity errors are where it connects to G1. Being an 80's property it's much easier to forgive the continuity errors where G1 is concerned, that includes any connection to the Beast Era. Part of the reason for a lot of the continuity errors is the difference between G1 Cartoon continuity and G1 Comic continuity. Despite being a cartoon series Beast Wars I think followed the comics more than the cartoon.

Although if you want to include the Japanese only Beast Wars then continuity gets a little more complicated. Like the fact that Optimus Primal appears in BWII and has the Matrix in his chest while in the American series Optimus Primal does not have the Matrix within him. (He sort of did in season 3 but this is season 1 Optimus Primal I'm talking about here.) Optimus uses a lot of abilities in BWII that he never had in the American series. Including his Burning upgrade that some how he wasn't able to bring back with him when he returned to his own show.

Looking at Beast Wars as a self contained entity, not including it's connections to other members of the same continuity family, where are the continuity errors in the series? I've seen Beast Wars multiple times and I've never noticed any. The biggest issue in the series is Starscream proclaiming that he would return only to never be seen again. Not really a continuity error just failure to back up your threat. Waspinator did the same thing in Animated.

Ah, so they do switch back. It's been a while since I watched a whole episode of Animated. Anyway, I really don't think this is something that needs explaining. No series has ever properly explained alt modes. How do they even have Cybertronian forms? Do their bodies naturally have a secondary form or do they have to scan something?

Wasp had still escaped prison and was causing problems on Earth (if nothing else, dangerous driving). He needed to be captured so they could get help for him. He clearly wasn't mentally sound. And Sentinel made things worse by being aggressive and too stubborn to give up the idea Wasp had something to do with the 'Cons.

Wait, when did they say that? Looking at the end of the last episode, they never said that and before the end, nobody was captured so I have no clue where they would have said that.

Oh. Well, they're right about the Contructicons. I never noticed a difference with Wasp but even if he did change colours, I don't see what the problem is.

I have no clue how to describe it but it should only take a few moments to make visual aids.

Ratchet was nothing more than business for Lockdown. He had no interest in the medic and getting back his EMP, Ratchet had no reason to pursue as rivalry.

Ratchet did keep the EMP, he simply chose not use it for a long time. He gave it to Prowl in the same episode he first got armour (the armour he gave up) and then later used it himself on Sari when she was high on Allspark power. As for how it effected him, I'm not certain. He supposedly opens up about his past but I'd have to rewatch the series to see if that ever became relevant.

The similarity between Prowl and Lockdown is that they both preferred to work alone. That's how they ended up hunting Starscream together. Lockdown ended up liking Prowl. Honestly, I'm not even sure if Lockdown considered Prowl his rival or just an acquaintance he liked to mess around with.

She became half organic from scanning him. That doesn't sound like a normal scanning. And she only started transforming after she upgraded herself. I always assumed that's when she got the ability. Plus, we don't even know how she ended up on Earth. There was clearly more story to tell.

There are a lot of problems. Not all continuity problems but there are problems. To name a few from season three.

What was the point of the Predacons getting Sentinel? That never becomes relevant. I know the Maximals losing it was important but it could simply have been destroyed.

Tarantulas remarks he and the Tripredicus council aren't descended from the 'Bots and 'Cons and that's never expanded upon in the show.

The Vok are just forgotten. I like to assume there was only two but that seems unlikely.

At the end of the series, Megatron tries to kill his own ancestors. He does seem insane but neither his insanity or the fact what he's doing will kill his ancestors are ever acknowledged.

I might be wrong about this, and considering the mess that is Japanese g1 I might might be way off.

but I believe the Optimus Primal we saw in BW2, was from further in the future then he was in the american show.
to try to use an age analogy, the Primal we see in the american show is in his 20's, the Primal we see in the BW2 was in his 90's.

might answer why he had other abilities, matrix and so on.
    brings up other questions

Um... every series has properly explained alt modes. I think you mean no series has ever properly explained CYBERTRONIAN alt modes. We do know how they get their alt modes ON EARTH. But you're right we don't really know where their original Cybertronian vehicles came from. I like to think that maybe they were vehicles used by the Quintessons that the Transformers copied or that they were just built that way rather than scanning something to blind in like they do on other planets. Considering the Quintesson explanation only really works in G1 Continuity it's probably more likely the second one. Which again leads me to ask how they're able to change back into their Cybertronian bodies if there's nothing to scan to get them back?

What do you mean no one was captured? That was all they did in that episode was capture the Decepticons. That was basically the entire plot of the end of the series was to capture all the remaining Decepticons or in real world terms tie up all the loose ends before the series gets canceled.

The problem is why do they change colors? I get why Shockwave did it, the new color scheme was part of his disguise as Longarm. The Constructicons just changed color because Megatron branded them with Decepticon insignias and Wasp changed colors because he went crazy. I don't get what this has to do with their color schemes changing.

Also, I can't tell you all of the differences because I don't even know what they all are but I do know that Wasps eyes were originally blue and then turned purple. I did not see this happen but I was told by someone else and I'm taking their word for it because I can't really check to see if they're right.

One of those pictures looks like it was taken from Prowl's death considering the lack of color. That's another thing, why does the armor loose color when it's not actually a part of his body? Although one could really ask why they turn grey when they die at all? It doesn't make a lot of sense to begin with which is probably why I over looked this one before.

Anyway... what the heck am I suppose to be looking at here? His horns are longer and there's some extra detail on the sides of his helmet? So what, chalk it up to animation error. That doesn't prove it's a different helmet.

In both instances Prowl is wearing his armor. There's actually a toy version of this. Obviously it's the same helmet or Hasbro would of planned a retool of the Armored Prowl figure to go with the new helmet design.

Actually Ratchet does still have a reason to pursue a rivalry with Lockdown... Arcee. It's Lockdown's fault that she lost her memory. Also just the general fact that Ratchet hates the idea of Lockdown stealing parts from his victims. It was never really about getting his EMP generator back. He could care less about his own well being. He's a medic, he hates Lockdown because of what he's done to others not for what Lockdown did to him.

You missed the point. Ratchet has a hole in his arm where the EMP generator is suppose to be located. When he got it back that hole was closed up giving him a more symmetrical appearance minus the still broken horn. Both arms actually matched for the first and only time in the entire series. He did use it again later but that hole in his arm came back.

Plus there's the fact that Lockdown still has it in every episode. The EMP Generator actually forms the engine block of Lockdown's vehicle mode. He lost that in his first appearance but in every episode after that it's still there. Did he steal a second EMP generator from another medic? How can he still have it when Ratchet got it back?

Actually we do know how she ended up on Earth. Yoketron was protecting the Protoforms. Lockdown managed to kill them all, except for Sari, some how he missed that one and she was sent to Earth when they thought she would be safer.

As for her becoming half organic by scanning him... that's the continuity error. The only other technorganics in the series are Blackarachnia and Waspinator. Elita-One was attacked by alien spiders which some how turned her into Blackarachnia. She later used a special machine to mutate Wasp into Waspinator. These were both special circumstances of mutations rather than just scanning an organic life form. So by all reasoning Sari should really only LOOK organic not actually BE organic.

As for the transforming thing. She was always a Transformer, she just didn't know how to do it. She was partially transforming at the end of season 2 but just in her hands and she couldn't figure out how to control it. The ability was clearly there just out of her control. When she upgraded herself that some how caused her to gain control over her T-Cog.

Not really a continuity error. Just something they neglected to follow up on. Though I like to think the Spawn of Unicron line was literal.

Not really, they still play an important part in the series to the end. Remember they fuzed Tigatron and Airrazor's sparks together to create Tigerhawk and Tigerhawk really only appeared in the last three episodes of the series.

He never tried to kill the Decepticons. He did try to kill Optimus Prime. Though it is odd that Megatron never returned his original name sake's spark. I know he took the spark so that he could be upgraded in the same way that Optimus Primal was when he held Prime's spark for a while but did he not realize that he didn't need to keep the spark to retain the upgrade? Maybe he would of returned it when he thought he didn't need it anyway. I don't know. But what he was doing was intended to help the Decepticons win the war. He never planned on killing the Decepticons, just the Autobots so that when the Decepticons woke up in the future there wouldn't be any Autobots on Earth to oppose them.
